This is the 1st Samsung TV that I have purchased and it will be the last! Your remote sucks - is has no keypad for typing in numbers for TV channels. I don’t appreciate having to fumble around on screen to find what I’m looking for. I have owned Visio TV’s for the past 5-10 years and have never had any issues plus their remotes are great. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS SAMSUNG TV!!!!!!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hi there,

We appreciate your feedback on the Samsung AU8000 TV remote control. Please know that the Samsung TV can be programmed to work with other remotes if you prefer. We also have the SmartThings App, which you can download on your phone, which enables you to use your phone as a remote.

To learn the various features, functions, and settings of the TV and Remote, you can download the User Manual and Remote Guide directly from Samsung’s website under ‘Support’ (top right corner) > Manuals & Software > TVs & Home Theater. From there, you can select the AU8000 under Crystal UHD TVs > A Model Lineup.

I hope this helps. If there’s anything we can ever help with, please call us at 1-800-SAMSUNG, 8 AM - 12 AM EST, seven days a week. Or visit us on the Samsung website and click on the ‘Support’ link for:

The picture is great but since I’ve bought this tv the sound will not match the picture and I’ve tried to adjust settings but no luck. Not happy with it at all

Hi Adam,

Thank you for purchasing the Samsung AU8000 TV. You may want to try the Audio Pass-Through feature to address the audio delay. This feature allows the audio signal to be sent out unprocessed to an external Soundbar or receiver connected to the TV. The external Soundbar or receiver then processes the audio, thereby eliminating the added step of processing by the TV, which adds delay.

To activate this feature, go to Settings > Sound > Expert Settings > Digital Output Audio Format > set to Pass-Through.

If you have tried this and your issue persists, please reach out to Samsung Customer Support so that we can provide further troubleshooting. You can call us at 1-800-SAMSUNG, 8 AM - 12 AM EST, seven days a week. Or visit us on the Samsung website and click on the ‘Support’ link for:

Hi Woodstock,

I'm sorry to hear your Samsung AU8000 TV screen is no longer functioning correctly. Please know we are here to help and have a few troubleshooting steps for you to try.

1. Press the Home button on the remote.

If the menu appears, the TV is powered on but is either not on the correct source or not receiving a signal. If the menu does not appear, the TV may be having power issues.

Check the red standby light, a little red light at the edge of the TV that you aim the remote at. In normal use, the red standby light is on when the TV is off (indicating the TV is on standby), and the red standby light is off when the TV is in use (or doesn't have power).

2. Confirm the TV is set to the same source as the external device.

For instance, if your cable box is connected to HDMI 1, set the TV source to HDMI 1.

If the TV is set to the correct source, but there is still no image, unplug and reconnect the AV connections one cable at a time from both ends of each cable. If there's any damage to the cable, it will need to be replaced.
After you've reconnected the external device, turn it off and then back on.

3. Test the HDMI cable.

Some TVs have an HDMI cable test. Some models only have this test after a software update, and older models do not have it. If your model does not have this test or is not connected by HDMI, skip to the next step.

The test is designed for HDMI cords less than 6 feet long and may not give accurate results on longer cords.

To perform the test, make sure the TV's source is still on the HDMI setting for the cable you want to test, and then navigate to Settings > Support > Self Diagnosis > Signal Information > HDMI Cable Test > Start Test.

If the test says the cable is bad, replace the cable. Service is not required.

4. Test different external devices.

The final thing to rule out is the external device you're using. Try connecting a different device or using a different source port.

If the TV can display a picture in any other setup, then you've ruled the TV out as the cause of the issue. Keep trying various setups until you identify the device or cable that is not working and troubleshoot or replace it.

I hope this tip helps improve your enjoyment. For more help, please call us at 1-800-SAMSUNG, 8 AM - 12 AM EST, 7 days a week. LiveChat with an agent, as well as manuals, software, and warranty info, can be found at the ‘Support’ link on our Samsung website.

Like TV For the Most Part

I love the picture and the color. However, this tv turns off by itself occasionally. What is that all about? Also, the volume measure really doesn’t match the numeric level. A 55 sounds like a 40.

Hi Orca,

I'm happy that you are enjoying your Samsung AU8000 TV. Thank you for reaching out and letting us know about the things you are having difficulty with, such as the TV turning itself off and low volume.

I have a few troubleshooting steps for you to try, which may resolve these issues.

If your TV appears to turn off by itself, try disabling some of its energy efficiency functions.

First, see if the Sleep Timer has been enabled. The Sleep Timer automatically turns the TV off after a specific period of time. Go to Settings > General > System Manager > Time > Sleep Timer.

If the Sleep Timer has not been enabled, see if Auto Power Off or Off Timer has been enabled and disable it.

Regarding low volume, there are several volume features you can adjust, which may improve your audio experience.

1) Auto Volume automatically adjusts the sound to a certain level when changing channels or switching to another external input. Go to Settings > Sound > Expert Settings > Auto Volume.

2) Adaptive Sound automatically adjusts to a specific volume level while watching TV. The TV analyzes your volume usage history by time period to automatically adjust the volume when you use an app or switch to an external input source. Go to Settings> Sound> Sound Mode> Adaptive Sound.

3) Several Sound Modes are likewise available to meet your personal preferences: Home > Settings > Sound > Sound Mode

Also, some sources have their own volume control, which might need to be set higher. Please check the volume control of the external device (cable box or satellite box, DVD, Blu-ray, etc.) connected to your TV. Also, check the cable connection between an external device and the TV and then try the cable connection again.

If you need more help, Samsung is here for you. Please call us at 1-800-SAMSUNG, 8 AM - 12 AM EST, seven days a week. Our LiveChat agents are also available by clicking on the ‘Support’ link on our website.

I got it this TV for my bunk room at the fire station. Even though we have crappy internet, the TV works great streaming. The color and sound are excellent. Picture is crisp. Guys with cheep TV’s in their rooms are envious.
