Amazing!

One of the coolest, most gorgeous sets I’ve ever built. Perfect for collectors or anyone looking for a great piece to display. The build itself was challenging but so very worth it. The sound of the keys is also almost exactly what a real typewriter sounds like! It’s just so dang cool.

Beautiful Set

I bought this typewriter set during the early VIP time and I'm in love. It looks so realistic, and took me two days to build ( I took breaks). It has moveable parts like the Steamboat Willy piece, and it's so fun! 10/10 recommend for a lego collector.

Best Lego Build
on July 7, 2021

I have purchased, and assembled 17 adult Lego sets in the past couple of years and this was, by far, the most fun and challenging. The insides of the typewriter are extremely technical, meaning you really have to pay attention. I actually had to rebuild bag 7 because I was rushing a bit and the technical aspects didn't work. Next day when I had the time to rebuild, it worked perfectly. The set is beautiful as a complete build. Definitely has a great balance of asthetics and technicality!

Looks amazing, but...

Purchased this set mostly because it's my favorite LEGO color and also because of how crazy cool it is that it's a typewriter created out of LEGO. I was extremely careful when putting this together as I wanted it to function as expected. However, it left me just a little disappointed. The carriage return slides, but after just a few clicks of the keys, it stops moving. Some of the keys you have to tap harder than others. I definitely don't want to take it apart to rebuild. Again this is a typewriter built from LEGO, so I certainly don't expect it to function exactly like a real typewriter. It is an amazing display piece and I enjoy it as it is!

Rats.

the idea of this build is beautiful. absolutely beautiful, I have memories of this avocado green typewriter in my folks house, also in 7th grade I had a real typing class, not a word processor or a computer of any sort. The idea is Super neat. However, it doesn’t work as a typewriter to play with. not at all. the other critical reviews have a point. And just to say, one of the coolest thing about this build was the steno size notebook that came with the build. It’s filled with a sweet lego letter, in many languages (amazingly neat) to all fans that fits into the typewriter. but….the typewriter is missing the numbers and that pretend letter that I get to play with HAS NUMBERS in it. like dates, rats. typewriters from this era did have one row of numbers at least. But even without my head trip about the numbers, this build doesn’t work. It’s just highly unstable. I know this is terrible review, but everyone, trust me: the keys do not return once pressed. The pictures for the directions of each step are missing that key element that outlines what is being added for each step. That really wouldn’t be too much of an issue, it is a serious build afterall, right? But the fact that it doesn't work or even assemble correctly is highly frustrating. especially when I trying go back through the directions to understand more about what I might gave done wrong. Instead the build gets pulled apart only to follow the same odd build instructions again. Also, it can’t really be held while added the prices for each step without it snapping apart. It just needs better thought for this build, lego and retail experience. This was a gift build from my mom, I was super excited to share with her the end results. I’ll say it again, rats. Thank you for listening.

Awesome Adult Themed Set

I build Lego sets for therapeutic reasons and this set was amazing. I was not disappointed and would recommend this set to anyone needing a break from the daily grind to readjust mental focus. The details are really spot on and the tech part (typing keys) is a nice addition. You are going to want to go slow with this set because of the mechanics behind it.

A very fun build... Amazing display piece

I have always wanted a typewriter, but they were too expensive, and I could never find one that really fit my home or office decor. Then Lego announced this guy, I knew I had to have it. The build took me a little longer because of time, but over 11 nights I opened one bag of legos, put on my favorite music and savored the build. There is a lot of moving parts, which makes the build even more fun. I am excited to display my typewriter, and its even more magical because its a Lego piece!

Beautiful Display Piece for Technologists

I purchased this beautiful typewriter as a display piece for my office. Very technical and fun build.
As a professor of Information Systems/Technology I love how this typewriter captures the important influence that analog technologies had on society before the advent of digital input devices such as the keyboard. My students love it and it's also a great conversation starter on the history of the QWERTY typing system which is still prevalent, despite being obsolete and inefficient in the digital age.
