Time will tell

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using the product for 3 weeks now. Honestly, I have not seen noticeable results yet. However, when i use the device i have to tone down the setting as I really cant tolerate the high level i probably require. So i wonder if part of it is my fault. I think the product is easy yo use, just time consuming. But shaving is time consuming too

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product free from Braun in exchange for my honest opinion. When I first received the campaign invite for this product I was very excited! For starters, I love Braun products and have purchased several of their men's electric razors for my husband, updating them with newer products along the way. He loves everything about their razors and the quality of their products, so I was excited to try this product. I also have used Gillette Venus products for myself, so this was a win win for me all around. Before accepting the campaign, I did my research on what exactly an IPL hair removal system was and how it worked. It is an Intense Pulsed Light that flashes along the way to target and heat the hair to the root to permanently destroy it. I decided I was ready to try it. I received the product in nice neat packaging, along with a bonus facial cleansing brush! I used the brush immediately that night and loved everything about it. It fits nicely in your hand, the bristles are soft and gentle yet the scrubbing power is enough to make your skin tingle with a fresh clean feeling! I have used this with ease nightly to remove my make up and clean my face before bed. I love it! Now back to the IPL hair removal tool, I read the directions twice to be sure of how to use it as well as other reviews to see if other people had any tips on how to use it or what not to do etc. I shaved my legs before use and tested an area to be safe as directed. I have only used this product for two weeks so far, which is two treatments (as directed to do one treatment a week in the directions). I have a very light skin tone with dark hair, which for this specific device, is a really good thing, so I think it will work out well. The product was super easy to use, when the light starts flashing, it seems to pinch a little, but you get used to the feeling as I didn't know what to expect. So far both of my treatments went smoothly, I was able to glide the device over all areas of my legs with complete ease. The only thing I would say is a con is how bright the actual flashes are, I think protective eye wear would add to a little more comfort. My four year old daughter was in the room with me when I did my first treatment, and as a four year old she is curious and was staring at the light, I had to remove her from the room to continue because I didn't feel comfortable. My second treatment, I did later on in the night when she was asleep. I am more than excited to continue my treatment and see results further down the line. I will write another review when I reach the 8 week mark! So far so good though!

Start-up Phase Going Well with Braun's Gillette Venus Silk-Expert!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am in the Start-Up Phase (first weekly sessions, four-12 times weekly) of my hair eradication using Braun's Gillette Venus Silk-Expert using Intense Pulsated Light (IPL). So far, the ease of using this machine has been unbelievable!
I start out by exfoliating my skin, then shaving the area to be treated. I've been doing my legs and underarms to begin this process, but I plan to lose most of my body hair by the time I'm through!
Other methods of hair removal, such as depilatory and epilatory, only temporarily remove body hair. Braun's method of IPL will permanently remove my body hair by killing it at the root. It uses a laser to put the follicle to sleep, then breaks the cycle of regrowth by repeated laser treatments. This effectively stops the cycle of regrowing hair in the future! I have several more treatments left to achieve this, but so far so the laser treatments has been very easy and not at all painful.
What I like the most about this system is that Braun's IPL system regulates the light pulses so that there is no chance that my skin will ever be burned. Most of the light is absorbed more by my skin in areas where I have more melanin, and since this varies in the many different areas of skin that I'm treating from my underarms to my legs, I am never in danger of being burned!
I absolutely cannot wait to see the end result in a few weeks! I'll write a review then to let you know how it ended up. My skin is quite fair, so I expect that this process will be 100 percent successful by the end of this experiment.

Easy to use

I love it. Been using way more than directed - about 2-3 times a week on my calves and bikini area and a lot of it has fallen out, it's been less than a month.

