Great products. Terrible App
on October 11, 2019

I have the camera and sock, those 2 together are peace of mind and so much more! Like the title states, great products, but the app is absolutely terrible. Audio goes in and out, the camera is working but not coming up on my phone, and the app crashes once every ten minutes! Owlet, please let someone else do your app or get different people in there and update it, please!

We've slept great since day one

We bought the sock and camera and have not regretted it. We had our first child and knew we would worry ourselves into sleepless nights. The sock gave us peace of mind and the camera allowed my fiance to keep an eye on our daughter with out needing to get up through out the night. Our daughter had a short stay in the NICU so we learned to keep an eye on her based on her heart rate and the sock allowed us to maintane that after bringing her home.

Peace of mind, but not perfect

I love the peace of mind this device brings me. I have anxiety, so being able to check on my baby’s heart rate and oxygen levels at will helped me cope. I didn’t have to get up and check that she was breathing constantly, and I wasn’t afraid to go to sleep. Low oxygen alarms went off occasionally while I was feeding her, but I read that was normal. At least I knew it was working!
My complaint is that it doesn’t always keep a good connection, particularly if the base station isn’t in the same room as the baby. Even with both doors open and our rooms about twenty feet away, the sock will lose connection or range with the base station at random. You can opt to turn off the sound on the base station itself, but not on the app! So sometimes I get woken up (often several times before it resolves) by the alarm going off on my phone. Very annoying.

Worth every single penny!

I purchased the owlet monitor after my third baby was born three months early. I did not have it for my first two, full term babies, but knowing what I know now I wish that I had. I am still waking up every three hours in the middle of the night, but the sleep that I get in between is much more sound because I have that reassurance from owlet.
The sock wraps around the bottom of the foot and around the ankle so it is very secure. I feel as if it is more secure than the posey that falls off a lot in NICU. the alarm will sound if the sock is not positioned correctly so you can be sure it is on the right way. The alarm is a loud but soft lullaby so it doesn’t startle you like any other type of alarm does but it would be sure to wake you up.
The app works really well with the sock. I can turn the base station on and off through there without leaving the warmth of my bed. Our son does not seem to mind having the sock on at all. With three different sizes of sock to use so that it can grow with him, we will be using ours for quite some time. I recommend this product to everyone. I feel like it has made an amazing difference in the anxiety I feel putting my premature baby to sleep at night which is crucial for new parents.

It was great until the app update

I bought this when my son was discharged from the hospital after a 64 day stay in the NICU. It was great and we loved knowing his vital signs were stable while we were sleeping. However, after the app update the app became slow and sometimes wouldn’t connect for several minutes. It alarmed 2-3 times when there was no issue and we received alerts that said it was caused by something they were working on in the app. Holy heart attack- one of them was in the middle of the night. The company recognized the issues with the app and offered to send out a free sock. However, we never received it. Overall, I do think it has given us piece of mind and better sleep but the issues with the new app have been a huge let down. If I could go back now knowing these issues and the amount of money we spent- I would probably look for a true medical oximeter.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I bought the Owlet smartsock 2 when I brought my daughter home from the NICU. I hadn't planned to buy it when I was pregnant, but my daughter was born with an extra electrical pathway in her heart that causes SVT. While most of her monitoring is done with a stethoscope during the day, I use the owlet at night. Within the first week of got a false low oxygen alarm but didn't panic because I was holding her and she was obviously fine. The owlet has successfully alarmed for three episodes of SVT, and allowed me to act accordingly quickly instead of it going on for hours before I knew. Each time it alarmed I double checked with the stethoscope though, because I don't entirely trust it. I will say the app has an unreasonable amount of connectivity issues. When I take the sock off and forget to turn off the base the base alarm goes off right away but the app sometimes doesn't alarm for 30 or more minutes. Overall, this does give me peace of mind but I wouldn't necessarily want it if my daughter didn't have this particular heart condition.

Ranges
on December 16, 2019

I like the owlet monitor for the peace of mind it gives me and live vital signs updates but I do not like the preset ranges for those vitals. The low range is too low and actually too late for intervention to be started when it falls below that level.
Please update your software so that we can set our own range!!!!
