Very excited

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am so happy with my results! I could see a difference after the first treatment. The hair didn't grow back as fast. Now, after 4 treatments, not only are the hairs taking much longer to grow back, but there are less of them! I can not wait to keep using this product. It is easy, quick, painless, and the results are AWESOME!!!

Good result and easy to use

I'm Asian, have light/pale skin (I don't like the sun and don't like to get tanned), my hair is black, which makes it more obvious when I don't shave. Yep, black hair on pale skin stands out too much. I've always wanted to try IPL laser hair removal, but you know, it's a bit pricy. My usual hair removal method is that I use an epilator for my underarms, and I shave my legs. The reason why I don't use an epilator on my legs is because it gives me unwanted ingrown hair almost every time I do.
When I receive Gillette® Venus® Silk-expert, I was so excited to try it. The instruction is pretty clear, you remove your unwanted body hair first using whatever method you like (razor, epilator), and then you use Gillette® Venus® Silk-expert. This machine is aesthetically pleasing, easy to hold, and not too bulky to travel with. Personally I don't think it hurts at all, it's like a very very slight pinch sensation, but you can always turn it down or select the gentle mode. It's not the easiest to use this device on very small areas such as fingers/knuckles or toes, but I still managed to get it done, just takes a bit longer.
I used it for 8 weeks (you're recommended to do this once a week), I can't say it's perfect and that it got rid of all of my unwanted hair. However, I think it's helping my hair grow slower and finer. I also have very sensitive skin but have never gotten any bad reactions from using this device, I was worried that it'd irritate my skin, but no, my skin has been fine and smooth. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who's interested in IPL hair removal, it's easy to use, you can do it while watching your favorite show, or while listening to your favorite podcast. I will continue to use this, and hopefully I can permanently say good bye to unwanted hair.

Gillette Venus Silk-expert

I recently started using the Gillette Venus Silk-expert. I've used it twice already. The directions recommend that you first do test areas. I did that because I didn't want to have any negative reactions, and I didn't. The machine has different settings and I used the lightest setting and figured I would do that for a while. I wish there was a little more guidance in the instructions to know if you start at the lowest setting, when you should go up. It has been a bit of a learning curve to figure out the best way to use the machine on my legs. You have to have the front of the machine coming in complete contact with your skin, so bony areas and smaller areas like your ankles, can be a challenge depending on how you hold the machine, but it isn't something that can't be easily fixed. The machine quickly recharges, so I was happy that I could keep "zapping" the different areas of my legs. The instructions say it can take up to 12 weeks to see results. I figured I will keep giving it a try, especially before shorts season begins. I didn't give it 5 stars because I can't say for sure yet if it is going to work. But it only requires you to do a treatment once a week, so I figured that isn't a lot of time to invest if it does work.

Skeptical At First - Satisfied With The Result

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Initially when I opened up the Gillette® Venus® Silk-expert from Braun, I was incredibly excited, though a bit skeptical. I am white with very fair sensitive skin. While I don't need to shave often, I do need to shave enough for it to be annoying and continuously get ingrown hairs. I have wanted to try electrolysis for some time now, though can't bring myself to make the investment - both time and money. To get the chance to try this product free from Braun was awesome. It's important to remember to shave, clean and dry the area that you are going to treat before use. I didn't want to go overboard and damage my skin, so I targeted a test area on my leg and have been using it once per week for 7 weeks now. It does pinch a bit, but a lower setting can be used if you don't have a strong tolerance to pain or if you just have sensitive skin. The Gillette® Venus® Silk-expert has not yet removed all of the hair from the test area, but it has greatly reduced the number of hairs and remaining hairs are growing back lighter and more fine. It's important to note that I the use of this device didn't cause any visible harm to my skin (on the lowest setting). I will be expanding the test area and trying this out on my full legs starting this week. The device is manageable in size, though not so small that it's easy to pack to take on vacation or work trips. That said, I would recommend for home use. Does the Gillette® Venus® Silk-expert replace the need for full on electrolysis treatment? I can't answer that as i haven't gone through the electrolysis process; however, it does appear to be a solution to reduce hair on certain parts of your body.
*The attached image shows the test spot (front middle) on my leg. Fair skin and freckles, but much less hair. Have not shaved in 2 weeks in this picture.

Follow the instructions!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This product is awesome but read the instructions! It tells you to shave before using the product. If you do not, here is what happens. First their is a stinging sensation when you find that unshaven hair and then there is the stench of burning hair. You hair does not catch fire or anything but it does do that weird burned, fried out thing. That aside. It is not painful to use. At first i was a little unhappy with the idea of having to use it every week for a while but then i realized it is no worse than shaving daily. After a month I noticed that my hair was already growing less and that it was not as course as it used to be. With my continued use. I barely have to shave and honestly I think those are spots i did not get well with the product. I am happy with it and I would absolutely buy one if I had not gotten this one free for a review.

Still love it after 5 weeks

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Wanted to do a quick follow up review... I have been using the Venus Silk-Expert IPL for about 5 weeks now. I use it weekly, as per recommended in the instruction manual. Happy to say I am still very positive, and I love it even more now that I can see definitive results! It's such a quick and simple process: I shower, shave, dry off thoroughly, plug in the device, and go to town. I treat my forearms, my under arms, my lower legs and my knuckles. I am making myself sound like a hairy beast, but that is not really the case. I have pale skin and black hair, so I am quite conscious of it. And I hate that gray cast I can see under the skin, sometimes even after shaving. The IPL light technology adjusts perfectly to my skin tone and zaps those follicles! The hair has grown back SO much slower, finer and more sparsely. And no more gray dots under the skin, where the hair's root is. I was sitting on the couch last night and my husband stroked my arm. He did a double take and said "Smooth!". And he is not the type to typically comment like that. I just smiled to myself, a happy little secret. I will certainly continue to use the machine and expect I will have even more complete results in time. Sorry Med Spa, don't need you anymore for laser hair removal. Dr. Gillette Venus Silk-Expert is my new go-to.

Wow! That was easy!

My first impression when I opened the box from Venus/Braun was what a beautiful and high quality looking item. The unit is sturdy, but not too heavy. The instructions were clear and worth reading thoroughly. I could not wait to give this product a try, but was nervous about the pain factor. I put the baby to bed and carved out some time to shower and have 'me time'. First of all, it was quick to plug in and start up. No wait time. Just go! The name may be Intense Pulse Light , but the pain was not intense at all. I started on the gentlest setting, but will move on to the next setting for my next session. I quickly moved from area to area. I liked the 'glide' feature, which felt like shaving with the light. I treated my lower legs, underarm, neckline, and stomach in about 30 minutes. Speaking of the light that was tricky to get used to. They instruct to look away, but I did not at first, and it is intense and I kept seeing that flash in front of my eyes. It is also hard to keep track of where you have been on your body.
PS The Gilette Venus Silk-Expert hair removal system came with a bonus facial cleansing device; perfect for cleansing before a session.

Liked big the results

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have used the silk expert on several different places over the last few weeks. I have tried my under arms, stomach, and legs. Having done professional laser hair removal I can say this is not as painful or jolting. I have noticed on my stomach area that it has been a while since I have noticed hair growing back. I am super excited about that. I need to continue to use on my underarms and legs but with more hair being in those areas I foresee it taking.
I was talking with my neighbor as she just started having professional laser hair removal telling her about this Venus silk expert. She was glad to hear there is such a thing and I told her it wasn't has painful as the professional machine may take a little longer but over all I would recommend her trying it.
