Bit of a disappointment

Bought the TV a month ago. Always get the “smart hub is downloading” message. Have tried every fix I could find on the internet to no avail. So the apps feature is absolutely worthless and I didn’t want to have to plug in another peripheral to watch apps. But looks like fire stick it is. Huge disappointment. Samsung, fix your broken software!

Thank you for reaching out and letting us know about the issues you are having with the Samsung Smart Hub. You mentioned trying some troubleshooting steps; I will put a few below, just in case you haven't tried them yet.
First, please try resetting your TV's Smart Hub. Go to Settings > Support > Device Care > Self Diagnosis > Reset Smart Hub.
Next, let's make sure your TV is running the latest firmware version. Go to: Settings > Support > Software Update.

Bigger and better new TV

Bought this 55" to replace a smaller 43" Samsung that we had no trouble with. Love the bigger screen and similar remote. Had no problems setting it up. So far the only thing missing that I found helpful was a signal strength meter when using an outside antenna, something we still use in our area. We pickup multiple signals from different transmitters for the same over the air stations and the signal strength meter helps to determine which is the strongest one to use.
I would recommend this to a friend!

After 1 year and 2 months, tv intermittently connects to the internet.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Thank you for sharing your experience with Internet connectivity. If you’re experiencing issues with the Wi-Fi connection, we suggest you try the following:
1. Use 5Ghz Wi-Fi if possible 2. Try wired LAN if available 3. Try repositioning the router so there are no obstacles between your TV and the router
Please also be sure you are running the latest firmware. You can check to see what software version your TV is using and if there is an available update through the settings on your TV. Go to: Settings > Support > Software Update.
You may want to enable automatic updates for convenience. Go to Settings > Support > Software Update, then select Auto Update.

White color bleed in black background of screen.

I bought this tv on the last day of January and arrived last week. I noticed after turning on the tv a white screen bleed while on with a black screen only. What causes this issue? I’m going to have to return it because regardless of a price point any new tv shouldn’t come to the consumer in this condition. I do love Samsung products but unfortunately I got a tv that might not gone through quality control.

First, you can change the Sound Mode by going to Settings > Sound > Sound Mode.
Next, you can customize the sound with Expert Settings by going to Settings > Sound > Expert Settings.

I’ve had the tv for about 3 weeks now. Set up was super simple. The menu is easy to navigate and arrange to your liking. Great picture so long as what you’re watching isn’t dark. And that’s where this tv loses 2 stars. Dark movies are hard to watch even in a dark room. Which kind of takes a lot away from the enjoyment of the tv.
I would recommend this to a friend!

We are happy that you are enjoying your Samsung AU8000 TV. Please know that we are here to help and have a few suggestions that may improve the picture you see when watching dark movies.
First, I recommend using Dynamic Picture Mode, which makes pictures brighter and clearer in bright viewing environments. Go to Settings > Picture > Picture Mode > Dynamic.
Or you can manually adjust the Brightness, Contrast, and more. Press the HOME button on your remote, then navigate to Settings > Picture > Expert Settings.
You may also want to disable Power Saving Mode, which automatically adjusts the brightness to reduce the TV’s power consumption. Go to: Settings > General > Eco Solution> Power Saving Mode
Ambient Light Detection will also automatically adjust the brightness level of the TV according to the ambient light level to reduce power consumption. If Ambient Light Detection has adjusted the screen brightness to a too-bright or dark level, you can select Minimum Brightness to manually adjust the minimum screen brightness. Go to: Settings > General > Eco Solution > Ambient Light Detection.
Please also be sure you are running the latest firmware. You can check to see what software version your TV is using and if there is an available update through the settings on your TV: Settings > Support > Software Update.
