I cant believe something of this technology level is so easy to use. Plug and "play"! The directions were very easy to understand. Poured myself a glass of wine and got to it! Looking forward to getting some results!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After 5 weeks I am about 50% defoliated. I experienced some dry skin to begin with but nothing a little moisturizer couldn't fix. I does seem to be taking a while to knock out new growth. Right now the stubble grows in patchy, like a have mange!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was terrified to use this product! I literally walked around the box for weeks. Finally I decided it was a use it or lose it situation. I did the test, the small spot and that eased my fears a bit.
The next day, while shaving again, I thought I'd give it a full shot. I am so excited about this. I would buy this product! I am an everyday shaver. Truly, I have either had to chose long pant or shave everyday since I started shaving. The amount of money spent on products to lessen the hair, shave, wash it off or creams.....I could have purchased this product 5 time!
I still have to shave. I have used this product 4 times. But I don't have to shave everyday!!
So glad I stopped being a chicken and tried this!

bye bye asian arm hair?

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I knew it was a sign when one of my first memories is pretending to "shave" my "mustache" with my dad back when I was a kid. That was the start of my quest to be rid of unwanted body hair, which is especially surprising given by Asian, supposed-to-have-minimal-body-hair background.
I've tried shaving, Nairing, waxing, epilating, threading, and most recently made the investment to get laser treatment for my lower legs. While it was pricey, my experience with laser was great - it now saves me time every morning being able to just pop on some lotion and go!
Unfortunately, going to a salon for laser treatments was kinda expensive and so while saving up for treating my underarms, arms, and bikini area, I started to look into home laser treatment (especially since I'm not the most comfortable getting lasered in my bikini area by a stranger). When the Silk-expert arrived, I was so excited! The packaging looks super classy (reminded me of when I got my iPhone - all cozy in its slick white packaging) and it was really easy to set up - just plug and go!
First items on the list - underarms and arms (I just delivered our 3rd baby a few days ago so the bikini area can definitely wait!). While my underarm hair is pretty coarse (which is supposed to be good for lasering), my arm hair is thin but abundant. So I shaved those areas, pushed the button, and saw a red light? I decided that I should probably look at the instructions and found out that my summer minimal-sunscreen Asian arm skin is too dark! (Attached is a photo of my apparent golden tan.) I was able to laser a couple spots on my upper arm and was successful with my underarms but important notes:
1. It burns! At the professional salon it felt more like a rubber band but this one feels more like a quick burn to the skin. I'm usually not a wuss but ended up having to set it on the gentle setting
2. It smells.... like burning flesh a little? I quickly got used to it but it was an unexpected and not super pleasant surprise
3. It's a bright light - so maybe my suggestions to others would be to invest in those special sunglasses (instead of being like me and staring right at the laser curiously and likely eye-damagingly)

I'm awaiting the results, which should be noticeable in a few weeks, probably in the wintertime for my arms, but overall a pleasant yet not perfect experience thus far. Of note I did receive this product for free, which made the decision to try it out that much easier ;). Not sure if I'd purchase it at full retail value without first verifying that I could fully treat all of my skin (without being too tan).

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After receiving the Gillette Venus Silk-expert free from Braun, I immediately had to give it a try. The directions are a little intimidating but it is a good thing that I read them first because they say to remove the hair from the area prior to using. Once you've read through everything it is easy to use. I decided to start with a small area first so I went with my under arms. The directions said not to look directly at the light so I used a mirror to see the area I was going over. It was a bit uncomfortable. It felt like a slight burning sensation and there was some redness and itching afterwards. The directions did say that this was normal. It wasn't anything that I couldn't handle or would stop using because of. It is definitely worth a slight bit of pain to not have to shave as often! It has been about 2 weeks since I have started using this and I have not noticed any significant results yet. The directions do say that you need to use for about 12 weeks before seeing full results because your hair grows in cycles. I will definitely continue to use this and I am excited to see the results! The packaging itself was very nice and it came with a bonus face brush which I have enjoyed using as well. I would for sure recommend this to a friend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have used the Gillette Venus Silk Expert now for 4 weeks. It took me a little while to be able to read the manual for the product. I was a little put off by the size of the manual and all the details to it. I tried to use it before I read the manual though and I could not get it to work. After reading, I figured out that you had to hold the machine just right on your skin to make it work. You have to hold the angle so both sensors are on your skin. I attached a picture that shows the lights on the side that show if the sensors are on your skin correctly. This was a little difficult on certain parts of my legs. Other than that, I found the machine to be pretty easy to use. There was a slight sting but I would not call it painful at all. The noise and bright light were more startling than anything.
It took about 20 minutes to go over both of my legs with the machine. It says to do it once a week. If it truly will eliminate hair growth then 20 minute of time is well worth it.
I have seen a slight reduction in the hair growth. I don't know about the hair not growing back at all but it doesn't seem to have slowed down.
Overall I think I will continue to use the product to see if the hair growth reduces even more or even gets to a point of not growing back.

