It Really Works!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Okay, I have been using this Venus Silk Expert hair removal system for six weeks now and I wish I could give one to every single female friend I have! This is revolutionary! I was actually considering laser hair removal at a salon prior to my upcoming wedding and this product changes EVERYTHING! There's no need to go anywhere and the results are AMAZING! My normal routine is to go to the gym Friday morning, head home to shower and shave every area I want to be hairless (legs, bikini line, upper lip, some preventative chin hair removal, etc), throw my robe on and get to work. And by work I mean plug in my Gilette Venus Silk-expert and throw a pair of dark sunglasses on (want to protect those babies!) and spend about 30 minutes slowly going over each area. Once I'm done I'm able to throw on some clothes and I'm out the door with the knowledge that I'm one week closer to never having to buy razors again and that right there feels like freedom.
The results I have seen are absolutely unbelievable. I have light colored skin and very dark hair that seems to cover every inch of my body that I would rather be hairless. Every single summer and/or vacation I dread the razor bumps, the ingrown hairs, the uncomfortable feel of stubble rubbing my inner thighs in a sun dress. It really is the absolute worst and I've tried everything out there, hence my desire to try salon laser hair removal. Within SIX WEEKS my hairy legs are smooth for days and even when I have a little growth (typically a day or two before the next treatment) it is sparse and not prickly. And guess what? This gym rat who lives in athletic tank tops hasn't shaved her armpits once (outside of prep for treatments) in four weeks! AND they are SMOOTH without ANY signs there was ever a single hair there!
I really can't say enough great things about this hair removal system. THANK YOU Gilette Venus!!!

Venus Silk Expert IPL

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My biggest concern was if this product would truly be effective at permanently removing unwanted hair. I have yet to see definitive results; I only just completed my fourth treatment (week). I treated my lower legs and I do feel like some of the hair has not come back but like I said, it's really too early to tell. I'm hopeful though! Not having to shave every day would be amazing.
My second concern was the level of discomfort from the treatment. Of this, I was pleasantly surprised. It has not been painful for me, more of a very slight sting, though I still do flinch each time in anticipation. Overall, I'm really impressed with this tool. It's easy to use and pain free. And if it does deliver on its promise, it would be the best hair removal product I've ever tried.

Who needs professionals when you have the Silk Expert!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So far so good. I've only used it twice, so the only thing I have noticed is that it takes a little longer for my hair to grow back on my legs. Rather than feeling stubble on day 2, it shows up on day 4. I haven't quite figured out how to get it to do the continuous pulse, so hopefully I will figure that out soon. I read the instructions and either my unit doesn't work properly, or the instructions are not right. I'll keep trying though

30 years of shaving is too many

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the Gillette Venus Silk-expert IPL system free from Braun in return for my promise of an honest review. When I first signed up for this program, I was under the mistaken impression that my free product would be a Venus razor powered by Braun; I was expecting a state-of-the-art electric razor. I've never been so happy to be so wrong!
I have had fairly sensitive skin my entire life, and shaving has always aggravated it. I was excited to try this new hair removal system, but being a directions-follower, I made myself take the recommended first step and test the IPL on a small area first.
36 LONG hours later, I was satisfied that my sensitive skin would not be angry with me, and so after a good, close shave on my underarms and legs, I took off running with my IPL.
What I noticed first was that the red flash of light is distracting; it was hard to keep the IPL on the right path up my leg with dots (like after a camera flash) in my vision. Once I learned to keep the white sensors in my peripheral vision, I fared much better.
Although some say there is pain involved, I would call it more of a discomfort, and a low level discomfort at that. My knees are pretty knobby, and so that posed some interesting positions while trying to make the sensors happy (maybe an added bonus of increasing flexibility?). My shins were also a trick; I found that by turning the IPL sideways so the width of it went up my leg rather than across it worked best.
I wear a lot of cap sleeves and sleeveless shirts at work, and find myself shaving my underarms at least every other day. I will be SO happy if this system works to minimize the need for shaving both my underarms and legs! Can't wait to see what the next 3 treatments prove!

Cost effective long term solution

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Venus Silk Expert is easy to use and does actually work for permanent hair removal. Compared to other at home laser hair removal devices the Venus device is easier to use and covers a larger surface area, so it's less time consuming. It is not pain free, but after a while you get used to the prickling, burning sensation. The biggest pros of this product are 1-near permanent (long term) hair removal. 2-overall cost when compared to similar in office/med spa prices, waxing, and shaving costs. As far as cons go number 1 would have to be the time commitment. This is not an instant results sort of product. It will be a few weeks before you start seeing results, which can be frustrating. 2-It is somewhat painful, but so are some other less permanent hair removal procedures. Overall, I have seen good results so far and will continue to use this product once a week for at least another 2 months. I would recommend this product for anyone who is willing to put in the time and effort for long term hair removal.

I have a Tria laser hair removal device and have been incredibly happy with the results. I have been wanting to start to use it again, so it was perfect timing for this bzz campaign! Iver the next several months, I will be trying my Tria Laser Hair Removal device on one side of my body and the Braun Venus Silk Expert on the other so there is a direct comparison. I am really excited about the glide feature on the Silk Expert!
One thing to note: I did try the Braun Silk Expert on a stray hair that was NOT shaved (and I did very thoroughly read the instructions and it says NOT TO DO THIS ON UNSHAVED HAIR). I did this because 1) I was curious how it would work against existing hair, and 2) I have used the Tria on hair follicles that aren't shaved. NOTE TO SELF: SERIOUSLY DO NOT DO THIS! MAKE SURE YOUR HAIR IS TOTALLY SHAVED! I wasn't expecting the IPL Silk Expert light to be so bright, but it was, AND it smelled like my hair was burning because t did zap that existing hair. So folks, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS! They are super important. That being said, I am actually even more excited to use this product and to do a direct comparison between both brands. Packaging was also very nice on the Braun, but the face thing was really weak so I probably won't use that much (but will try it). I'll compare the face cleaning brush to an Oil of Olay brush that I have at home (and love). Stay tuned!!

Great results in just a few weeks

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm in love with my new Gillette Venus Silk Expert. I love that it's portable, easy to use, and has different intensity settings for sensitive skin. The directions are easy to read and understand. Treatments only take a few minutes which is great if you have a busy lifestyle like I do. It's an extra 5 minutes after a shower to treat a few different areas. I treated a few small areas I.e. Under my arms, bikini, and tummy. In just 4 weeks and 4 uses I can already see a difference in each of the treated areas. There's definitely a lot less hair growth than before using the Venus Silk expert. I can't wait to see the results in 12 weeks! Never having to shave again is music to my ears.
theres just two downsides to the product..1. You can't look at it when it flashes 2. You can't treat the same area twice at the same time. These two downsides seem to go hand in hand. An improvement would be to either sell separately or add in the package a pair of special goggles to protect the eyes from the flash so you can watch where you're going and a special marker for skin that's easily removed so you can draw sections on the skin for large areas to reduce the chance of treating the same area twice.
I've compared pricing for hair removal treatments at a dermatologist office to the Gillette Venus Silk expert and cost difference if phenomenal. I definitely recommend the Venus Silk expert! Love love love

Great Product

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Gillette Venus Silk-expert by Braun is a great product! I received the product for free from Braun in exchange for my honest review. I have been using it about once a week for 8 weeks. I can see a difference in the hair growth. It is slower and thinner than before. I will continue to use it at least once a month and hopefully keep the results. I used it on my left leg and left armpit and do see a difference from my right side. Now I am using it on my right leg and armpit to have the same results! Overall, it is a great product that I would recommend to my friends and family. Thanks Braun!
