My daughter was born a month early. Not terrifyingly early, but enough to make a first time mama nervous. We spent a week in the NICU and got so used to the monitors and constant attention. When we got home, I didn't sleep for a week. I just sat up all night and watched her. I was an absolute wreck...until I was given an Owlet. Almost immediately, I was able to sleep soundly (well, as soundly as possible with an infant). The green glow is so reassuring. I thought for sure that was all I would ever see, but one morning around 5:30am, I had put her down after a feeding and gone back to sleep when, out of nowhere, I was jolted awake by the red alert. It took me a second to figure out what was happening, but as soon as I realized what it was, I looked in her bassinet. She was choking. She was silently gagging and flailing her arms wildly. I've never seen anyone looking so utterly panic stricken. I grabbed her, turned her over my arm and patted her back. She continued gagging and her mouth was starting to turn blue. I grabbed the bulb syringe and started sucking. I heard suction, but she still wasn't breathing. I dialed 911, continued suctioning, then swept my finger through the back of her mouth. I cleared a glob of mucous and regurgitated milk and then the 911 operator talked me through a rescue breath. By the time the paramedics arrived, she was breathing and her color was starting to return. Without the Owlet, I don't know if she would still be alive. I've recommended it to every parent and parent-to-be that I know.

Don't expect to use it for a year - fails!

I purchased my owlet for my baby and it seemed to work fairly well for a few months. I always had issues with connectivity (would get blue notifications all the time) and I never could use the newest app with it. I called customer care and they said that since I didn't own a camera, I could continue using the older app.
A little over a year with the product, the sock just stopped charging. And the base no longer reacted to being plugged in. I was told since it was over a year old, the warranty was no longer available. This isn't a cheap product, so to have it fail so quickly is disappointing. The only response I go to this was to purchase a whole new unit again. So forget using it for a second child.
It did give me peace of mind, when it decided to work. But with the constant connectivity issues and then just failing after only one year, be prepared to have a very expensive paperweight!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

After losing a child to SIDS, this helped so much!

I bought this for my 4th child after losing my son to sids at 10 weeks old. I didn’t think I was going to ever be able to sleep when we had the baby, I was so scared. But when we got it & used it since the day she came home from the hospital, it’s been amazing! You have to reconnect it to the WiFi sometimes when you don’t use it for a day or so but other than that, it’s perfect!

This monitor is a lifesaver. My daughter was born 2 months premature and any parent with a preemie will tell you that you become accustomed to the monitors strapped on at the NICU. When we were going to transition to bringing her home I was looking for a monitor that could give us that extra bit of assurance. I looked and tried a lot of monitors... even brought them into the NICU to test them against the hospital grade equipment. The Owlet was always accurate and proved to be the perfect fit for our family. I could not imagine life without it. If you are on the fence... buy it. You won't regret it.
Pros: Accurate, Sleek design
Cons: cant be worn all the time as it needs to charge, doesn't work when child is moving

I love this concept. The sock is cute and comfortable and easy to use. I love that I can check in on my baby from my phone and find comfort in knowing I will be alerted if something is wrong. However, initially I was getting low heart rate false alarms so I changed sock sizes. Now we get up to 5 alarms a night that the sock can't get a reading or is disconnected. I have followed all the directions and tried troubleshooting. I've done research and changed the sock sizes. I've reached out to customer support but have yet to resolve the issue. Unfortunately I can't use this great product because the false alarms wake my baby and family up throughout the night.
Pros: GREAT Idea, peace of mind when it works properly
Cons: Too many false alarms

Won’t work

For three days I can’t use it cause it won’t connect. There has been no update when the socks will begin working again. they have a message on the app says they know it’s an issue and will get it back soon.... we need for information as to when to expect it to work. This is getting ridiculous.

Great idea, but the app needs to be more reliable

Even though this is our fourth child, my wife was very concerned about our baby being alone in her crib at night in another room (before age 1). We saw this and heard good things, so we decided to give it a shot. When it's working, its a great comfort. The problem I have is that the app is very touchy, logs you out seemingly randomly and always seems to have some sort of problem connecting and having normal readings. (even when the baby is in deep sleep). The thing that then worries me is whether the baby is ACTUALLY being monitored. The problems with the app make this a big problem for me. Also, with the price we paid, I would expect a higher quality application, especially since it's monitoring our babies vitals.
Pros: Easy To Setup, GREAT Idea, Good Hardware
Cons: application reliability, charging mechanism for sock

Worked great for 5 months

Worked great for 5 months. After that it goes off every 30 min from getting disconnected. We’re sleeping less now than having a newborn. Tried an internet extender thinking it was our internet. We’re stopping using it earlier than we wanted due to the alarm always going off
