TERRIBLE

I was so excited when I ordered this monitor! The packaging was beautiful and looked to be high quality. When I got it all set up I had problems left and right. It freezes all the time, the talk back option is pointless because your voice breaks up so bad you can’t even understand words, It’s really delayed, and the worst part ever is the static! Sometimes there was no static and other times (most of the time) I couldn’t even leave the sound on because the static was so intense. I went to return to item and they DO NOT offer free returns so that’s $22 out of your pocket to ship back. It has just been so much stress and really upsetting.

Saved our Baby's Life

We have worn the Sock nearly 360 of 364 days of our child's life - and the day before her first birthday she had rolled onto her tummy during deep REM sleep and buried her face. The Owlet showed she wiggled, stayed very still, and stopped breathing for around 1m 10s. As soon as there was danger (we keep the sock settings less strict as not to alarm to wiggles or being awake) the alarm went off like clock work and we found her unresponsive. We are lucky to regain breathing immediately and without issue but my husband and I 250% believe the Owlet SAVED our child from SIDS. Without warning she would have slipped away in our sleep and we would have never been able to stop it. We immediately purchased a second set for my sitters home for naps and a third set for our son who is set to arrive in 5 weeks.

3 sensors in 6 months

I have the owlet for piece of mind but have had to receive a replacement sensor 3 times since my 6 month old was born. This has made my piece of mind go away as I don’t know when it’s working or not and it takes weeks to get a new sensor.

Saved My Babies Life

We purchased our first sock when we brought my son home from the hospital and it gave us peace of mind, it was a "nice to have." When I became pregnant with our second it was immediately added to the list since we wanted the latest and greatest. Our little girl came nearly three months early, we spent 9 weeks in the NICU on all sorts of monitors but we were sent home with nothing, she was fine, doing well and "just fine." Out of an abundance of caution we put the sock on her every night. A week after coming home she contracted a respiratory virus but, we had no idea. She wasn't showing any other symptoms, no fever, no cough, no congestion. That night the alarm went off, I ran into the room where our little girl was turning blue. I did all the things we were trained to do from our time in the NICU and was able to get her back after stimulation. She landed herself in the hospital for three days following the incident and was sent home with an additional pulse-ox. However, I continued to use the smart sock since the app allows me to see her stats over time, I can track her breathing and sleep day to day, hour to hour and at any point at night I can check my phone to see how she's doing without disturbing her. I can't thank Owlet Baby Care enough for creating the technology that allowed me the opportunity to be there for my baby when she needed me most. I would recommend the smart sock to anyone and everyone. It's worth it. It's more than worth it. In the grand plan of it all - it's a small price for so much information and I hope that it's never more than peace of mind but if ever that alarm goes off and wakes you from your sleep it's everything.

...For A Better Night's Sleep

My partner and I love this product! At the time of our child's birth, Owlet was not yet readily available. Therefore, our first form of vitals monitoring was with the Levana Oma Plus. With the Levana Oma, we had several false alarms due to the breathing sensor slipping off of our child's diaper. We would wake startled, but always found our child to be alright. We preferred to have a false alarm rather than no alarm at all. Unfortunately, with the Levana Oma, we also could not utilize cloth diapers at night. Once our child started to roll over and sleep on the belly, this product was useless... and, so, in comes the Owlet! I had bookmarked the Owlet website from its early stages of development. When my partner and I elected to purchase a new vitals monitoring system (after the Levana Oma), we opted to spend the extra money on the Owlet. We have not been disappointed. The Owlet is easy and seamless to use. Our child now uses cloth diapers at night (yea!). From our iPhones, we can monitor our child regardless of our location, bringing an extra sense of peace when our child is being cared for by family. As a first-time parent who has several years experience within neonatal and pediatric intensive care units, I am well-versed in the forms of monitoring that occur within the hospital walls. I believe the Owlet is far superior to many standard hospital devices. I can easily read and monitor my child's heart rate and pulse ox. I now know when my child is going to wake from sleep by observing a pattern to the changes in heart rate. After two months of use, I would purchase this product again without hesitation. The only major flaw in product design for our nightly use is that the Owlet does not have the option of coming with more than one base station. Or, better yet, I wish the base station could be battery operated as our child sleeps in multiple locations throughout the night. But, we adapt. I have recommended Owlet to several friends and acquaintances.
Pros: Ability to quickly check on baby's vitals, Alarms are appropriate (not frightening), Can check vitals regardless of location, Ease of use, especially with the iOS interface, Quickly Charges, Responsive and receptive company, easy initial set up
Cons: Base station can not be easily moved, Base station is not battery operated, Cost, Only one base station, Sock is not charged wirelessly, Vitals history not available

Totally worth the peace of mind it brings

I use the owlet while my child sleeps so that I can finally sleep as well. My daughter was a preemie, and after a stay in the NICU, I had grown used to watching the monitors to reassure myself that my daughter was alive and well. At home, I lived in terror that she would simply slip away and I wouldn't know, so I rarely slept, instead watching her to make sure she continued breathing. As you can imagine, sleep deprivation became a real safety concern. This device allows me to relax that I haven't missed a tragedy, and makes me feel like I could respond to an emergency. I am finally able to sleep while she sleeps and enjoy our waking hours together.
Pros: Peace of mind, Simple to use

I never write anything about products. I'm the one who reads reviews constantly but never contributes, until now. Here's my advice to you about the Owlet...buy it. My baby was born full term, with no issues, but as a paranoid first time mom, I had bought the Owlet sock months earlier on a sale. He's worn it every night since we've been home. Sunday night I put my happy 8 week old baby to bed and hopped in the shower. Two minutes later I got our first ever red alert. I rushed to him, checked on him, and he looked fine, so I thought it was a fluke. I changed the sock to the other foot and got back in the shower. Another red alarm but he seemed fine. Then another. I took him to the hospital, thinking it was nothing, but his oxygen was very low(as the sock had indicated)and he was immediately put on oxygen and taken to ICU. He had had a cold earlier in the week but was doing better, and he had no fever, his mood was amazing, he was eating and sleeping great. I HAD NO IDEA SOMETHING WAS WRONG. This Owlet potentially saved my baby's life. This is the only thing you need. My son is here today to prove that.

Disappointed with the camera

I bought the camera and was initially very pleased with the video quality and loved that I could look at my baby from my phone rather than needing the separate monitor. However, the camera has had nothing but connectivity issues for 2 months. Our son wasn’t sleeping in his own room yet so I wasn’t concerned when the picture would occasionally freeze but over the last month it’s just gotten worse. The camera won’t connect and if it does, the audio only sporadically works and the video freezes constantly. We have top end wifi and a great router as we use several streaming and gaming devices (which all work perfectly). We even tried a wifi extender that is 20 ft from our sons room in our one story house and the camera will just not get a good signal. Very disappointed as we love the owlet sock and we were really hoping this camera would work out.
