A wonderful and nostalgic set

As an aspiring writer, I instantly fell in love with the vibe of this set. For the first time, my passion for writing and LEGO merged and I knew I had to have it. The sleek design was something that would look beautiful on my desk and it would let people instantly know what I was all about. After finally getting it and building it, I can honestly say that it’s one of the most unique sets I have ever put together. It was a little bit challenging, mainly due to the fact that I had never done a Technic build before (the instructions make it easy though, even for a rookie like me). The exterior is solid bricks but the inside is an intricately detailed and stunning series of moving parts. It was amazing playing with the final product and realizing that I built it with my own hands. So much love and care went into this idea, and I’m so happy it exists!

My daughter used to be a Lego fanatic. Expert-level designs beyond the most complicated sets. Watching her interest grow and participating here and there sparked my interest. So much so, that I've found assembling sets to be a great stress reliever. And THIS set did not disappoint. It is very detailed and multi-layered. The designer must be a genius to have come up with how to replicate an old fashion typewriter. He took no shortcuts. It was so much fun to put together over the span of a week. (Wanted to savor the experience.) It is now proudly displayed in my office. Love it. Well done, Lego Ideas. More, please!!!

My wife loves it

Bought it for my wife as a birtbday gift. She loves it. She did have an issue with the type writer at first but after I debugged it, found that she had swapped a few parts. This was due to poor instructions. We both agreed that the NES had better instructions. Hence i docked one block from build experience. Overall, we are both happy with it. Being showcased with NES and Atari.

Absolutely love this set. So much fun. If you buy this set, make sure to pay attention to the details in the directions. Don’t second guess yourself, take your time, and have fun. The pieces WILL fit and/or tie together eventually in a further step. Double check your work, know they will fit eventually, and don’t stress it because it’s supposed to be fun. Some pieces will be a challenge. Anyways, I adore this build. I recommend to any experienced builder or to one looking for a Lego challenge. Definitely worth the money. So many little surprises with this one as I never knew which piece of the typewriter would end up “working”. Not every single aspect of the typewriter “works”. Let’s be honest people, it would have to get very intricate and complex to make every part of a typewriter in Lego form actually “work”. To make it enjoyable for almost everyone across the board.. I’m sure the Lego team can only include so many aspects along with making detailed and precise directions to follow. It’s supposed to be fun guys. Again, highly recommend and very happy with my purchase.

Fun but faulty.

Building this set was very fun and kept me busy after I got home from work however in the end my typewriter didn’t move as quick after every key was pressed like I’ve seen in review videos. I double sometimes triple checked my work but it’s just not how I wanted. It DOES move just maybe after ever 5-6 keys are pressed.
I would recommend this to a friend!

My set was missing all the letters except the top row. To say this was annoying is an understatement. I had to wait a week for everything to come in and finish it. For the price I expect more.

Fun, beautiful, and challenging

You guys, I knew I wanted this set the minute I saw it and I received it from my boyfriend for my birthday. The set arrived yesterday and I started building it right away. I love LEGO so much and right now I’m really not doing any bigger builds until we move (no space)… but the minute I had the box in my hand I knew exactly what had to be done. I had so much fun building this set. I loved it from start to finish. You get to start playing with the typewriter on like bag 3 or 4. Everything about this set is brilliant. Congratulations to Steve Guinness too… what an amazing accomplishment. I’m so glad you were able to share this set with us. Thank you LEGO for giving us the platform to share our ideas too. This build is very special. If you are on the fence about purchasing, I would highly recommend getting it.
