Nice hair removing tool so far!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was so excited to try the Venus Silk Expert IPL hair remover from Braun for free! I had laser treatments done on my bikini area before at a treatment facility which hurt like crazy and was so expensive, but gave me good results, so I wasn't sure what to expect from a home device. So far, so good with this one! It was a very easy set up-just plug in the power supply cord into the device and then into the wall and the power fan automatically turns on. The directions are simple too...just make sure you keep good skin contact for the sensors, which is easy to tell because there are white lights on the sides that light up when it is being used correctly. Then you just press the glide button continuously as you move the device slowly across your desired hair removal area and you're done!
The pain initially was about a 5/10, but it definitely varies with each user and I got used to it the more I used it on my legs. The device feels very hot on your skin as you're using it, like little tiny shocks, but is much easier than the laser treatment "shocks" I felt at a laser treatment facility and it made me feel like it was working now having had compared the two types of treatment. I can't wait to see the results after a full course...12 weeks (only once a week).

The only problem I had was before I even started because I hadn't realized when I signed up that you couldn't use it on newly tanned skin, which is kind of hard to do in the summer. It says to wait a week after tanning, but I'm not sure if my tanned skin will affect the results or not at this point. So I had to wait a little while before I could actually use this item. The darker your skin, the less power/joules the device will output, so it may not work as well or it may take a longer period of time to get the same results. If your skin is too dark, it won't work at all, but luckily, I was still in good range for treatment! Overall, I recommend this product so far for its ease of use.

It comes with a facial brush that's really good for exfoliating, I've been using a few times a week. The IPL has surprised me, it's really well made and easy to use. Just plug and made contact with your skin and and press the button until you hear a noise, your skin will feel a bit warm, It's not painful at all. I've been using for a little over than 4 weeks but I can't tell the difference yet. I'll definitely keep using it once a week since it's very easy and doesn't take a long time. Hopefully will have good results.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the Gillette® Venus® Silk-expert powered by Braun® beauty edition free from Braun which contained both the body hair remover and a face cleansing brush. Both products were very easy to use and work great! I've used the face cleansing brush daily since I've gotten it and my skin is noticeably more smooth and bright. For the Silk-expert hair removal, it's already worked well. I have fair skin and dark hair, which I think is an ideal combination for light energy hair removal products. I highly recommend this kit for anyone who is looking for lasting hair removal.

I am a mom of three boys and I wasn't sure if I'd have the time it takes to do it but I finally found a day to try it and the first time it took awhile but I caught on after that and was able to do both legs. I did like the easiness of it but it is very time consuming. I will continue to use it once a month like it says and I hope he results are amazing. I probably wouldn't buy a product like this only because of the time it takes to use it

The treatment schedule for Venus Silk-expert is actually once a week for 12 weeks (not once a month!) After the initial treatment phase, we recommend the device is used only as needed to maintain results. We hope you find this treatment schedule is not too time-consuming to get your desired results!

I was very nervous after reading the manual it had numerous cautions of pain, call Dr if X, Y, Z... etc. You do feel a slight sting of heat but that is all I would say is slight sting. This is day one however and have done my legs. I think the kit should contain some sunglasses or eye protection too. The flashes of light are extremely bright and it recommends to close your eyes when it is flashing. That doesn't seem right to close your eyes while doing something like this. Like I said this is day one. So, review to be continued....

