Good TV for the right price

i purchased this tv three weeks ago and have loved every minute that i've owned it. my previous tv which i hadn't even owned for an entire year (and was a different brand) only worked right for the first couple of weeks that i owned it. it was so bad i could no longer watch anything on it, that's when i decided to do research and find a better tv of a different brand.
i was originally going to get the 7000 series but then saw the 8000 in the store and that it was only slightly higher in price. i learned my lesson from the previous one, you get what you pay for.
i have been more than satisfied with the au8000, it has done everything i wanted in a tv. i would definitely recommend samsung and would buy again.
I would recommend this to a friend!

picture is amazing, it is a great tv! i have no technical experience, but i can tell you that it was easy for me to get everything hooked up and working, definitely recommend! the price is great too!

Nice TV but...

this tv probably could have had a 5 star rating except for one annoying feature, and that is that the default start up screen is samsung tv without any way of changing it to a preferred app. when i turn on my tv, i would like it to start in the app that i watch most often.

Thank you for purchasing the AU8000 Crystal UHD TV and for your review. Please know that you can choose what your TV does when you turn it on by going to Settings > General > Smart Features
1) When you set Autorun Smart Hub to on, the TV displays the Home Screen automatically when you turn the TV on. 2) If Autorun Last App is set to on, the last used app is automatically run when you turn on the TV. Please know that the Last App Used function may not work with all apps and requires Autorun Smart Hub to be enabled as well.

The picture and color GOOD Sound TERRIBLE

picture and color are awesome. the sound is terrible. no… it’s not my cable service, i had it checked. the set-up instructions leaves to much to your imagination. the owner manual is on-line which makes it even harder to use. talking to a support person is next to impossible. just prior to packing it up and taking it back to the store, i finally discovered another setting for sound with choices of normal - loud - amplify. the amplify setting made it better… but the sound is not anywhere near as good as the picture. no… i don’t want to buy a sound bar.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Lacking in some areas

it's a nice enough tv, however, the fact that it only has 3 usb ports is a little disappointing. also, it doesn't have video/audio hook ups for gaming systems such as wii. this means you have to pay more money to get a converter for those.
by far the biggest disappointment is that there is no way to download and use the hallmark tv app. even though this is something that i pay for, i cannot use it on this tv. that's extremely disappointing and i would not have purchased this brand had i known that going in. unfortunately, now i have to spend more money to get a firestick to use on my 'smart tv', because it's not smart enough to let me use apps that other tvs do.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Sound sync challnges

while video quality is what i/we expected, we have had significant challnges trying to get the sound to properly sync with the video. have gone though all the intial checks (firmware is most current, tested multiple inputs [all the same], even purchased a samsung soundbar [hw-450] hoping to get a reasonable sync.
have tried bluetooth and opitical (bluetooty worse) connections between tv and soundbar, have tried all different combinations of sound settings … “standard” with 80-90 ms sound delay best … but still inconsistent results … and poor for news / intervew as lips not well synced with sound.
very frustratung … will be contacting samsung for advice/troubleshooting.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Thank you for purchasing the Samsung AU8000 Crystal UHD TV. We appreciate your feedback regarding the sound delays you are experiencing.
It could possibly be a source issue, but if you are hearing an audio delay across all sources/channels and you have a Soundbar connected to your TV, you can access the Audio Delay settings to increase the audio delay. Go to: Settings > Sound > Expert Settings > Digital Output Audio Delay
Please know that our 2021 TVs do have an audio Pass-Through feature. This feature allows the audio signal to be sent out unprocessed to an external Soundbar or receiver connected to the TV. The external Soundbar or receiver then processes the audio, thereby eliminating the added step of processing by the TV, which adds delay.
On your TV go to: Settings > Sound > Expert Settings > Digital Audio Output Format > Pass-Through

Nice picture but unreliable.

the picture looks great, but the smart features are unreliable. despite thorough troubleshooting, the tv cannot reliably connect to smart features and the remote needs to be re-paired to the television repeatedly.

Thank you for choosing Samsung’s AU8000 TV and for sharing the issues you are experiencing with Smart features. Please be sure your firmware is up to date with version 1805.4 which includes various performance and stability updates. You can check this by going to: Settings > Support > Software Update.
If you press any key on the remote, and the LED indicator at the top of your remote stays on for about 3 seconds rather than blinking, please try the following steps to reset your remote: 1) Long press the RETURN key and ENTER key together for about 10 seconds if your remote was once paired already with the TV, you do not need to re-pair it again. However, if it was not paired with the TV, pairing must be done after the reset. 2) The RETURN key is on the left side of your remote and looks like a curved, backwards pointing arrow. 3) The ENTER key is the button in the center of your directional ring.
