Nice but not perfect

overall the picture is pretty good, and the smart set up was wonky but worked. i don't much care for the loading of apps and the constant rearranging every time you load one. but mostly i hate the fact that to set the tv on a timer for sleep, it requires way too many button pushes to get what should be a one or two button set up. use that feature every night and hate the tv every time i have to go deep into a set up menu for a one time use.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Continous tapping noise

the tv makes a continuous tapping sound like a clock ticking. it varies in frequency from slow to fast and then back. i changed power cords, surge protectors, different outlets on different circuits and even changed rooms. i maded sure that anything else that might cause elextrical interference was either unplugged or not running (refrigerator, boiler). i unplugged all other cables from other devices that were plugged in. i left the tv unplugged all night. i made sure that tv was level front to back and side to side.
nothing eliminated the continuous tapping noise. chatted with samsung serivce and they didn’t have a solution.
very narrow viewing angle but ok for the room that it is being used in.
easy to set up.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Thank you for purchasing the Samsung AU8000 Crystal UHD TV and for sharing your review. The feedback you have provided regarding a noise from your TV when powered off is important to us and will be shared with our product teams.

Please know, Samsung TVs use a combination of metal and plastic material. These materials are subject to expansion and contraction due to temperature changes. Occasional creaking, popping, or cracking may be heard. Additionally, certain components within the TV may cause these temporary noises once powered off. This does not indicate a product malfunction. The TV is safe to use.

With this in mind, here are a few quick tips on how to reduce the expansion that can cause these noises.

1) Ensure that there is adequate ventilation. Some enclosures may not allow for proper ventilation. This causes the internal temperature to increase and the plastic to expand even more than normal. For recommended ventilation requirements, please see your user manual.
2) Make sure there aren't any heating or air conditioning vents pointing directly at the TV.
3) Verify that the TV is on a flat and level surface. Tilting or an uneven stand can increase these noises.

Beautiful TV

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a beautiful tv! Very nice size, an upgrade from our 55" TCL Roku tv. We almost purchased the 65" in TCL Roku tv due to the price, since we were already using a TCL TV. We are very pleased with our new Samsung TV, it has so much to offer. Unboxing and setup was not too painful other than the fact that it is a very big tv, so more than one person us needed to handle it. Setup was pretty simple and it walks you through everything. The color is vivid and just pops out at you, beautiful quality. We have played video games, YouTube videos, and streamed on the tv so far. It has so many tv apps that you can intergrate, and that works well for use since we have a few. You can use the controller or download an app on your phone to control the tv. You can also control with Amazon Alexa or Google. So far the only downfall of this tv is the sound, it doesn't get too loud and it's hard to hear sometimes. We will eventually purchase surround sound to make up for that. Other than that, we love the tv and we would recommend it

the tv itself is great, but i had insignia radio frequency headphones that wouldn’t work with the tv and was disappointed. do you know if any earphones work with it? like to watch while wife reads. thanks

Great Picture, Smart Apps Subpar

great tv, awesome colors, awesome picture. do not plan on using the smart apps that come with the tv. very slow, clunky and frustrating at times. a lot of buffering before it finally starts to play the program. get a roku 4k stick and then you will be very pleased here.
