So far this thing seems pretty amazing!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was frankly skeptical on how well a home hair removal product would work. I have never had professional laser removal done, so I didn't have a frame of reference there. Here are my impressions so far.
This thing is big! From the pictures, I was assuming this item was about the size of an electric razor. Not so. It is a weighty (not in a bad way) item. It clearly has some serious hardware in there.
It's hard not to look at the light! The instructions say to look away from the unit before you press the button as the light it emits is very bright. Easier said than done!
It stung a bit at first. I tried it first on my armpits as that is a small easy to see area (in the mirror anyway) I had the unit on regular power, and let's be honest, armpits are tricky to shave. These things probably contributed to the stinging sensation. Enough to make your eyes water. I turned it to the gentle mode for my legs and it pretty much quit stinging.
The maneuvering can be tricky. As I mentioned, this unit is larger than it looks. You need to have the sensors on both sides of the head touching your skin or it won't fire. Had to get a little tricky to do bony bits like ankles, shins and knees. It's possible, just tricky.
Will take some time to see how well it worked. You have to use it every week for several weeks to be sure you got all the hairs. Between growth cycles and operator error, it will take a while to catch everything.
So far so good. I used this device and a week later had significantly less hair growth than normal.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Let me start by saying this is not my first time with laser hair removal. About 12 years ago I worked for a Dermatologists office and when they got their laser I was the Guinea pig. Having said that I had many very painful treatments done and still have full hair growth. I had treatment on my lip, underarms, and legs. I never thought about doing it again because I didn't see why go through all that pain for no outcome.
Happily after only 3 treatments I already notice some changes with the Venus Silk Expert. The biggest area I see change is on my legs. Yes I still have hair growth but I can see that some areas on my legs are patchy. Meaning that the hair is growing back at a slower rate.
I find the actual laser very simple to use. It's not to large to maneuver and you can easily hold it with one hand. The actual head of laser has to touch skin on both sides so that you can use it. This can make it hard on the front of the calves. For that I just turn the laser sideways. I timed myself the other day. I did both calves and underarms in only 15 minutes!!
The laser doesn't hurt much at all. The first initial zaps are ok but I find if you move the laser to fast the head can get warm and it hurts slightly more. As for the underarms the feather touch button helps!! The thinner the skin the more painful it is. The back of the calves are the least painful and over the bone on the leg can be sensitive.
So after 3 weeks I am quite happy with this product thus far. I'm definitely excited to see what the following weeks bring. I'm hoping that my underarms start thinning the way my legs have.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First let me give you some basic info of myself. I'm Asian, have light/pale skin (I don't like the sun and don't like to get tanned), my hair is black, which makes it more obvious if I don't shave. Yep, black hair on pale skin stands out too much. I've always wanted to try IPL laser hair removal, but you know, it's a bit pricy. My usual hair removal method is that I use an epilator for my underarms, and I shave my legs. The reason why I don't use an epilator on my legs is because it gives me unwanted ingrown hair almost every time I do.
When I receive Gillette® Venus® Silk-expert, I was so excited to try it. The instruction is pretty clear, you remove your unwanted body hair first using whatever method you like (razor, epilator), and then you use Gillette® Venus® Silk-expert. This machine is aesthetically pleasing, easy to hold, and not too bulky to travel with. Personally I don't think it hurts at all, it's like a very very slight pinch sensation, but you can always turn it down or select the gentle mode. I will say though, it's not the easiest thing to use it on your finger/knuckle hair, or toe hair.
One thing you should know is that it actually takes quite a long time to go through my legs, thighs, underarms. You can't glide the device through you skin, you have to point at a spot, hit the button, lift up the device, put it on the next spot, hit the button again, and repeat. This is a bit more time consuming than I expected.
I used it for 8 weeks (you're recommended to do this once a week), I can't say it's perfect and that it got rid of all of my unwanted hair. However, I think it's helping my hair grow slower and finer. Also, I have extremely sensitive skin, but this device hasn't caused any irritation or discomfortm and because this doesn't use force to pull out/shave off your hair, it doesn't cause any ingrown hair (YAY)!
I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who's interested in IPL hair removal, it's easy to use, you can do it while watching your favorite show, or while listening to your favorite podcast. I will continue to use this, and hopefully I can permanently say good bye to unwanted hair.
*I received this product for free from Braun to test and review. Shout out to Braun for offering this opportunity to experience this cool little device.

