[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I can't say I've seen any drastic results in the 3 weeks I've been using it however, I will speak to the quality of the product and the fact that it does what it says it will do from what I can see. The one thing that is concerning is that after having read all the material and watched the video, it seems as though any hair left above the surface of the skin should fall out once treated. I have not had that experience. I have seen some of the hairs curl up like they got burned but they never have fallen out and I haven't yet seen a reduction in quantity.

Easy and simple to use!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] While I was a little hesitant when I first received my Gillette Venus Silk-expert from Braun for free, after using it one time I am very happy with the results! The instruction booklet was a little intimidating, but once I took the time to read through it I found it very easy to set up and use. There are very little buttons to learn and the device basically does everything for you! I've had laser hair treatment in a spa before and was expecting this to be just as painful, but was surprised at how gentle the treatment was. The only problem I've found with it was in reaching smaller or very contoured places. The device does require contact with two parts, which are kind of far apart, making these areas hard to maneuver around. Other than that, it is simple to use, easy to set up, and gets the job done!

Seems like a good product

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this kit for free through buzz agent in exchange for my honest review. I have to say up front that I have not used the product long enough to know what the true results would be if I continued. I used it for about 3.5 weeks, then found out I was pregnant and since the instructions say it hasn't been tested with pregnant women therefore is not recommended, I opted not to continue the treatment. However, I can still review based on my use for those 3.5 weeks.
I was excited to try this out because I have light skin and very dark hair and have to shave my legs every day! This product was pretty user friendly. I have extremely sensitive skin and did experience some slight irritation the first couple uses but it seemed to ease after. I think this product does have potential to work well with extended use. I did start to feel like I didn't have to shave my legs every single day and I didn't feel as "prickly" I plan to start using it again after baby is born. I can update my review then

At this rate, I will not be shaving in the summer! I am amazed at how easy and painless this tool is to use. Razors are a thing of the past for me.

Day one, trying it out

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just received the Gillette® Venus® Silk-expert powered by Braun® 5008 from Gillette for free in exchange for my honest review of the hair removal system. The first thing I did was read the manual. The directions for use were simple and straightforward and I felt confident that I would be successful in operating the device. However, I was a bit thrown by all the warnings. Warnings about burning of the skin, not looking directly into the laser light when it flashes, not using on tanned skin or recently treated skin as well as warnings about skin discoloration. Taking that all in I decided to "test" the system on my under arm just in case I did experience skin discoloration or a reaction to the heat. First I shaved, cleaned and thoroughly dried my under arm per the directions. Then I plugged the wand in and it was ready in less then a minute. I firmly held the wand against my arm pit and after checking the light gauge (which determines the darkness of your skin and how strong the light will be) I clicked the button. There was a quick flash of light and a small burst of heat on my skin. The best way to describe the feeling is that it felt like it zapped my skin. The "zap" did hurt, but just for a second and a very mild discomfort. I repeated this about 6 times to cover my entire under arm. It was a little difficult to determine if I had really covered all areas with hair as well as make sure that I did not go over an area more then once. I imagine this is easier on the legs, arm and bikini line since you can see those areas better. In my test I did not use the "continuous" method, so I am not sure as to what the discomfort level is with that method. My underarm did sting a little afterwords, but only for about 10 minutes. So far I do not see any redness and there are no other noticeable reactions at this time. I will continue to treat my underarm for the next few weeks and watch for skin discoloration before I move on to more visible areas like my legs. All in all, the Gillette® Venus® Silk-expert powered by Braun® 5008 is fairly easy and straight forward to use. If the hairs on my under arm begin to dissipate over the next few months I for sure will be using the Gillette® Venus® Silk-expert powered by Braun® 5008 all over my body.

Nice hair removing tool so far!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was so excited to try the Venus Silk Expert IPL hair remover from Braun for free! I had laser treatments done on my bikini area before at a treatment facility which hurt like crazy and was so expensive, but gave me good results, so I wasn't sure what to expect from a home device. So far, so good with this one! It was a very easy set up-just plug in the power supply cord into the device and then into the wall and the power fan automatically turns on. The directions are simple too...just make sure you keep good skin contact for the sensors, which is easy to tell because there are white lights on the sides that light up when it is being used correctly. Then you just press the glide button continuously as you move the device slowly across your desired hair removal area and you're done!
The pain initially was about a 5/10, but it definitely varies with each user and I got used to it the more I used it on my legs. The device feels very hot on your skin as you're using it, like little tiny shocks, but is much easier than the laser treatment "shocks" I felt at a laser treatment facility and it made me feel like it was working now having had compared the two types of treatment. I can't wait to see the results after a full course...12 weeks (only once a week).

The only problem I had was before I even started because I hadn't realized when I signed up that you couldn't use it on newly tanned skin, which is kind of hard to do in the summer. It says to wait a week after tanning, but I'm not sure if my tanned skin will affect the results or not at this point. So I had to wait a little while before I could actually use this item. The darker your skin, the less power/joules the device will output, so it may not work as well or it may take a longer period of time to get the same results. If your skin is too dark, it won't work at all, but luckily, I was still in good range for treatment! Overall, I recommend this product so far for its ease of use.

Great experience

It comes with a facial brush that's really good for exfoliating, I've been using a few times a week. The IPL has surprised me, it's really well made and easy to use. Just plug and made contact with your skin and and press the button until you hear a noise, your skin will feel a bit warm, It's not painful at all. I've been using for a little over than 4 weeks but I can't tell the difference yet. I'll definitely keep using it once a week since it's very easy and doesn't take a long time. Hopefully will have good results.

Must Have Beauty Kit!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the Gillette® Venus® Silk-expert powered by Braun® beauty edition free from Braun which contained both the body hair remover and a face cleansing brush. Both products were very easy to use and work great! I've used the face cleansing brush daily since I've gotten it and my skin is noticeably more smooth and bright. For the Silk-expert hair removal, it's already worked well. I have fair skin and dark hair, which I think is an ideal combination for light energy hair removal products. I highly recommend this kit for anyone who is looking for lasting hair removal.