Goodbye Hair!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First, let me mention that I received the Gillette® Venus® Silk-expert Powered by Braun free from Braun in exchange for my honest opinion .
I was so excited to try this product. When it was delivered, I couldn't open the package fast enough. It is sleek and fits nicely in the palm of my hand. I read through the directions first. You must shave your legs first. Once you are clean shaven, you may begin. I took into account that the directions advised that the head of the device must be in full contact with the skin for it to work. There is a measuring strip on both sides of the device that lights up when the device is properly positioned on the skin. Plus, the machine will not operate unless proper skin contact is made. Then, once you have full power bars lit up on the device showing it's positioned properly on the skin, you move it up the leg in a slow and steady pattern. You must pay attention that you are not missing any skin as you move up the leg . Kind of like shaving with a razor except you can't see or feel where you left off like you can with shaving. So, after reading the directions, I was ready to begin. I shaved both legs and dried them thoroughly. Then I plugged the device in. It powers on as soon as it's plugged into the outlet. It makes a soft sound similar to a nail dryer. The device does tend to warm up in your hands the longer it's on. It doesn't get so hot you can't hold it but it does get warm. I began at the front part of my ankle. I found that the more narrow the areas such as the ankle and knee are much harder to do because the machine needs to be fully flat against the skin for it to begin working. When the device is placed down at the ankle area, it can't be flat against the skin unless you turn it so that it is a bit more vertical. It's doable but you definitely have to work with it a little to find how it's best so that it makes full contact with your skin and both sides of the bars on the device are fully lit up showing it is at full power. Another issue I had is that the directions tell you to go slowly up the leg. But, they don't tell you how slowly. The hair removal light flashes every 2 seconds and if I moved too slowly, it flashed in the same spot on my leg which burned a bit. And if I moved the device too fast, I was missing areas of skin. It would be great if Braun made a video tutorial to explain the steps in more detail. The directions also advise against looking directly at the flash but you have to keep an eye on the measuring lights on either side of the device to make sure you are making proper contact. This was a bit difficult. It took me about 30 minutes to do each leg. I can see this time being less as I get better at using this device I found it hard to make sure I wasn't missing any spots as I moved up my leg. I couldn't easily determine where I began and where I left off. As for the pain, it was minimal. The manual compares it to the snap of a rubber band on your skin. I would agree with this. Only, the rubber band is being snapped about every 2-3 seconds on your skin. Definitely tolerable. There were several times when I could smell hair burning and feel some heat from the device on my leg. Nothing terrible. I'm hoping for good results. It's only the first week so I will post my results at the end of the recommended treatment time.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the Gillette Venus Silk-expert free from Braun. Overall, I think this product has great potential, and I'm excited to see results! I wasn't sure what to expect. Upon first using the Gillette Venus Silk-expert, I was caught off guard by the shock when I placed the machine on the bottom of my ankle and pushed the button. I would love to see a video that explains how to use the device and explain what to expect, in addition to the written instructions. But, after the initial shock (literally and physically), it honestly wasn't too bad. It feels like a little snap from a rubber band. I will gladly endure that to reduce and remove unwanted hair. I found the product a bit difficult to use on smaller hard-to-reach areas. My shins are not as wide as the head on the device, so I had to get creative with positioning. Once I figured out the best way to reach all of the hard-to-reach spots, it was quick and easy. I used the device on various areas, including legs, bikini line, arms, stomach and upper lip. I'm looking forward to seeing the results after several weeks. If this works, I will shout to the rooftops and tell all friends and family about this device.
