Love it and so unexpected

Way better than waxing!!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product free from Braun as a BzzAgent to take it out for a few test spins and comment on its performance.
In full disclosure, I had professional laser hair removal about 13 years ago on my legs and bikini area. Now, having said that, we all know that it's not entirely permanent as hair follicles can become active again after being dormant. I had a few of these wayward, non-compliant hairs sprouting again on my legs and bikini area that after 6 weeks of weekly zapping are now gone again! I also thought I'd give it a try on my underarms too. Sweet Fancy Moses! Again, after six weeks, the hair is thinning out and patchy.
I'm really pleased with the results thus far, but wish a pair of safety glasses to protect our eyes from the blazing light pulses would gave been included, even though the information states that they're not required - I feel differently. I just close my eyes when I'm using the Silk-expert and hope that I got everything zapped. Also, as the unit heats up, the pain associated with each IPL zap intensifies, but beauty is pain and so worth it in this scenario!

Good Results

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Thanks to Braun, I received the Venus Silk expert for free for my honest feedback. I have been pleasantly surprised about the results. I have used it 9 times (9 weeks) on my legs and underarms. I have noticed a significant reduction of hair growth in my underarms. As for my legs, it has decreased, but it hasn't been as successful as the underarms. For reference, I am light complected with dark hair. I haven't had any adverse reactions. As for the ease of use, I still feel it is really easy to use. The devise fits nicely in my hand and now that I have been using it for awhile I have an easy routine down. There is still a bit of a sting when you use it, but it doesn't bother me at all. It's more like a rubber band hitting you very quickly. I don't find it painful, just more annoying. I also haven't had any weird smells come from it. It's been a pretty easy experience. I am excited to see what the final results will be in three weeks!

Gilette Venus Silk -expert IPL

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using the Venus Silk-expert Intense Pulsed Light machine for 5 weeks now. The machine is designed to break the cycle of hair regrowth so you don't have to shave as often. The instructions say you use the machine once a week. There are three settings on it. The higher the setting, the more intense the feeling you get from the machine. Since I am very fair, I decided to go with the lowest setting on the machine. I easily set the machine (just push a button and it lights up) and then proceeded to use it on my legs and under arms. I did the lowest setting for 2 weeks, then moved up to the next setting for two weeks. This last week I went up to the highest setting. For me, I think this was the best way because by gradually going up, it didn't hurt when I used the machine. The first time I used the machine, I accidentally did it on the highest setting and it felt like a little zap. It only stung for all of a few seconds, it wasn't bad.
I feel like I am seeing more results as the weeks have gone on. I like that you only have to do it once a week. It isn't a huge time commitment. I picked Sunday mornings since I usually have a little extra time to get ready on that morning. With summer coming, I will be glad to slow down the hair growth.
I found it easiest to go around my legs, trying to approach my legs in a grid type pattern. That way I didn't loose track of which area I had already pulsed. One thing I really liked is that it only takes a second or two for the machine to recharge, so it doesn't make you wait long to keep going on larger areas like your legs.
I am excited to see what the results will be in the coming weeks.

Intense but Awesome

Underarms are not working as well but it may take more time. All and all seems to be a great product. I am still going and am on the end of week three.

Great alternative to laser hair removal

This is a GREAT at home alternative to laser hair removal. I use a traditional razor to shave my legs (as per the instructions) prior to treatment. This is easy to use and I have seen a reduction in hair regrowth since using it the past couple of weeks. It is very safe as I've tested lifting one side up and the light goes out. It needs good flat contact which can be tricky on the underarms, ankle area and knee area. This was very easy to setup and use. This is much more affordable and convenient than going to a laser removal center and spending hundreds of dollars and this allows touch ups and retreatmetns at home!

Still a work in process

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was very excited to receive the Gillette hair removal system. I have dark hair and I tried it on both of my legs; the first application went very smoothly. It was not painful; just felt kind of like a small sting but nothing that hurt at all. The product was very easy to use and the bright light was easy to shield my eyes from. It was easy to maintain constant skin contact. After I used it the first time, I did not have any redness or soreness. After the third or fourth time that I used the device, that's when I finally begin to see some results. My hair was noticeably thinner, not as coarse and not as thick. It was coming back but not nearly as much as usual. Overall I am happy with the product. It is not a 100% solution which is why I said it is still a work in progress. I look forward to using it a bit more in the future to hopefully eliminate as much hair as possible. The packaging of the product was very well-made and it kind of reminded me of an Apple product. It had its own individual box. Very sleek, very modern and extremely easy to use. The facial cleansing brush was a nice little surprise. It also is very easy to use and has a very gentle cleaning head. It does a nice job polishing up your skin. I use just a simple regular facial cleanser and it lathers up well and rinses off easily. The bristles are easy to run under the sink to clean and I have had no problem with sensitivity or redness on my skin. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who would like to remove unwanted hair and to use a nice facial cleanser.

Salon Quality device!

I was pleasantly surprised by the new Gillette Venus Silk-expert powered by Braun. Firstly, I was pleased by the packaging of the devices, and second by the quality. The Silk-expert and the facial cleansing brush were packaged individually, and were displayed like high end electronics. The Silk-expert system comes with a power supply and easy to follow instructions. There are three treatment modes, Low, medium and high. Depending on the area that is to be treated, you can easily switch between intensity levels. The buttons on the device are easy to understand and control. The device is a bit weighty, but feels comfortable in the hand. I first tried this device on the back of my hand and arm. I did a test spot on the back of my hand first, to ensure I would have no adverse reactions. So far I have noticed that the hair that has grown back is very very light in color, and very hard to see unless you are looking at a certain angle. I am very impressed with the ease of use, and the time it takes for treatment. So far I am only testing with my hand and arms, but I cannot wait to treat all other areas. The cleansing brush runs on batteries and is very easy to operate. It has a dual direction switch and a button on top to release used brush heads. To replace the brush head, you simply snap a new one back in and you are good to go. The cleansing brush was gentle enough to not irritate, but provided enough scrub to really deep clean and exfoliate. I highly recommend both products.