I was so excited to receive Venus Silk-expert! So the minute I received it, I opened it up. It is a nice size and is holding it is comfortable. I shaved my legs and tried it out. It is super easy to use and I am looking forward to seeing if it really works! I also received the facial cleansing brush also. It made my face incredibly soft. I have another cleansing brush that I usually use...but the Gillette cleansing brush does a much better job!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had great results with the Gillette Venus Silk-expert IPL. I have very dark brown hair and fair/light skin tone and it is a perfect combination for the best results from this product. I have used the Gillette Venus Silk-expert IPL on my upper lip, under arms, legs, and bikini line.
Results:
Upper Lip- Usually pluck every other day. Did 3 treatments over 2 week time. Lip is virtually hairless after 5 weeks (3 weeks after last treatment)! Had 2 stray hairs that I got with tweezers instead of doing another treatment. Pain was very minimal, less than rubber band snap. I did not shave first as the instructions indicate, I won't use razor on my face, but it did not seem to cause any issues.
Underarms- Very thick, course, quick growing hair (if wearing sleeveless top need to shave in morning and afternoon). Did 8 treatments (every 3rd day for 3 weeks), after 4th treatment most hair had stopped growing/was very slow to grow. There was a small patch on one side that still grew, may have missed them or was just really stubborn. Have not done treatment in 2 weeks and only had to shave a couple of stray hairs once. Hairs seem finer than when shaving and were not very noticeable. Pain was very little, much more comfortable than waxing, but do be sure to shave well and make sure all deodorant is off as it does cause more discomfort.
Legs- Dark quick growing hair, shaved daily if wearing skirt/shorts, every other day when not so concerned about stubble. I have to point out that I love the continuous pulse on the Gillette Venus Silk-expert IPL for my legs. I did my legs twice a week for 3 weeks (6 times total). I have noticed a few stray hairs in the past 2 weeks since my last treatment but legs are overall 95% hair free. The few hairs that did grow are not picky or as dark as when I shave so my husband is very happy too. I felt no pain on my legs from the IPL, just a slight warmth. I did notice that my legs seemed slightly dry the day after a treatment but I am unsure if this was due to the treatment but was easily resolved with a little extra lotion.
Bikini line- very dark, thick, coarse, hard to remove hair. I usually just keep my bikini line trimmed because shaving and waxing both caused severe irritation and needed to be done daily and still had picky stubble by end of day. It took me a couple of weeks to get brave enough to try the Gillette Venus Silk-expert IPL on my bikini line. I have done 3 treatments in the past 2 weeks on my bikini line and the hair is 85% gone. There was a couple of small bumps, nothing too irritating and just soft fuzzy hair regrowth. The bikini line was definitely the most painful. The first couple of treatments were like getting snapped hard by a rubber band but the last treatment seemed much more comfortable, probably due to the fact that there is much less hair. I noticed little black dots after the first treatment, it is like the hairs had started to grow but died before it got through the skin. I found using an exfoliating cloth works really well to clear up these little hairs.
Over all the Gillette Venus Silk-expert IPL really does what it promises. I will definitely continue to use the product, especially with summer coming.

Happy with the progress so far

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been using the Gillette® Venus® Silk-expert powered by Braun that I got for free from Braun for about 4 weeks now. While it does take time to see full results, I have already noticed a slowing of the regrowth. The tool is very easy to use, but I do recommend reading the instructions first. I also recommend doing a test patch. My skin can be sensitive, so I definitely did the test first to make sure there weren't any issues. I have started with my under arms. I am using it on gentile mode since the skin there can be sensitive. Even using the gentile mode, I am seeing results. Once I complete the under arms, if I have good results, I will definitely do my legs.
The tool is simple to use and it only takes a few minutes to complete both under arms. I do want to point out that there is a noise that the tool makes. When you press the button to start the treatment, there is a flash of light but also a noise. Almost like a popping sound. The first time I used it, I jumped because it wasn't expecting it. I didn't read anything about a noise in the instructions. It doesn't bother me now that I know, but wanted to make others aware .
So far I haven't had any issues with irritation, redness, or tenderness of the treatment site. I am really hopeful this treatment will work and excited to try it on other areas.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Wow! Can you say impressive?!?! I was thrilled when I opened my free product yesterday. It looks so sleek - like something from the future. It is so easy to use; I can't wait to start seeing the results! I thought it might hurt, but I was pleasantly surprised to find this was relatively pain-free.

My review Gillette Venus Silk-expert

I cannot tell you how excited I was to be chosen for this BzzCampaign. I was born with fair skin and dark body hair, the worst combination, and have wanted to try laser hair removal since I first heard about it years ago. So here is my initial report on my very first use of the Gillette Venus Silk-expert. On day 1, I did a test patch on my upper thigh to make sure I would not have any adverse reactions. I let the device linger just a second or two too long on the first spot I placed it, which hurt a bit, like touching a hot stove for a split second. But in the 24 hour time period afterwards I did not see any reactions to worry about. Day 2, I started my day off with a shower that included shaving my legs, stomach, and armpits, the areas I wanted to treat. I started with my legs, using long, slow strokes up my leg while pressing the on button continually. Then I used the short pulse method on my stomach and armpits, which were smaller areas to treat. It took about 30 minutes altogether. Now that I had the hang of it, I did not have that burning sensation at any point on day 2. I did notice that if there were areas where I did not shave adequately, I smelled a burning hair smell when I went over those areas. This was unpleasant, but bearable. My only concern was that the instructions say that you should not look directly at the product while it's in use, but they also tell you not to go over the same area twice and to avoid using it on moles, freckles, and birthmarks. I found it hard to do both of those things at the same time. I'm wondering it it might be worthwhile to invest in some sort of eye protection, as even the light that escapes from the sides of the device while in use is quite bright. I'm curious to see what other BzzAgents thought about this. I am also curious to see how much hair returns when I prepare for my second treatment this weekend.
