I received this as a gift and have found it very useful thus far. The little one has been sick with a cold recently and his breathing has had me worried here and there. He also rolls quite a bit in his sleep which makes me nervous. The monitor definitely gives me piece of mind. However, the monitor slips off his foot easily unless secured with a sock or footie jammies.

We bought the Owlet monitor when we brought our 12 week premature newborn baby home from the NICU. We had spent 66 days in the NICU watching his heart rate and pulse ox levels on a monitor. And although he doesn't need to be on a monitor now that he's home, we feel much more comfortable having him on the monitor, especially overnight when we are sleeping, too. The Owlet gives us peace of mind knowing that if our baby's heart rate or oxygen levels drop (or increase) outside of the range, the Owlet will alarm. Our now 14 week old son has been wearing the monitor every night now for 6 weeks, and the alarm has only red alerted one time. I almost had a heart attack ;) but I think it may have been a false alarm as he woke up briefly and immediately fell back to sleep with his heart rate and oxygen levels reading in the normal range. Regardless, I will gladly take a handful of potentially false alarms knowing that if it ever is the real deal, it would alert me to hopefully be able to do something to help my baby! Bottom line, I would recommend the Owlet to any person who is bringing home an infant from the NICU or even just a parent/caregiver who is remotely concerned with their baby's health. For us, this devie is worth its weight in gold!

The Smart Sock has really given me a piece of mind when I lay my daughter down to sleep. It allows me to check on her without having to get close to her or touch her. I really enjoy the app that goes along with the sock. I like knowing how much of her sleep is deep sleep and light sleep. I know when I transition my daughter to her own room I will be able to worry a little less at night. One thing I wish I could change was the ability to turn the sock off when not in use. I have not figured out how to do this. I would like to turn it off to preserve the battery. I can turn the base station off but not the actual sock. Overall, I am happy with this product.

Our fifth baby was diagnosed with a mild form of Laryngomalacia (basically a floppy wind pipe). Our pediatrician is following it and he will most likely outgrow it eventually, but in the meantime it is absolutely wonderful to know his oxygen level is being monitored at night and I can SLEEP! What an absolute gift!

I have twins who were born at 24 weeks gestation. For 5 months I sat at their bedside in the NICU staring at monitors and obsessed with their heart rate and oxygen saturation. When the day came to FINALLY bring my babies home, I was thrilled and so excited! But what would I do without knowing their vitals?? With all of the excitement about going home, it also brought fear. One of my daughters has severe chronic lung disease, and we were bringing her home on oxygen. I often laid awake at night watching her take every breath. We kept her in a bassinet beside our bed for as long as we possibly could. Just recently we decided to move her to her crib in her room, as she had outgrown the bassinet. But what if she pulls her prongs out through the night?? She likes to pull at her prongs, and rubs her nose and eyes when she's tired. Imagine my excitement when I stumbled across an ad for the Owlet. I ordered it without hesitation. I could now comfortably lay my baby down in her own crib at night. Two nights ago, the Owlet saved us! The alarm started going off because my daughters prongs were out and her vitals were slowly drifting. I hate to think what would have happened if we didn't put that sock on our baby's foot that night. I can't say enough amazing things about the Owlet. I'm forever grateful for this product.

Not what I expected

I bought this about a week after my daughter was born. I bought it mostly because she was so calm and quiet and different from my first that I thought something must be wrong. I wasn't sleeping well at night because I was constantly checking on her. The sock allowed me to sleep between alerts but because I slept with her in the side sleeper in the room when the alarms went off (mostly because the sock moved on her foot or it lost wifi connection the alarm would wake her up) I used it probably for only 2 weeks.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
