Excited to try this IPL Device

I recently received the Gillette Venus Silk Expert powered by Braun and I was very excited to try it. I've been wanting to try one of these hair removal systems for a long time as I've heard great things about them from friends and family. When I opened the package, it looked very attractive and high quality. I was happy that it also came with a bonus of a facial brush. The device itself is easy to hold and has a little weight to it but it's super comfortable to handle and easy to use. I found the assembly very simple and the use instructions were clear and straightforward. It is recommended that you start with a test patch area so I tried a patch on my arm. After cleansing the area and then shaving it and patting it dry, I activated the device and placed it on my skin. I waited for the lights to appear that lets you know that it is ready and then pushed the button. There is a quick bright pulse of light and a snapping noise and then it is done. I could smell a slight burning smell of a little bit of hair that I missed when shaving but it wasn't too strong or bad. I felt a minimal amount of heat and that was it. No pain or discomfort and far less than when I get waxed which is awesome in my book. I like the fact that the device has a built in skin tone analyzer to prevent any misuse. My only complaint is that there is no on/off switch and you have to unplug the device in order to turn it off. I am super excited to see the results in the weeks to come.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] At first, I was a bit apprehensive about using this product as I wasn't sure if it was safe. So I decided to try on my legs. I read through all the instructions and it seems easy enough. It does a take awhile to get used it using it and I'm pretty sensitive to pain. Although it does have a slight sting, its nothing I can't handle. No pain no gain right?! Overall, the experience has been pleasant enough and it seems to be working as some of the hairs on my legs have not come back. But like the instruction manual says, it will take a few cycles and weeks of use before all hair disappears. Would be amazing if I don't have to shave anymore!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recieved the Gillette Venus Silk Expert from Braun. At first, I was very skeptical. I tried it out and was surprised how easy it is to use. It really is very simple. There is no pain or irritation. After a couple weeks, I am starting to notice less hair on my legs. It is not as thick as it use to be. I am truly glad I got the opportunity to try it out because it is going to save me so much time plus no more cuts. My legs also feel softer because of less irritation from my regular razor! I would definitely recommend this product!

Easy to Use and Pain Free!

First off, I have to say it's exciting just to open this product. The packaging makes it feel like you are getting a super futuristic high-tech gadget, which after you use it, you'll surely believe. The directions are easy to follow and outline any issues that might be of concern. Honestly, I was very nervous to use this product and I wasn't sure what to expect. It took me a good minute or two to convince myself to push the button for the first time. That being said, I was surprised to only feel exactly what they described, a quick heating sensation. After that, I finished the targeted area(my underarm) pretty effortlessly. The device is easy to handle and maneuver around. I could see it possibly being difficult to work around ankles or other uneven skin spots but it will let you know if you aren't fully touching the skin and therefore won't let you activate the light. Since it says it can take weeks to notice results, I can't speak to the effectiveness but with how easy it is to use, I am looking forward to racking up my treatments week after week. The convenience of having a product like this available at home is amazing and I am sure will save me money in the long run. I initially hoped it would eventually stop 100% of growth in an area but it sounds like results can vary quite a bit but will never reach close to 100%. Regardless, I am interested to see if there is a noticeable difference as any less shaving is a win for me!

Painless and Easy to Use!

