Initially everything was great. That lasted about a week until my remote unit started to drop offline for no apparent reason. I did some research on the web and noticed that this issue had been going on since 2020 and there were a lot of unhappy people. I did not want to experience the frustration with support and returned my purchase immediately. Although this was great while it was working I was not impressed with the final results. When the remote unit disconnected, the router was useless to me.

I've been using this Mesh system now for a couple of weeks and so far so good. It was not too hard to setup however I do agree with other reviewers that it is lacking good instruction especially in the area of fine tuning it and using the security features that come with the XT8. Now the good stuff. The coverage for my home has improved greatly over my previous Router with no more dead spots throughout the house and well into both the front and back yards. So far the speed has also been very good using the wireless Backhaul set up. I recently had fiber installed with a 600Mbps plan and on my smart phone, depending on time of day and where in the house I am, I'm consistantly getting between 400 Mbps and 560 Mbps down and 260 to 400+ Mbps up. Other devices will vary but overall the speed has been impressive. I did decide to do a clean install by creating a new network name and password and of course this meant having to hook all clients up to this. Definetly would have been easier keeping the same network name and password as the previous router but I'd been using it for a few years so for security reasons changed it. One nice plus is I just set up the one network not a seperate 2.4G and 5G network and let the Asus XT8 decide which band to use for each client. So far no issues especially with a couple of my older 2.4G only clients finding the correct band to use. Lots of options still to explore and longevity to test so I give this setup a solid 4.5 rating and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others.

Easy set-up and there are a lot of helpful articles to reference and educated you with the system. I'm still not 100% sure if I have the system set-up in the best manner. It would be nice if they had call in support. Email and chat communication are fine but speaking to a live person is still desirable.
I would buy this system again. I like that it can expand and keep up with the next technology jump and that security is include (not an extra charge).

Just buy it and thank me later. It has improved our internet coverage and improved our speed as well. It handled a power outage like a champ and seems to handle the usual network traffic without an issue.

We have a normal size house but rooms divided by many walls, my wife kept complaining about her Kindle not hooking up in the back of the house. I have had access points but most were iffy at best. I found this system and did thorough research on it. Most reviews are of a positive nature with very few negative. I decided to give it a try, I am glad I did. I recently boosted my cable internet speed and then hooked this system up, very easy by the way. This system fills my house, all my nooks and cranny's, with strong WiFi signals. When a device is hooked up to the main router and we walk to the back of the house, the node in back picks up the device and handles the WiFi seamlessly. Asus, I am very impressed. Thank you for this product.

One of the two nodes was DOA, unable to connect and unrecoverable. Tech Support offered a return for repair which is a no for brand new gear. Having lost confidence in a new device we rely on for work, I chose to return the defective system and buy a different vendor. Too bad, I wanted it to work.
