Bought mine over 3 years ago and it still works as it did when I bought it. Living in Florida I have mowed my lawn on Christmas day so you can understand how often it needs dethatched.

Envy of the Neighborhood

This is my third year of using this dethacher and I was stopped by 5 different people today asking about it and where to get one. I told them to go online and check it out but disappointed to see that the plug in model isn’t available anywhere. Hopefully you’re not discontinuing the plug in model as the rechargeable one is more expensive and not convienient if this is the only Greenworks product you own. I recommend the plug in model as a great buy!

Met my Expectations and Sped Up the Process

I bought this after buying a new home whose lawn had been neglected for a long time. With almost a 1/2 acre, using a thatch rake wasn't a palatable option, and buying an electric unit that could be used year after year seemed more economical than renting a commercial gas unit. If you understand this product's limitations then you'll be very happy with your purchase. It might take multiple passes to get all the thatch out, and you'll need to make sure you have the appropriate extension cords so that the unit isn't under-powered or overheating. That said, it sped up the job significantly for me, and I'm very happy with the results. I would gladly upgrade to a cordless version, though, if one were ever made available.

This dethatcher works great, but be prepared to clean up your mess. I also found I needed to go some areas more than once to get it right.
