Believe this saved my son

We bought the Owlet Smart Sock when our son was a week or so old... So far it's been the best purchase we've made. We've had a few alarms go off at night when it lost connectivity or the battery died because we forgot to charge it that day. Last night we had a "red alert" go off around 4:00 am. I initially thought it was a false alarm but when checking on him I found his face tucked firmly in the corner of his crib (the one place where there are no gaps or mesh). I immediately moved him and found in the Owlet app that his oxygen levels had dropped from his normal 97-95% down to 69% when i got to him. I thank God that we made this purchase and will recommend to everyone.

Saved my 3 month old!

My daughter was napping right on me while I sat on the couch watching tv. The base started alarming and I checked my phone to see why, it said her o2 was 73%. She was asleep right on my chest, I thought there was no way. I readjusted the sock and it still was 73%, alarming like crazy. So I tried to wake her up, she wouldn’t wake up. Then she stopped breathing and started to turn purple. I immediately called 911, and spent the time until they got here trying to wake her up And get her to breathe again. We were admitted for a day, and she has covid results pending. Other than that there is no explanation why that happened. I’m convinced she would’ve been another sids case if I wasn’t alerted her o2 dropped. This monitor saved my daughters life.

Horrible app! And it just gets worse over time!

Had the sock and cam for 5 MONTHS and it only works right 1/2 the time! Not worth your money. I take the sock off him sometimes without turning it off and the monitor never notices unless I have the app open! The whole point is to monitor the sleeping baby all night.... not just when I open the app!!! I would love my money back so I can go elsewhere

I have been trying to use this sock on my son for the past month and all I get is a notification saying sick placement is wrong I’ve adjusted it several times watched video after video and simply can not get the garbage to work. It is most definitely not worth the money at all.

Saved Our Baby

We did not use the Owlet with our first born so my husband and I didn’t think we needed it for our second baby.. but with the pandemic and mix of postpartum emotions I decided after one week to go buy it for peace of mind- and did we get WAY more than that! The same night of purchase the heart rate alarm went off and we thought we just positioned it wrong- repositioned and it was still going off >250. Our one week old showed no signs of anything- she was content, eating fine, and peacefully sleeping. We decided to take it off for the night and reevaluate and call owlet in the morning for help. However, my gut made me call the doctor that morning and they said go to ER now just in case. She was in a abnormal rhythm (A.Flutter) and the doctor said she was only a few hours away from heart failure or worse- death. After many emotional hours and procedures she was stable and in the PICU. Those few hours of gut wrenching emotions don’t compare to what could’ve been.. Thank you Owlet!

I woke up at 2am to my three month old coming on her own vomit, her entire body was convulsing as she was struggling to breath. Not once did this sound off or alert me that she was struggling to get oxygen!!!!! You add this to the camera always freezing and randomly stops working, it’s just not safe.

We have used the owlet since the day we brought our baby home. After 5 losses we were anxious about everything. I am a post partum RN and I see and hear a lot of things that made me even more nevrvous. The owlet has been a definite mind easier for us. So glad we went ahead and invested in one.

Constant false alarms for us... wouldn't recommend.

I was beyond thrilled to use this product but the end result has left me frustrated and upset! The idea itself is great, but the outcome is very frustrating. The lack of instructions as to how it all works leaves out the annoying parts of how it all actually works! The base station has the be in the same room as the sock, so if you do get a false alarm, which we did every time we tried to use the thing, then it wakes your sleeping baby up and scares you to death! The other thing we didn't know until after we bought it was that it only works while the baby is sleeping... as long as they are still as a rock. If they wiggle, the readings pause, until it can get a good reading again. Not bad, but that means you have to get your baby to sleep, wait until they settle in after laying them down, then start the monitoring.... when means less sleep for you just waiting to turn the monitoring on. That was frustrating for us. Keep in mind, no readings while in a swing sleeping or if they use a vibrator under the bed... it blocks the signal. But the worst is that as many times as we tried to make this work, the readings would show great then 5 minutes later that alarm would go off and scare us all to death. It's a great idea... just wish it worked and was easier to monitor. I'm getting our refund and will stick to doing things the old fashioned way. (And before I get asked, yes... the sock was on the left foot and we made sure it was properly fit each time)
