Beautiful Set

Really lovely set. I am just getting into LEGO as an adult and I found this set a little more complex (I've done the Mustang, Stranger Things, Bonsai, Flowers, etc.). It has some repetitive parts as expected. Have to pay close attention while building the mechanism to ensure they move properly. I see reviews saying things fell off or didn't move or wouldn't fit. I never had any of those problems at all. Everything worked the first try and it's very sturdy as I have moved it several times already. I really like the silver metallic touches. Really cool classic look overall and would look great on a bookshelf or in your home office. I also saw a few reviews saying it doesn't take the paper/feed it through. It does. You load it in upside down through the back just like a real typewriter. I admit the instructions don't show this at all, but it definitely does take the paper and feed it through when you turn the knob. There were just a few spots where I think the instructions could be a little more clear, but overall you can easily and quickly catch your mistake if you misinterpret the diagram.

My favorite build so far!

I came back to building Lego two months ago after many decades not building. This has been my favorite build so far. I thought it was so cool the way it all came together, and it looks great on my shelf. However, you've got to be careful as you build, as it's very easy to miss or screw up a small step along the way. I made 2 small errors, but luckily caught them fairly quickly, as I checked routinely to be sure the mechanism was moving as it was supposed to do.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Complicated and totally worth it!

I was looking for a set that was going to challenge me and boy oh boy, did I find it with this set. Slight repetitiveness in the beginning when you're creating the key arms, but that's done with pretty quickly. The work involved with setting these key arms up is very involved and it can be easy to miss a step. Once you get past that part, it really starts coming together and looks fantastic! The fact that you can "type" with this kit is really nifty, and the mechanics for getting the carriage to move are really cool. TL;DR, if you're looking for a fun challenge, run, do not walk, to get this set!

Missing pieces

The beginning of this build was extremely fun, when I reached bag 9 I found that I was missing many pieces. I broke apart a few Lego sets to get some but am still missing 4x 6004990. Hopefully I am not missing more but sadly I can not continue my build without these pieces. Is there a way to get them sent to me?!?!

Very cool to pretend type. Roller actually moves when you press the keys.
When building, doesn't always feel correct...ended up rebuilding a few steps along the way.

Fun but not without it's issues.

It is a great little conversation piece and i love the mechanical portions. The back assembly step124-160 was a major pain in the behind with how unstable it was. The repetitiveness was where the last point was lost. Starting with all the technic pieces then going straight to all the keys was a bore.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Absolutely amazing

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this as a gift and I absolutely love it! I’ve only build a few lego sets but this one has the perfect amount of trickiness and fun to it. I owned two original antique typewriter s from the early 1900s that were my grandfathers and this set gets so many details and actions spot on. Couldn’t recommend enough!
