Still love it after 5 weeks

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Wanted to do a quick follow up review... I have been using the Venus Silk-Expert IPL for about 5 weeks now. I use it weekly, as per recommended in the instruction manual. Happy to say I am still very positive, and I love it even more now that I can see definitive results! It's such a quick and simple process: I shower, shave, dry off thoroughly, plug in the device, and go to town. I treat my forearms, my under arms, my lower legs and my knuckles. I am making myself sound like a hairy beast, but that is not really the case. I have pale skin and black hair, so I am quite conscious of it. And I hate that gray cast I can see under the skin, sometimes even after shaving. The IPL light technology adjusts perfectly to my skin tone and zaps those follicles! The hair has grown back SO much slower, finer and more sparsely. And no more gray dots under the skin, where the hair's root is. I was sitting on the couch last night and my husband stroked my arm. He did a double take and said "Smooth!". And he is not the type to typically comment like that. I just smiled to myself, a happy little secret. I will certainly continue to use the machine and expect I will have even more complete results in time. Sorry Med Spa, don't need you anymore for laser hair removal. Dr. Gillette Venus Silk-Expert is my new go-to.

Wow! That was easy!

My first impression when I opened the box from Venus/Braun was what a beautiful and high quality looking item. The unit is sturdy, but not too heavy. The instructions were clear and worth reading thoroughly. I could not wait to give this product a try, but was nervous about the pain factor. I put the baby to bed and carved out some time to shower and have 'me time'. First of all, it was quick to plug in and start up. No wait time. Just go! The name may be Intense Pulse Light , but the pain was not intense at all. I started on the gentlest setting, but will move on to the next setting for my next session. I quickly moved from area to area. I liked the 'glide' feature, which felt like shaving with the light. I treated my lower legs, underarm, neckline, and stomach in about 30 minutes. Speaking of the light that was tricky to get used to. They instruct to look away, but I did not at first, and it is intense and I kept seeing that flash in front of my eyes. It is also hard to keep track of where you have been on your body.
PS The Gilette Venus Silk-Expert hair removal system came with a bonus facial cleansing device; perfect for cleansing before a session.

Liked big the results

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have used the silk expert on several different places over the last few weeks. I have tried my under arms, stomach, and legs. Having done professional laser hair removal I can say this is not as painful or jolting. I have noticed on my stomach area that it has been a while since I have noticed hair growing back. I am super excited about that. I need to continue to use on my underarms and legs but with more hair being in those areas I foresee it taking.
I was talking with my neighbor as she just started having professional laser hair removal telling her about this Venus silk expert. She was glad to hear there is such a thing and I told her it wasn't has painful as the professional machine may take a little longer but over all I would recommend her trying it.

So far, so in love!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I think I'm in love! I have been using this product free from Braun in exchange for my honest opinion. It's been over 8 weeks since I first began using the Braun Venus silk-expert. I have had significant reduction in hair growth on both of my legs. Before beginning this product, I was shaving daily. I have very pale skin and very dark brown hair. I shaved constantly. Now, after more than 8 weeks of using the Silk-expert, I am only having to shave once a week and the hair is very light. Minimal growth. I still notice some patchy spots where it has been difficult to remember to match up my strokes but still not that noticeable. I can't wait to see how my legs look after the recommended 12 weeks.

Tried it out right away

This came in the mail just yesterday, 8/2/16. I watched several videos of how to operate the device and wasn't sure I really had a complete handle on the process until I got it out and tested it on my inner arm. Understanding the safety lights on the side and how to position the gun is key to using this quickly.
It works like this: first, shave the area you want to treat. Then use the gun to fire the laser light over the shaved area. Treat once a week for 12 weeks, and you'll see a reduction in hair growth, possibly permanent.
When I plugged it in, I noticed that it has a cooling vent and a fan inside that starts up as soon as the power is connected. There are two buttons on top of the gun: the larger one turns on the laser, and the second one has an icon of a feather on it. This is "gentle" mode. The difference that I noticed between the two is that "gentle" mode doesn't feel quite as hot as the regular mode.
When I say the light feels hot, it doesn't burn, but it is noticeable and a little uncomfortable at first. It kind of feels like setting a laptop on your lap and needing to move it because it's overheated. I set it to gentle mode and will probably work my way up to regular intensity over time.
This device can tell if you've positioned it correctly over your skin, and if the patch of skin you're trying to treat is an ideal color for the laser to work properly. Lights on the side of the gun turn red if you don't have a good seal (for safety purposes), and they turn white and light up incrementally the better the seal and the lighter your skin tone.
You can use it in "burst" mode, where you hold it down, then press the button once. That works great for armpits or smaller areas. There's also "glide" mode, where you hold down the gun and hold down the button, then slide it around until the next flash of light. Obviously you can't see the laser itself, but you do see a red flash and hear a "click" whenever the light goes off. I tried not to look into the flash too much.
I treated both of my legs last night in about 15 minutes. I used a concealer pencil to mark the width of the gun on my leg to create a guide, started at my ankles, and worked my way up. The concealer helps a lot.
So far, it's very easy to use! I'm interested to see how my hair growth changes over the next 12 weeks.

First time using the Gillette® Venus® Silk-expert

Following the instructions, I shaved my legs (which is something I hate doing, which explains my excitement for this product) and dried them with a towel.
I have gone through laser treatments before so knew what to expect as far as pain. The Gillette® Venus® Silk-expert did not hurt at all! I felt a very mild snap, some areas are obviously worse than the others so using the sensitive mode in these areas helps a lot.
The treatment didn't take very long and the gliding mode is great.
My only issue is that there's no good way of knowing what areas I've already gone through. I am considering using a white makeup pencil to mark sections on my legs and allow me to track the areas i've already treated.
Looking forward to the next treatment!

Venus Silk Expert is out of this world!!!

I've been using it for eight weeks now and I am happy to say that I can go a week without shaving and only have some light stubble when I do! It is so easy to do and it is very convenient that you only need to use it once a week in order to see great results! With continued use over the next month or so, I can tell already that soon I won't have to shave anymore! (OK, maybe occasionally but that's way better than shaving every other day!) I'm very excited about that. It's also pain-free which makes the treatments a breeze! Thanks Braun!

I am not hair free but I am shaving less and the hair seems to be thinner. I would definitely recommend this product I love it!
