Of all the baby gear and equipment and I bought, this is hands down the best investment I ever made. It gives me piece of my mind at night so I can sleep better. I wish the volume on the base station could be altered but there's no doubt it will wake me up to alert me. I also found my breast pump interferes with the signal so I get a blue alert if I don't turn off the base station first. I would recommend it over and over again. It's worth the investment to have the added piece of my me my baby is sleeping safe and sound.
Pros: Easy to use, Piece of mind, Reliable
Cons: Base station volume, Blue alerts often

I use the sock at night on my newborn who was a preemie so my anxiety was really high when he first came home. The distance between sock and home base needs to be extended so you can walk around your house if needed and stay connected. I would add a temperature feature to track baby's temp while wearing the sock if possible. For parents of newborns or preemies that would be an added bonus to avoid having to undress baby to check temp. Sock design needs to be updated so it stays in place better with a whole bottom instead of the strap in back. For a preemie it is still too big and a sock has to be wore over the monitor to keep it in place.

Our baby has´t been born yet so Im commenting only the setup. Once we got the device to Europe the setup has been extremely easy. In Europe you naturally need the power adapter but thats not a problem at all since those are available basically everywhere. Sync between the product/device(s), iPhone 6s and wifi was flawless.

The owlet monitor and base never worked the way they were supposed to. My son has slept through the night since he was a week old (my first didn't STTN until he was 4 years old so this wasn't something I expected). The fact that he sleeps so deeply has always been a major concern so my boyfriend and I get up and check on him constantly. When we read about the Owlet we HAD to get it since it pretty much guarantees peace of mind. Unfortunately the first night we used it we got 6 yellow alarms in a 3 hour span. It's been the same thing every night since. We even lowered to sensitivity and the alarms don't stop. We ended up turning it off and going back to carefully checking on our son throughout the night (for free!).
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We pre ordered the owlet when it first became available for pre order on Aug 26th 2013 at 11 am, 8 minutes after our son was born. We received it in the summer of 2015, days before our daughter was born. We put it on her every night and it gives us great piece of mind. After having a surprise third pregnancy that wound up with a c-section and a premature underweight beautiful daughter, we decided that we needed to order this monitor. Both my husband and I work in the medical field and we were both concerned about our third child and the possibility that she might not be strong enough and fully developed due to her small size and age. We wanted the comfort in knowing that her vital signs were stable all night and we would be alerted quickly if she stopped breathing. With the owlet, we both rest peacefully knowing that the monitor on her foot will alert us if something happens to her while she's in her bassinet. Thankfully the owlet has not sent any loud alarms, but it has allowed for better night sleeps for my husband and me.
