Love the bottom freezer design. Disagree that it should cost twice as much just to have freezer on bottom. And it’s LOUD, everything on it vibrates, shakes and rattles.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello,
We’re glad you’ve been loving the bottom freezer deisign of your new fridge, but we’re sorry to hear that you were less than impressed with the price, and that it’s louder than you expected. We strive to offer a wide variety of refrigerators that vary in design, features, and finishes to ensure our customers can always find exactly what they're looking for. Pricing can vary between configurations, however, there are several factors that contribute to differences in pricing across our models.
Refrigerators can make many different sounds during operation, and we recommend taking a look at the articles below for examples of noises you may hear when it’s running.
If you feel the noise is much louder than is normal, or if it’s described as an unusual noise, we recommend having it diagnosed by one of our qualified technicians. You can schedule service by calling 1-800-432-2737 or by going to https://www.geappliances.com/ge/service-and-support/service.htm.
Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. Please know we’re here should you need further assistance. -MichaelB@GEA

Loud and annoying

Loudest refrigerator I’ve ever had. It runs often and for a long time. I’ve been listening to it for two hours now. It was running when I woke up even though the doors hadn’t been opened for 8 hours. This is the only time I didn’t see my electric bill decrease after getting a new refrigerator.

Good morning,
Thank you for taking the time to share your honest feedback regarding your new GE bottom-freezer refrigerator. We are sorry to hear that you find the refrigerator to be noisier than you would prefer, and that the refrigerator seems to be running constantly.
The refrigerator may run 75% - 90% of the time, and in hot, humid areas, may even approach 100% run time. Modern refrigerators save energy by running longer, but at a slower speed. Most of the energy used in a refrigerator is from starting the compressor.
These are factors that contribute to a refrigerator running too frequently or too long:
- The compressor will run longer after the initial installation or after a long power outage. - The refrigerator will run more if the room has high humidity or high temperature. - Doors may have been opened frequently or for an extended period of time. - Warm food may have been placed in the fresh food or freezer compartment. - Check the gasket for a proper seal. Make sure it is not damaged.
We hope this information provides some peace of mind, and that you will enjoy your new refrigerator and the cooling capabilities, capacity, and convenience this has to offer. Thank you for choosing GE Appliances for your home! -Devin@GEA

Not sure we are happy yet. Noticing the temperature fluctuates about 10 degrees. Some food will freeze in refrigerator. Not sure what is normal. Space is nice. Design is good. Runs fairly quietly. We have only had it 3 weeks.

We have had issues with the ice machine. We have checked all the connections and still no ice. There is no additional information in the instructions other than on/off. We have had others look at it and cannot figure it out either.

We want to help go over the sound you are noticing on your refrigerator. It can be normal to notice the sounds of a new refrigerator more than your previous model, just due to the sounds being new. You can check the following link, which refers to one of our support articles that goes over all the normal sounds. (https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=15901). If you suspect the sounds aren't normal, we suggest scheduling service. You can do so by calling 1-800-432-2737 or by visiting this link here (https://www.geappliances.com/ge/service-and-support/service.htm).

Extended Warranty a MUST !

The unit is/was somewhat noisy. Went to the freezer this morning and the sausage had thawed. It is advisable to go ahead and purchase the extended warranty, as I am beyond the 1 year mark by 2 months. The repair person will be here Wednesday to evaluate. A 4 Star while it lasted.

I wish I could give this fridge no stars! The doors do not seal well and the freezer is constantly freezing up, full of frost. It runs continuously and is very loud. Definitely not an energy saver! I would advise everyone to steer clear of this unit.
