I returned my owlet because i had to many false red alarms causing me more anxiety. Also returned because my son has gerd where he chokes on his spit up at night and the owlet stops working when baby moves so if he was actually in distress and choking he would kick his legs initially making the owlet inactive which defeated the purpose i bought it for.
Cons: Doesnt work if baby moves, False red alarm
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We use the Owlet sock for naps and overnight sleeping to ensure our baby is breathing appropriately so we can worry less. We still check on him as it's just instinct to do so and you are always the best judge of your child's situation. However, it provides a tremendous peace of mind! We feel this was the smartest purchase we have ever made. The instruction manual is invaluable for understanding how to use the sock and decipher the alarms. As a woman who works in IT managing software testing, it is obvious how extensive and thoroughly tested this product is. I am highly impressed. One of the drawbacks is the short distance between the base and the sock. If our baby falls asleep in our family room, it's too far away to use the sock without moving and possibly waking him. Also, while the sock obtains the initial reading it pulsates green and then goes to a slow green once obtained. We find ourselves staring at it waiting for it to change, because having the same color green perform two different functions is not ideal.
Pros: Different alarm sounds help reduce panic, Easy to use, Lullaby alarm sound is pleasant and appropriate, Peace of mind, Reliable, excellent customer service
Cons: Distance between sock and base too short, Pulsing to slow green hard to decipher

Gives me peace of mind

I use this product every night. My child was born 9 weeks prematurely and shortly after being released from the NICU was re-admitted to the hospital with RSV. These things alone turned me into a more anxious first time Mother. Then add in the fact that I am a physician with an exaggerated fear of SIDS and I quickly understood that I was destined to have absolutely no sleep. I felt like I constantly had to observe my daughter for apneic episodes. My colleagues told me not to get the Owlet or similar devices as studies have shown they do not prevent SIDS; however, I finally broke down and got this product in the hope it would allow me to feel comfortable getting some sleep. After figuring out the kinks of proper placement and such, I no longer experience false alarms. This product has done what I hoped it would. I still wake up intermittently, but simply check the app for a few seconds and feel peace of mind to fall back asleep. My sense of normalcy has returned thanks to increased sleep. Essentially this product is irreplaceable for me. Upset I didn't buy it sooner!

Love our owlet!

We have used this product every night since my son has been home from the hospital. He was born at 28 weeks and 2 days and when I went into pre term labor, buying the owlet was a no Brainer. It's easy to use and gives us peace of mind while my son is sleeping. The only problems is that the newborn sock had to be put on pretty tightly to get an accurate reading otherwise we got a lot of false alarms. The other issue is that the base disconnects from the app a lot. This isn't a huge deal because the sock is still communicating with the base and it will sound if there is a problem, but it's annoying if you wake in the middle of the night and want to check the numbers on your phone and you can't see them. But overall wrote love the owlet it is so worth the money! Trust me, buy it!
Pros: Easy to use, Peace of mind for a restful night sleep
Cons: Base disconnects from app a lot, Newborn sock gave a lot of false alarms

With having a child in the NICU and Down syndrome this product was a must!!! The fact that when he is sleeping I can watch his stats change and know he is okay. We have had a few red alerts and with out that alert who knows what would have happened. I do swear this product has saved our sons life. As annoying as it is to get woken up the alert of his sock falling off I would rather know then not. We have found the best way to prevent this is making sure he wears foot pjs. I do however wish there was a larger range from the sock to base station. I would rather have the base station in my bed room then his. When he slept in our room the first 4 months I could just look at he base station see the green light and sleep more sound. But now that he is in his room to have a peace of mind I have to pull up the app (even tho j know it would alert me if something was wrong). This only happens once a night if that ;). I do also wish I could get reading when I am away from the house. When my mom babysits I would like to be able to pull up the app and see the readings myself. But in saying all this I tell everyone I know about this product!! I could not live with out it!!
Pros: Base station has 2 light settings, Comes with 3 sock sizes, Easy to use, Has different alert sounds
Cons: Wish I could see reading when not at home, Wish it could be further away from base station

Initially, I was seriously skeptical about buying this due to the price. However, I'm REALLY liking this Owlet Smart Sock! Using it and the baby monitor, I'm able to put my son in his nursery to sleep, and get things done around the house without having to stop and check to make sure he's still breathing every 10 minutes (I checked every 20 though, lol)!! I think it will definitely come in handy as he gets older and I put him in his crib more often. I had a few issues with the setup due to Owlet having compatibility problems with iOS. That was handled with a call to customer service. The only thing I would change is that you have to continuously have the app open in order to monitor using your phone. It would be nice to be able to minimize the app and still be able monitor via the status bar on your phone. Also, an in app alert would be good, instead of just being alerted via the base. Those are just a couple of things I'd like to see but overall, the product has worked great and I would definitely recommend it for first time parents!

Anxiety relief

I really wanted the owlet, but couldn't justify the price. Someone gave me another product that attaches to the diaper and I thought that would suffice. My son ended up being a stomach sleeper, so I couldn't use it and my anxiety about him sleeping kept getting worse and worse. I wasn't sleeping; just watching him breathe. Finally, I decided to just buy the owlet. It helped so much! Knowing that the alarm will sound if he ever has issues has helped me be able to finally get some sleep. The only issue that I have is that the range from the sock to base unit isn't very far, so I have to move the base if I want to use it in different rooms. Not a huge deal though for some sanity!
Pros: Accurate, Easy to use, Stress reliever
Cons: Have to make sure you're using correct sock size, Short range