When I first received my Gillette Venus Silk-expert powered by Braun, I was eager to start using it right away. I'm getting married later this year and had actually been considering electrolysis at a local salon (for LOTS of money) right before I started using this product so it couldn't have come along at a better time. Unfortunately, you have to be 100% hairfree in any area you intend to treat (or else it will hurt, they aren't lying) so I had to wait until the next day when I had time to shave all areas.
The manual can seem intimidating at first but it is quiet obviously due to the fact that they want for you to be aware of everything before using the system because you can hurt yourself without proper preparation. Once I was done with reviewing this, I was excited to see that the machine powers up right away and there is very little wait time between plugging it in and it being ready to use.
The only reason why I deducted a star was because it is a painstakingly long process. It takes at least 15 minutes per leg and I'm never sure if I'm going quite slow enough but I get through each pass with the hope that after using this for the full 12 weeks, I will never have to deal with hair removal again! I also figure that each area will get enough treatment in 12 uses.
I haven't seen a difference yet but have only completed two sessions so I will update my review once I have had the opportunity to see results.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a pretty pale complexion and super dark body hair. The hair on my head is dark brown, but all of my face and body hair is black. Also, I should mention that I'm a pretty hairy gal. The Gillette Venus Silk-expert is perfect for me. I've been doing treatments every Wednesday for just over a month now. I wanted to start small and if it worked I was going to start treating my legs. I started with my underarms and well, I'm treating my legs!
With the exception of my face, I have never used any hair removal system but shaving to keep my legs, bikini line, and underarms smooth. Since my hair is dark and my skin is light the visible prickly hairs start popping up in about a day. Before I was more comfortable with my natural hair I shaved everyday. To watch the growth between treatments with the Gillette Venus Silk-expert I only shaved my underarms to clear new growth before doing the treatment. I started to notice after the second week of treatment after a couple of days that the growth was a little less than before. After the fourth treatment, a month in, the hair that grew between my weekly treatment was about four day’s growth from before starting the routine. I was hesitant and a bit skeptical before jumping into this hair removal routine, but I am very impressed with the results I am seeing. I am going to continue treating my underarms and have started with my legs.
From start to finish my underarm routine took about 5 minutes. Setting up is easy, just plug it in and it’s ready to go almost instantly. First I shaved my underarms with a standard disposable razor and shaving cream. Next I made sure my underarms were clean and dry. I used the point and click setting instead of the sweeping setting. I usually covered the underarm with 3 clicks horizontally and then a click on each side vertically.
I only experienced discomfort during the first treatment. The patch test I did on my forearm went fine. No irritation from that. But when I treated my underarms it stung quite a bit the first time. I would say it’s about the same as the discomfort from epilating. There was some mild discomfort for the rest of the day. Every treatment seems to sting less than the last, and it usually only last as long as the treatment. I am very pleased with my results and am very excited to see if it continues to slow the growth of my unwanted body hair. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm so excited to be using this product. I hate having everyday and I hate and am prone to razor burns. First thing first this product is legit. Opening the box was an "aaaaahhhhhhh"moment. I must admit I was a little intimidated. What ifI burn myself? What if I mess this up?! Well let me tell you after reading the direction over and over, I dived in. Listen, you can't mess this up, no you won't burn. Impulse lighting just sounds scary, it's not. It was really easy to use. I did go really slow and I would say on my legs and underarm it was just warm, not painful. Side note, I do have fine hair. Fairly easy to use. The product itself looks really fancy and cool. I also like that you don't have to charge it. Just plug in and start being hairless! I would've liked to try it on the bikini areas but Braun says that's a no no. I will update in my next review to see how less I have to shave. Thank you Braun for this free product for my honest review.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Got a free Gillette Venus Silk-expert Intense Pulsed Light hair removal system from Braun to try and review. The device itself is so simple there is not even an on/off switch-you just plug it in. There are exactly two buttons: one for a regular treatment and a separate button for gentle mode. If you are treating a large area like your legs you simply hold the button down for a series of pulses called "glide mode." For those not familiar with this type of system it uses bright light to keep the hair from regrowing. There is one caveat: it can only work on hair actually in the active growth phase. Sadly, every hair is in different stages of growth. Therefore, weekly treatments are needed for up to 12 weeks. Hair regrowth gets patchier and lighter until eventually it may all be gone and stay that way. Skin prep is crucial. You must shave right before using. This leaves just enough for the device to target. You can not wax or pluck during the treatment for best results. Individual results vary according to use and hair and skin type. It works best the lighter your skin and darker your hair, and best on fine hair. That said, I have very fair skin and dark hair, but it is not fine. Which brings me to the thing I like best about this device, it's automatic. It adjusts itself to your individual tones and emits the correct amount of light. You don't have to worry about choosing a setting at all. You literally plug it in, push it tight against your skin and push the button. There is a flash of light and you feel a warm sensation and a little thwack like you flicked yourself. I am a total wimp when it comes to pain which is why I can NOT wax. This does not hurt a bit. If you are nervous you can select gentle mode. There is no pulling or ripping like with waxing at all. The only areas which even gave me a twinge were very thin, bony areas like ankles. During treatment I smelled a slight smell of singed hair. This is normal. Another reason for careful skin prep though, without shaving you get burnt hair, not removal. Its about the size and shape of a man's electric razor (although it is prettier with sleek silver accents) so it is easy to hold and control. Since I am not super flexible I have my hubby do the back of my upper thighs just to make sure to get the whole area. What I recommend is during the winter months treat yourself then have smooth skin all summer with just little touch ups. Your skin will be at its lightest and you will get the best results. Also included in the box was a battery powered pore cleaning bush. My face has never looked so great. I have a glow like I just came from the spa and my face feels so clean! Honestly, it is just icing on the cake, because I would absolutely buy the IPL system alone. It is FDA cleared and rated for 120,000 flashes. I just wish I could use it on my face because those 40 something granny hairs are nasty!
