Best piece of mind money can buy

I absolutely love the owlet monitor. We had the smart sock 2 with our first child. I purchased it shortly after he was born as I suffered from PPA. It was the biggest peace of mind and help me get some sleep at night. When he was 4 months old we got several red notifications in the middle of the night that his oxygen levels had dipped below the threshold. We took him to the ER to get checked out and we are so glad we did. He tested positive for RSV and was admitted to hospital. We spent 4 nights in the hospital with him on oxygen. I’ll be forever grateful to the owlet because it quite possibly saved his life. We now have a newborn on the house again, and we upgraded to the smart sock 3. I like the updates of the socks for each feet and the updates in the app. My only wish is that they could wear this device until they were grown and gone. But in all seriousness, I highly recommend to any new parent.

Our second baby was stillborn at 37 weeks. When it was time to bring our rainbow baby home we were extremely anxious that something would go wrong. Having this sock gave us peace of mind. I can check on him a normal amount now instead of obsessively all night. I like the alerts, and the monitoring via the app. We have not had any issues with the device.

My child caught covid and was in the hospital for a few days. After coming home I had such a piece of mind since I had the sock. I love the features and how you can look more In to detail on the app.

Great for peace of mind, but could be better.

After doing some research, I decided to get the Owlet for peace of mind. I'll start with the cons, but once you get to the pros, you'll see why I would still recommend this regardless of the quirks.
CONS - User error is high. Our newborn is two weeks old and we've probably gotten a false alarm or "unable to read" alert, on average, once a day. This could be due to a multitude of things; common things that have triggered it are the sock being too loose, or the baby starts fussing. The way we've combated this at this point is, we turn off the base station if we know we're going to tend to her immediately, readjust accordingly, then turn it back on when she falls back asleep. We use this method when she's crying, when we're changing her, and of course, when we're far away from the base station (e.g. on a walk). - The UX for "background" could be a bit more intuitive. What's nice is, the icon stays on my phone (I have an Android), but when I click on it, it only gives me the option to mute or unmute the background. It would be nice if that instead gave me the option to open up the actual Owlet app since I'm reaching for it constantly.
PROS - The base station detects the sock surprisingly far and through rooms. I know the manual says it doesn't, but it does for us, which I am happy about. - The sock is super easy to put on, without disrupting the baby, even if she's asleep. - The sock tracks O2, heartrate, and sleep habits. I can imagine this data will be helpful when we start sleep training in a few months. - I appreciate that this is over wifi, and that I don't need a separate monitor (instead, my phone is the monitor). That said, if my phone battery wasn't as strong, it would be nice to have a separate monitor to purchase, should we choose to do so. - The peace of mind having this product on her is definitely the biggest pro here - if she's fussing and we can't hear her, you better betcha the sock will tell you. And of course, the O2 and heartrate monitoring are the main features we appreciate.
IMPROVEMENTS THAT WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE - The UI isn't great on my Android as when I place the monitor on "full screen," I can only rotate it one direction. This mostly becomes a problem if I'm charging my phone with a shorter cable and can't rotate it in the direction I need. Really, this is an XS problem. - Notifications are set in time increments instead of live; because of this, I don't really use this feature at all. Totally get that it'd be difficult to set push notifications for every movement, but I also don't understand why time increments matter (the takeaway here is - I haven't personally found use for this function) - Being able to have multiple users on one account, instead of sharing one username and password. My partner and I take shifts with our newborn, so when it comes to "who is monitoring," it would be nice to be able to toggle who is monitoring vs who is getting some well-deserved rest. - Would be nice to be able to cast the monitor to other household devices (e.g. Apple TV). We can mirror it, and I can imagine there may be security risks with this.. but just a thought for convenience. - Similar security risk, but throwing it out there - would be nice to have a recording feature, similar to Nest. In all honesty, once our baby gets old enough to flip over on her own, we will probably switch to a Nest for this function.
Is this the perfect product? No. Would I recommend this product? Absolutely.

Peace of mind!

My husband bought this for me for Christmas for our little boy. We had struggled to get pregnant and had issues during the pregnancy so I was a nervous wreck! We LOVE this sock. Every night it gives us peace of mind. He makes some questionable noises so being able to make sure his oxygen was at a good level gave us peace knowing it was just normal newborn grunts. The app is easy to use, its easy to set up, it is worth the money 10000%!

Must Have!

We were gifted the Owlet for our “rainbow baby” after losing our second child to “SIDS”. During pregnancy I was already experiencing anxiety about how I was going to sleep without the overwhelming worry of experiencing loss again. We had gifted several Owlets to friends after the loss of our sweet girl, but were still so anxious. We started using the Owlet the second day we were home and it has provided some much needed peace. We would 100% recommend this product to anyone - 1st baby, 10th baby, baby after loss, etc. If you are on the fence - just do it!

I am a medical foster parent abs I have been using for 3 months. I also simultaneously have had prescribed a pulse ox machine, and a sleep apnea machine. Owlet HANDS down is the winner!!! Pulse ox machine is the same as hospital but comes off constantly. Apnea machine wires get disconnected. Owlet is reliable, consistent, and amazing!!!! Worth every penny!! Only thing I wish I could change is changing alarm to 90 for oxygen instead of 80.