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've always been interested in laser hair removal but never wanted to pay the exorbant fees for it so when I was invited to this campaign, I didn't hesitate!
The packaging is super fancy and the extra face cleansing brush was a nice surprise. I read the instruction booklet first and kind of scared myself with the warnings.
After a shower and shave I decided to do a test run before diving in and doing my legs. I tend to have sensitive skin (not so much to sun, but everything else) so I wanted to be sure. I plugged in the machine, lined it up in my underarm, and startled myself with the "Pop!" of the light. I'm not sure why I thought it would be silent.
I waited 24 hours and having no averse effects, I went to town on my legs, toes (I know I'm not the only one with big toe hair!), hands, fingers, and underarms.
My only issue with the process is when I was doing the gliding mode on my legs, it's hard to tell that you've covered all the spots because you're not supposed to look at the light. I ended up just scooting it down my legs assuming I've moved it enough for maximum coverage.
I'm very interested to see how well it works after a few weeks of use!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First, let's start with what you should know before buying the Gillette Venus Silk-Expert. This product does not work for everybody. Check the chart on the back of the box to make sure it will work with your skin color and hair color. I can use it on my bikini area and underarms, but it won't work on my legs since that hair is fine and blonde. You should also read the instructions on use. This is not a "plug n play" device. You need to prep by removing all hair first and then testing it on your skin and making sure it doesn't irritate your skin.
Ok, now we can talk about use and effectiveness. I started using it 4 weeks ago on my bikini area and 1 week ago on my underarms. It takes a few weeks to show results, remember! You have to clear the area of hair first, and I noticed in the past week or so that there is already a little less growth each time. I went to shave this morning to prep for tonight's use, and it took me only a minute or two to clean up (compared to the 5-10 minutes it usually takes). There's no change in my underarms yet since I just started last week.
Use: It hurts a little, so be prepared for that, but I think it's worth it. Shaving my bikini area ALWAYS leaves me with ingrown hairs and irritation that lasts for days. This device just causes a brief burning/stinging sensation as you use it, but I haven't noticed any lingering pain or irritation after use. It hurts less than a bikini wax, for sure! I also find it easy to use. The instructions seem a little daunting the first time you read them, but it's really as simple as pressing the device against your skin and pressing a button. You do this repeatedly until you cover the whole area you want to treat. There is also a second button for the gentle setting. Truthfully, I'm not sure it does much. Using the device on my armpits was more painful than my bikini area (though nothing I couldn't handle), and the gentle button didn't really make it much less painful.

So, if I love it (and I do so far), why only 4 stars instead of 5? Well, it's a little stinky that it doesn't work for everyone. I have friends with darker skin who would probably love to stop shaving too, but this isn't an option for them. I would also love to be able to use it on my legs, but my hair is too light there. That being said, if I hadn't gotten this product to try for free, I definitely would buy it. I can't tell you how much I've spent on useless hair removal products over the years, so this product that works would be worth every penny to me! Legs are easy to shave anyway.

Personal super bright light zapper!

I was SO excited to be part of this campaign as I've always wanted to get laser hair removal. I am light to fair skinned with dark hair so after reading all of the manuals cover to cover I was super thrilled to see that it seemed I was an ideal candidate for this this product! I am also getting married next year so I'm excited to potentially see results before my wedding date.
I was eager to start using it right away, so as soon as it arrived I hopped in the shower and set off to shave my legs, armpits and bikini area as recommended. I was excited to find that there was no "warmup time" or anything, you literally just plug it in, a little fan inside begins to spin, and it's ready to go!
I wasn't sure what to expect at first as I'd never used something like this so I tried it on my foot first just to see if it would hurt or get hot or anything. NOTHING. This product literally just shoots a very bright light at your skin. That's it! So I began and did my legs first, as well as my bikini area and my armpits. It took a little practice to get the pace right while holding down the button and while I do love the censors on the sides that tell you if you've got it at the right angle (and also adjust it to your skin tone), I did find that I kept tilting it at a slight angle as I moved up my leg and it sometimes made it stop working until I readjusted it. I'm also not entirely clear on the coverage area of the light... is it just directly in the rectangle under the machine or does it work in the surrounding area that the light spills out to as well? I wasn't sure if I was going over an area I'd already zapped as a result, and it definitely took a while to cover large areas. I also found it difficult to avoid looking at it because of this, and while I tried my best to avoid doing so, the light was EXTREMELY bright so it did end up hurting my eyes a bit. Next time I think I will wear sunglasses. Even when you look away it's enough to light up a room. My fiancé took a video of the light flashes coming from the room I was in (from outside the room) and posted it on Facebook saying it looked as though I was creating a Frankenstein's monster lol. It's BRIGHT!
I found that I'd missed a few spots shaving and when I went over those area I smelled burnt hair and it stung a little bit. I was curious what it actually was doing so I tried it on the back of my (unshaven) hand on the peach fuzz there... it incinerated it. The hair was ash on the back of my hand! So I gather that this product does actually burn stuff with light somehow and I'm a little anxious to know what long term usage would possibly do to your skin, however I'm willing to keep it up for the short term if it means I don't have to shave anymore!
As of this post I've only used it twice (they recommend only once a week) so I'm unsure if I've gotten any results but will keep an eye on it as I keep using it. I'm excited, it's definitely an interesting product and my friends are super jealous that I'm trying it out, they're all begging to know how it works out for me. Fingers crossed!!
