Impressive performance and easy to use

After this summer’s drought in the Midwest, my lawn was looking pretty bad. After watching several YouTube videos of others promoting the benefits of dethatching I decided to give it a try. Just finished on our two year old lawn (sod on poor quality builders soil) and I couldn’t believe how much brown dead grass came up. In most places it didn’t get all the way down to black dirt, but it did get down to the sod base peat or whatever it came on. The lawn already looks greener, just from removing the brown grasses. It didn’t take much green grass at all, which surprised me. The toughest part was minding the extension cord, which was manageable with the help of my Wife keeping the cord out of the way, and then picking up the piles of dead grass. As many have mentioned, use your mower with a bagger! Went over the lawn a couple of times to remove dead grass and then watered. Looks better already and and I have aeration set up in a few days and will overseed. I can see the grass seed and water can now get down in the lawn where it can germinate. Great value for the price, but if you can afford it - the battery powered version would be much faster.

I I used to dethatch my yard by hand when I was younger. It was beautiful after I was done. I've gotten older now and I can't do it so I decided to buy your Greenworks 14-inch dethatcher. I was a bit skeptical when it arrived but I used it and oh my gosh it's probably the best yard tool I've ever owned!

I planned to overseed my lawn this Labor Day. And first thing most people say is dethatch your lawn and core aeration. This dethatcher did not disappoint. Filled 20 bags with the dead grass.

I just used it on my ancient lawn and with two passes it removed two and half lawn bags full of thatch from about 500 square feet of lawn without any harm to the lawn. The results make me want to keep doing it, but that would be dumb.
