Fan is Loud
on April 4, 2024
Posted by: Xterm
The delivery crew put a dent by the refrigerator handle. The fan in the freezer needs to be replaced. The noise is so loud and disruptive. The repair man said the fans are a known problem on these refrigerators. Very disappointing to get a brand new refrigerator and have to contend with the loud noise for three weeks. The fan finally arrived so we are getting it replaced tomorrow.

Only had it for one day, but it seems nice with lots of storage room inside, self adjusting LED lighting and beautiful Slate finishes.

The fridge is perfect for us! A lot of space for our needs and we love that we can see in the fridge without standing on our heads anymore! The freezer is a little small but we have a chest freezer in the basement that keeps the over flow.

Love the new fridge. Fridge portion is bigger than old unit but smaller on the freezer side. This is fine as we have a stand alone freezer. Ice maker can be a bit loud but other than that we love it.

Louder than expected. It's located above a bedroom and when it was running during the night it kept us awake. The quality of and opening ease of the lower freezer door and interior drawers is less than expected. The large refrigerator door, when loaded, requires a real tug to open it. We wanted the GE slate with bottom freezer, and this was the only GE model that fit in our opening. Price was high and we expected better as part of our 4 appliance purchase.

We also suggest taking a look at the articles linked below for information on sounds a refrigerator can make while operating, and tips to help you eliminate abnormal noises.

For a smaller refrigerator, it seems spacious with the way it is designed on the inside. We love it!

Perfect fridge for a cabin.

We purchased the refrigerator for our cabin. Love the size. Not too big but has room for everything we need. The color matches our decor. Glad I got the smudge proof finish.

A want-to-be average refridgerator. But not quite.

Less quality, for more price. Installed the fridge about 3-4 weeks ago. Right away the construction quality seems less than our previous 10 year old fridge. I doubt this one will last any longer - if that long.
Pros: Exterior looks fine. Spacious inside. Decent interior lighting. Fit in our narrow space (the main reason for us buying this specific model).
Cons: The doors do not close easily. There's a strange detent right before full closure for both the Fridge and freezer door/drawer. We're used to effortless door closing. This is not that. We are forever responding to the door alarms. Really annoying. It's LOUD compared to our old fridge. I can hear it from any part of our house. It's a combination of sounds, both low and (strangely) higher frequency. And it runs for very long periods of time. This is really disappointing. The Ice maker works, but is WICKED LOUD. Seemingly occasionally making noises even when the ice bucket is already full. FYI: The ice appears completely white and cloudy. Our previous fridge produced mostly clear ice. The temperature displays show only the set temperature, not the actual temperature of the fridge and freezer. This seems really cheap, borderline sleazy. It sure would be nice to know the actual temperature to confirm everything is operating as it should.
I would not willingly buy this refrigerator model again.

We recommend reviewing the article below for a list of the normal sounds you can expect to hear from your refrigerator: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=15901&_ga=2.189922667.1799905408.1716215722-1342374613.1688136512
If you see white particles in frozen ice cubes or melting ice, these particles are minerals that are in your water. All water contains some dissolved minerals and areas where the water is considered to have a high mineral content are considered to have "hard water". These particles are usually calcium carbonate. The colder water becomes, the less capable it is of suspending minerals. As water turns to ice, these particles begin to show up or become visible. Dissolved mineral particles that were not visible have simply been converted to a visible form. This is a normal occurrence, especially in areas with "hard water".
Please see the article below for information on measuring the internal temperature for your refrigerator: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=19479&_ga=2.186924648.1799905408.1716215722-1342374613.1688136512
