Peace of mind

My son had some apnea episodes around one month old. On discharge from the hospital, I ordered the SmartSock so that I could have some peace of mind. It has been great!

Game changer

My baby went to the NICU on his first night outside of the womb because he choked on amniotic fluid. While in the NICU, he stopped breathing again for no reason. He spent 5 days there before being discharged.
We got the owlet smart sock v3 because of this history and we knew we would struggle sleeping out of paranoia. The neonatal practitioner at the hospital warned us that it might give false readings. The monitor at the hospital gave many false readings and this is not a hospital grade product.
We have been using it for over a month now and have found that we like it even better than the NICU monitor. It’s a lot less finicky so it doesn’t give us unnecessary warnings (I recognize this is still a possibility, but it’s nice that it hasn’t happened yet). Thankfully we haven’t had any emergencies within that time. Both my husband and I have been able to get much more restful sleep because of it. On nights where we forget to put it on, we both sleep much lighter and feel tired the next day. Even if your baby never has an emergency while wearing the sock, it still serves the important purpose of bringing peace of mind to sleeping. So whether or not you actually end up having to use it to save your baby’s life, it has a lot of value.

We got the sock for our newborn son, and I’m so glad we did! I knew I wanted it before he was even born. It fits great and doesn’t come off easily from baby’s movement. Just having it on him and seeing the green light of the monitor at night makes me feel so much better. The alerts are very loud and even alarm on your phone too.
The only cons are that the sock tends r dry out his skin a little (nothing some lotion won’t fix) and that the WiFi was tricky to set up - but the company was VERY quick at helping set up this issue, even late at night. 10/10 would recommend.

Great peace of mind

I received this product as a gift from my MIL once my son was discharged from NICU with breathing issues. I understand that the Owlet sock is not a medical device but it gave me peace of mind knowing I could monitor him and would receive alerts. I wish it was able monitor body temperature.

I bought this in December when I learn my baby;s heart beat was skipping. It was suggested by one of the pediatrician that you can try for your peace of mind. It has done wonders.

To say I am happy with this product is an understatement. This is hands down my favorite baby item that we own and am so thankful that this technology is available to us. It has given me so much peace of mind while my baby sleeps which means I can get some much needed rest while. I had the generation 2 sock with my first born and the generation 3 is far less glitchy and much easier to use. I love the magnet drop charger! Very convenient compared to fumbling around with a tiny charger. The new app is also much more user friendly than the one I used two years ago. All in all this is an amazing product and I am very happy with this purchase.

A must-have

The first two nights in the hospital without the Owlet were rough— I could NOT sleep because I constantly felt the need to check he was still breathing, especially with some of the choking and gagging due to the amniotic fluid he ingested during delivery. Nights changed immediately for us when we got home and were able to use the Owlet sock. It gave me the peace of mind to be able to sleep, knowing I could look over at the green light anytime and that I’d be alerted to anything in the night. Although I’m getting very minimal sleep because of a hungry newborn, I know I’d be getting ZERO sleep without the Owlet.
I give it 4 stars instead of 5 (even though it truly is one of my most important baby items) because there are a couple things I wish made it easier. The setup was a bit of a mess and had to retry for over an hour to get it setup, but thankfully we got this done before baby was born and haven’t had any issues connecting since. The only other thing is that I wish the sock was a bit easier to get on and keep on. We don’t have issues with it getting moved on his foot that often, but of course when it does happen, it’s in the middle of the night with a footie pj and sleep sack we have to open up. Newborn feet are so bendy and curled that keeping the tab on the pinky toe can be a challenge— but it’s all worth it once it’s on to be able to close my eyes, even if just for an hour or so.

I bought this a month and a half before my baby was born. I read countless reviews on this website and in mom Facebook groups. The general consensus is that it helped ease a lot of the anxiety around infant sleep and SIDS for parents. I also have a friend who has an owlet that alerted her that her baby stopped breathing in the middle of the night. It did turn out to be serious but thankfully the baby made a full recovery!
The product comes with multiple socks so you can get the right sizing for your baby. It’s easy to get on (if your baby isn’t squirming) the only part I would improve is the ankle velcro attachment. Sometimes it’s tough to get velcroed!
This product has really given me a peace of mind as a first time mom. I love the app to occasionally check her readings throughout the night. Once we move her from our room to her crib, I am so thankful we have something to alert us if anything we’re to happen with her breathing. Thanks Owlet!!
