Amazing and convenient!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have done some laser hair removal in the past and this was so much more convenient! It was easy to do at home and took minimal time. And it worked! After a few weeks, the hair regrowth has lessened, to basically nothing. I am so happy- my legs are smooth and I don't need to worry anymore about shaving. I can just throw on a skirt without worrying about my legs being smooth. I've already told my friends about it, I am so pleased.

This was very intimidating at first. The instructions were very confusing as the booklet jumped around. The device itself, after I figured out the instructions and how to use it I found it very simple. It has just been a week, but I am still very smooth. There was no pain except under my arms and even there it was very slight. All and all, so far, I love it! I can't wait to continue!

No more shaving? Yes, please!

I have been shaving for too many years to count and have tried waxing as well as creams. I have never tried Intense Pulse Light technology and was very eager to try this product in the comfort of my home!
Prior to trying the product, I read the instruction multiple times. I was a little concerned with how many precautions there were. One of the precautions is to not use on sunburned skin. It struck me as odd to try this product during the summer when the chances of having a sunburn are so much higher. I also did not realize it would only work best on darker hair. Luckily, the hair on my legs and underarms is quite dark!
Per the instructions, I tried the Silk-expert on a small patch of skin on my underarm after shaving to make sure I did not have a bad reaction. Setting up and using the product was very easy. I did not know what to expect regarding the sensation. It does not hurt but does give you a bit of a jolt. Definitely not unbearable.
I waited 24 hours and it seemed as though I was good to go! I then used the product on my entire underarms and legs. The process was very quick and very easy. You are not supposed to treat the same area twice. This was a bit difficult to determine because you are not supposed to look at the light and it is hard to remember where you had last placed the device. I used the gliding setting for my legs and the one pulse for my arms.
While I haven't seen major results yet (after only one time, I am not expecting a miracle!), I did notice my stubble seemed less after the initial application. I am looking forward to see what will occur after the 12 week period!
On a side note, Braun also provided a face-cleansing brush. I have never used one before and I LOVE it! I use in the shower right after cleaning my face. The bristles work magic on my pores and my skin feels much smoother!

I have dark hair, and regrow th becomes visible the day after I shave, so this product was a perfect choice for me. I love the style of it. It's got a sleek finish & is easy to hold/maneuver. It does take some time to use over large areas, such as the legs, but once you get the hang of it, you can easily use it while watching tv or relaxing on the couch. As far as pain level, I was pleasantly surprised. I would not say it causes any pain. It is a little uncomfortable the first couple of times you hit the button, however I became used to it pretty quickly, and I didn't experience any discomfort while using it or after use. At this point (having used it a few weeks), I would recommend it. I will review again in a few weeks to update on progress and effectiveness.

This is the real deal!

I was excited to give it a go, but nervous because of all the warnings and instructions. After reading the booklet several times, I was ready to try it out. I decided to try it on my legs, because who doesn't want to be able to stop shaving their legs? This was probably a bad choice for the first try. I would suggest using it on a smaller area until you really get the hang of it. I tried it on the gentle setting first, because I was scared it would hurt, but then moved it to the regular setting. Most of the time it didn't feel like anything except maybe a little heat, but several times I did get a zap that felt almost exactly like being hit with a rubber band...in other words, a quick "ouch!" that was more of the surprise than pain. The machine has to sense the skin on the entire area, so it was tricky to do the more awkward shaped areas of my legs, like the shin. I finally turned it sideways (length-wise) for that part, and it seemed to work fine. I would suggest using this machine in bright light so it's easier to tell where you've already done (it leaves a tiny indentation for a few minutes after use). I tried the gliding style suggested by the booklet for larger areas, but didn't like it since you really do have to turn your face away when the light goes on, and if you can't tell when it's going to go, you don't know when to look away. I suggest just pushing the button each time (place the device, check for the "good to go" lights, turn away, push the button, repeat). All in all, I am very excited to see how this works in the next few weeks!

Buh-bye armpit hair!

I've been using this Gillette® Venus® Silk-expert powered by Braun® each Sunday on my underarms for over 2 months now. (The little snap you feel with each light pulse is slightly more noticeable in this area than it is on my ankles--the other area I'm treating--I don't even feel the snap there.) Because this device can only be used after a fresh shave, the only time I can evaluate whether or not it's actually slowing or eliminating hair growth is right BEFORE I shave again. And I have to say, the stubble is definitely lighter and sparser!!! Good stuff! I've been treating my ankles as well and the hair there is showing similar signs of improvement--but I started that treatment a few weeks after I had started my underarms. There's no reason that area shouldn't improve in a similar fashion. I like not having that "5 o' clock shadow" in my arm pits anymore! I might try treating my legs when the warmer weather is back. For now, pits and ankles are enough--I'm enjoying the annual cold-weather-no-shave period. ;) Here's the takeaway: if you are a person who feels compelled to shave often because you just can't stand stubble, this is TOTALLY for you. You're shaving anyway, might as well pass over the area with this and eventually see less hair, shave less often, and have less stubble. If you're just 'meh' about shaving, and a bit of stubble or growth doesn't bug you, this device may not be a good value for you. But a hair-free future for a fraction of the professional service price? Tempting, isn't it? :D :D :D

It was fairly easy to use after reading the instructions, and while the treatments did take some time to do, the end results have been worth it. Overall the product worked perfectly, and I no longer need to shave my legs regularly! Best thing ever.
