Easy to use and gives me peace of mind

We have been using the owlet sock on our baby from day 1. It is super easy to use and gives us peace of mind at night. Along with monitoring lung capacity and heart rate it also keeps track of their sleep patterns which is really nice to look back on. I would recommend it to any and all parents of newborns!

Burned my child

I used an owlet monitor on both of my twins at night while they slept since the day they came home from the NICU. Yesterday I noticed a burn on one of their feet, will definitely be reaching out directly.

Saved Baby’s Life

I had terrible postpartum anxiety when our first child was born. I would cry every night when the sun went down because I was so afraid to put my baby to bed. I wish I had this with her. When we had our second daughter this was a MUST have item for me because I couldn’t face that anxiety again. Little did I know that the Owlet would actually end up saving her life. When she was just 6 days old the alarm sounded for low oxygen. At first we thought that it was perhaps a false alarm so I roused her and monitored her oxygen for awhile. It increased slightly but stayed in the 80s. Still, I wasn’t sure if it was user error since we had just started using it. When it alarmed again an hour later we knew it wasn’t a false alarm and took her to urgent care. They confirmed she was having difficulty keeping her oxygen above 80 and called an ambulance. We spent a week in the hospital while they ran tests. They could never determine why she was constantly de-sating and she was sent home on oxygen for 3 months. Our insurance wouldn’t cover a home use pulse-ox for her and so our Owlet became even more crucial for us. Over the next 3 months it alerted us 8 more times when her oxygen dropped even while on oxygen. She is now a happy and healthy, thriving, almost 3 year-old. She is also now a big sister to our 3rd baby who we bought the Smart Sock 3 for. He is almost 4 months old and wears it for every nap and bedtime. The Owlet is a true life saver and has given us so much peace of mind. I recommend it to everyone who will listen.

Great Concept Horrible Execution

We bought this in anticipation of our first child being born. She has since been born and we attempted to use the sock for the last week, to no avail. Every night after about 5 minutes the app says “App searching for base station”. We have attempted all the troubleshooting ideas proposed by customer service. I wanted to love this product so bad, but I cannot when it fails to work even one night.

Cant be 10'feet from base

Verified Purchase:No
Amazing concept! Although our son sleeps in his own room more than 10 feet from us so the sock and base station will not connect! So unless your baby sleeps in your room its pointless to have. Will not connect if its more than 10 feet from base.

Peace of Mind Makes for Peaceful Sleep
on August 9, 2021

I purchased the Smart Sock 3rd generation when my son (born 9 weeks prematurely) started coming down with what we believed was a cold. He had a stuffy nose and a cough that really seemed to bother him. I was worried about putting him in his crib which is on the other side of the house even though we have a video monitor. I felt that having the Smart Sock in addition to a video monitor would help me get the rest I needed and feel at ease with letting my son sleep in his own room. The second night we used the Smart Sock, we got a red alert indicating low oxygen levels and we rushed to check on him. He seemed more ill than the previous day, so we took him to the ER and they diagnosed him with RSV. Without the Smart Sock, we might have waited longer to take him in to be evaluated which could have had serious consequences! I highly recommend the Smart Sock 3 to any parent with a new baby! You’ll sleep so much better!

The best baby purchase I made!

When I first found out I was pregnant I started a list of everything I’d need (I am an obsessive list maker and planner). I knew I wanted the owlet but with everything else I’d purchased I talked myself out of it and justified why I didn’t need to spend a relatively large amount of money on an item I deemed unnecessary. I was the typical worried first time mom, I awoke with every little peep she made and constantly checked on her throughout the night to make sure my little one was still breathing. My family came to help during the first few weeks and we all took shifts throughout the night and NO ONE was allowed to sleep on their shift, even if the baby was sleeping, their job was to make sure the she was breathing at all times. Silly huh? Even with my family/husband watching her I’d wake up when it wasn’t my shift just to double check, so much sleep missed out on.
Fast forward 3-4 months, I am finally ready to put the little one in her own room. The first night she did great, I didn’t sleep. The second night was great as well, ok, I can get used to this. Third night I am much more relaxed, but I wake up in the middle of the night and see on the monitor she rolled over onto her stomach (while swaddled). I freak and rush into her room terrified she had suffocated. Little one was just fine, sleeping soundly on her stomach which ended up being the position she would sleep in from that night on. We ditched the swaddles, but I was still concerned because she would have her face in the mattress and I was worried she couldn’t breathe. Ok, we made it 3 days and now I’m back to no sleeping. I woke up every few hours, saw her face down in the monitor and would rush into her room. One night I even slept on the floor of her bedroom because I was so scared. I would stand above her crib and sob because I was so tired and so worried; she kept sleeping face-down. I screamed at my husband while sobbing, I told him I wanted the owlet and I NEEDED SLEEP! That night my husband ordered the owlet and we picked it up at the store the next day, LIFE CHANGER! My little one still sleeps on her stomach and still has her face close to the mattress, but I can see her O2 levels so I don’t rush in to check on her. I still wake up multiple times throughout the night but glance over at my phone, see she is ok, and drift back to sleep. I am getting better sleep and my baby is getting better sleep because I’m not constantly trying to flip her over causing her to wake up throughout the night.
Long story short, GET THIS! If you value your sleep GET THIS! If you are a worried first time parent GET THIS! My only regret is waiting until she was almost 4 months old, I feel like I missed out on so much rest in the beginning, but not anymore!

Peace of mind for a premie baby
on September 28, 2021

We decided to purchase the Owlet sock after our premie baby had spent the first few days of her life in the NICU and we became accustomed to the blood oxygen monitoring she had there. After using it for about a month, we have been very happy with the purchase.
PROS: Provides peace of mind while your baby sleeps in a way that is otherwise difficult to have. If the Owlet sock dock isn't making an alarm sound, you can be assured that your baby's heartbeat and oxygen levels are both normal. The sock has also proven useful to build confidence that our daughter can safely tolerate something new. We used the sock during her first experience in all of the following, which gave us both confidence and peace of mind: baby bouncer, baby carrier backpack, and sleep sack. For example, the baby carrier backpack could be used from 7 pounds, which we were eager to try once our daughter reached that weight milestone. But as a small, premature baby, we were a bit reluctant to try it. But by first putting the Owlet sock on her before going into the carrier for the first time, it gave us the confidence knowing we'd immediately be alerted if she had difficulty breathing once inside the carrier.
CONS: The only one worth mentioning is the sock does not fit well on very small feet. Our daughter was 5.5 pounds at birth, and even the smallest size of sock simply was too big for her for at least the first 2 weeks. Eventually we found that installing the sock upside down actually fit better and ensured the sensor stayed close to her foot during the whole night. For our less than 7 pound baby, we found that using the smallest sock in the right orientation must be fastened to an uncomfortable tightness in order to work properly.
