The reason I get any sleep at night!

Everything from purchase to use has been excellent for us. My son was born premature, so taking him home was quite anxiety provoking. Prior to leaving the hospital, he had had some oxygen related issues due to his young age. The owlet has watched over him when we needed rest and served as a key tool to my sons night time safety tools. He also sleeps in our room adjacent my bed consistent with the recent AAP recommendations. Cannot imagine not having the owlet!

More than peace of mind

This is my second owlet but my first smart sock 2. I'll start with my general review, why I LOVE owlet, then move onto why the smart sock 2 is better than the first generation. My husband is a paramedic with our local fire department. He can have night terrors, and even before having a baby he would wake up terrified that one of our animals, or I, wasn't breathing. I've been woken up multiple times. Having the owlet gives him such peace of mind. Being able to check the oxygen level is such a relief for both of us and allows us to sleep so much better. The app is easy to use, set up is simple, and it gives us one less thing to worry about. Okay, here's why I love Owlet- we've had red notifications go off, mostly when my son was little and would focus more on eating than breathing and his rates would dip. I'd pull him off, he'd take a deep breath and it would be fine. Always scary hearing that alarm but not a big deal. When he was around six months, and fully capable of rolling over both ways we went on a vacation and on the night we returned home after a seven hour road trip we decided to set him up in his pack in play next to us while we slept. He was exhausted and in the middle of the night he flipped on his stomach and was face down on a non breathable surface. The alarm going off didn't wake him, us lifting him up didn't wake him, it wasn't until we sat him up and said his name while shaking his arms that he groggily opened his eyes and went back to sleep. If it wasn't for the Owlet, we don't know what would have happened, but we both think it could have easily been the end. So, we LOVE our Owlet! Our second baby is on the way, and we decided to upgrade to the smart sock 2. Our first generation isn't holding a charge for long, and is having trouble charging and the sensor is starting to have trouble connecting to the base. We debated just buying a new sensor but we're so glad we upgraded! The range is the biggest difference we notice, and I'm out of characters :)

The owlet seemed like a wonderful idea. However this has not been a good investment. It does not work properly it continues to cut off, says the baby is wiggling (as babies do) so it will not provide a reading
Cons: Keeps cutting off, The range is terrible

I love the fact that it goes onto your child's foot securely and that adjustments can be made with Velcro to ensure it's the right fit. I am a foster parent, and as such, I recognize that babies in the foster care system are at an increased risk for SIDS due to the trauma they experienced while in utero. I love the fact that this helps bring some safety/security to parents and babies. I know other foster parents that have owlet as well, and call it their "baby fitbit." I felt that was appropriate! There is one major thing I would change or tweak to make more functional: - I spent quite a bit of time trying to figure out if there was a way to make my phone alert me loudly when red, blue, or yellow alerts came, but there doesn't appear to be a way, or it's not obvious. Eventually we will be moving our baby into his nursery, and I would like a loud alert rather than the base station that is far away. I'd prefer to have this without a) having the sound turned on for all calls, texts, etc. on my phone and b) having to have the base station alert travel through a baby monitor.
Pros: Baby "fitbit", Many sock sizes, Peace when you sleep
Cons: Does not fit preemie babies very well, Does not loudly alert on phone

I am so glad that we have this kind of technology today. I was always so nervous when putting my little one to bed at night. I was constantly waking up to check to make sure everything was fine. My husband talked me into ordering the owlet and boy am I glad I did. Yes it is alittle pricey but it is so worth the money. It gives me a piece of mind at night that no other product could give me. We have had no issues at all and we have been using it for almost 2 months now. The only thing I would like to see improved on is the app for Android phones. My husband has an iPhone and the app works perfectly for him but on my android it has some issues with the notifications and staying connected. I highly recommend this product, we will be buying one for my niece who is due in just a few short months!

I love the Owlet. It gives you piece of mind. Ever since we purchased I have slept better. Prompt response when contacting customer service through chat. Even at 11 pm at night. The only issue I have is the app but I don't have as many issues I have read. You must read instructions completely and follow every step. Once I did that it worked great (especially after update in early March) Thank you so much for this product!
