Reasonable tech for money. Don’t buy if you have poor internet speeds. It pairs better with gig. Has pretty good coverage for a 3000sq.ft. Home.

My previous router setup did not allow me to get my 1Gbs service that I was paying for from my ISP even though it was two Tp-Link Archer AC5400s paired as router and node. The ASUS ZenWiFi AX (XT8) gave me my full 1Gbs service immediately after the 15 min setup with no other changes to equipment or settings.

I have had an ASUS RT-AC86U for several years and it was great, but parts of my home were either getting a weak signal or no signal at all. This new ZenWiFi AX (XT8) is perfect! My coverage is now all over my home as well as my backyard and front yard. My 2.4g is 5x faster and my 5g is blazing fast. I am using a wired backhaul and love that these units have four ports (1 WAN and 3 LAN) each. There are currently 32 devices connected with about a 60/40 split of wired and wireless. This router has solved my problems hopefully for years to come!

Better know how to reset your sub-net addresses

Ok I ordered these to replace my slower Lynksys mesh system. They look great and the extra hard connection LAN ports has let me eliminate some LAN hubs. The connections are fast and that is great, after the fix. The problem is for some reason ASUS decided to make the default web subnet XXX.XXX.50.1 instead of the usual default of XXX.XXX.1.1 for the router. Well this subnet requires to find all the hard addressed Printers, Network Cloud Drives and any other device. Why hard addresses? Well, they work better with the several systems in your network that turn on and off. Set them once and you are done. So when I called their help line to figure out how to reset the subnet the operator knew nothing and just wasted 25 minutes of long distance time to tell me to upload the latest bios and call them back to get me off the line with a chuckle when I told them that was not it. So I had to disconnect all my system's devices, hook up directly to them to reset the subnet. Their help had no idea what was wrong and did not understand what a subnet was. After that I am happy with the product.