First Thoughts

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I was chosen to review the new Gillette Venus Silk Expert Intense Pulsed Light Hair Removal System complimentary from Braun, I was super excited but not too sure what to expect. I had no experience with hair removal methods other than shaving or waxing. I'm pretty sure I don't know anyone who's used an IPL device either.
When the box arrived, I read the booklet inside and was surprised to find so many warnings. After I was sure I understood the manual, I decided to try it that night after I was freshly shaved. I skimmed over the manual again and read the instructions step by step again. I realized that this wouldn't be very complicated. The fan started whirring after I plugged it in, and the power bars lit up once. I held the IPL device to my leg and saw the skin tone sensor lights come on. I thought, so far, so good, all was in working order. I tried the regular mode first to see how it felt. Whoa, it was a big flash and a bit too much of a burning feeling. I worried that even the gentle mode might be too much for me. I looked at the directions again to check that the button with the feather was the gentle mode. Success! I closed my eyes during the flashes, and using the gliding gentle mode I was able to start treating my leg comfortably. As the picture illustrates in the manual, I pulled the device up my leg with the treatment window horizontally. I did have trouble around my ankle and shin bones, as the 2 skin tone sensors did not both touch my skin. Next week I will use the treatment window vertically to try covering those areas.
As I was using the device I became more relaxed and started enjoying the thought of doing this once a week to shave less often. I went ahead and treated my armpits as well. When I was finished, I unplugged the device and set it down to cool. About 10 minutes later, I pulled off the front section to see how easy it was to clean the Silk-expert. It came off by pulling event on both sides. I wiped it with a tissue, though I didn't see anything different about the front section or the glass filter other than a small black dot on the front section. Then I easily repacked the device into the box, excited for next week's treatment.
Today, the day after I treated my legs and armpits, I feel no different. There is no pain, burning, or visible change.
I've always wanted an easier way to remove hair. The fact that this is a noninvasive, minimally painful, convenient way to remove hair for long periods of time or even forever is exactly the type of product I would look for.

It Really Did Work!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Honestly, I was really skeptical because permanent hair reduction at home seemed like a dream that wouldn't work out for me. I used it on just one armpit to test and compare it to the other armpit over the past four weeks and I really have noticed that the hair is reduced. I will say the product didn't hurt per se, but it didn't feel great either. Also, I have fairly dark hair in comparison to my skin color, which I think helps the effectiveness of the product. I'm excited to keep using the product and to continue to see more results! My product came with a Braun Face Brush, which I thought was a little incongruous. Maybe if they put UV goggles or a balm/lotion it might fit better?

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had first heard about IPL (intense pulsed light) on the radio from someone else who had tried it. She had dark leg hair and said she was perfect for it and it worked great! I looked it up and having this done can cost thousands of dollars, so I was not interested.
When I heard that Braun made IPL devices for personal use, I thought what a great idea! They sent me one to try in exchange for an honest review. The full treatment cycle takes 12 weeks, so I have yet to see the final results but I will tell you all of my thoughts so far.
The fancy packaging contains one IPL device, cords, one razor and a user manual. I read the user manual front to back before use which is very important.
A few more important notes I learned is that it is not intended for use this on the face. I have a few dark hairs on my upper lip I had intended to try this on, but now I know that is a no-no! However it's perfect for women on the legs and underarms and bikini line, and even men who think they have too much back hair can give it a try as well!
I was a little intimidated to use the device because of what it is. I had in my mind that it was a laser beam is be focusing on my skin and that it would be easy to hurt myself with it. However, thankfully I found it very easy to use, as easy as simply shaving! I also thought that it would be awkward to use all around my legs. The flat front of the device needs to maintain constant contact with the skin and legs are round! However I never had any issue with the device loosing proper contact. It was easy and quick! No discomfort and no negative reaction. If I see good results I would recommend this product to everyone, I am so impressed!

easy to use

I was so worried that it would hurt, after trying on my legs I felt no pain. When using on my underarm, I felt slight pinching, but nothing intolerable. I really like that it is so easy to use and I had no trouble reaching all the places that I needed to.
