[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the door within a door, this little piece broke and the door would no longer close. I think they need to rethink how this is made we haven’t had the refrigerator a whole year and it broke fairly easily. I would strongly recommend getting the extended warranty.

The good, love the outer fridge door for easy access to frequently use items, the craft ice maker and how well the front cleans up. I also appreciate LG's quick response when one of the freezer shelves broke. A few design problems. The water dispenses one cool glass of water and then tap temperature, doors slam shut unless opened all of the way, drawer handles are below the drawers requiring bending over too far, drawers will only open when the door is all the way open past 90 degrees (photo), craft ice maker drawer does not have a stop so it can fall out if you aren't careful and the door fronts are not flat (photo). I also haven't been able to use the Thin Q features because he fridge can't seem to stay connected to WiFi but I don't really care about that.

We are so happy with this product. We’ve always had a freezer at the bottom. A side by side makes locating items so much easier. An unexpected treat is the craft ice system. It has great options for size and style of ice. The drinking water outlet has a UV light that turns on for 10 min’s every hour to keep itself clean. A great feature, but the best in my opinion is the door in door. Being in a hot climate, the family members are constantly opening the door looking for a cool drink ( let’s the warm air in and the cool air out.) The small door opens to 3 large drink shelves. It’s easy and quick to get a drink, and best of all it needs very little energy to keep itself at its temperature settings.

I love everything about this refrigerator. The craft ice balls are really fun. The door-in-door feature is convenient. I would give it a perfect score if the door didn’t break after just one month. I’m the only one opening the door, so it’s not like I have kids or family opening and closing it constantly. In addition, the door literally wouldn’t latch, so for a week, until a tech could come out, I had to keep the door taped shut. A refrigerator with great features, but I am seriously suspect of it’s quality.

We bought this refrigerator during height of COVID when our older model had to be replaced. Choices among refrigerators with large capacity - that were available for immediate delivery - were limited in our part of Maryland. This LG Side by Side looked like a good choice. It has plenty of refrigeration and freezer space, Temperature control is consistent and electronic settings and ThinQ technology are convenient and work well. We liked the fact that it didn't have protruding door handles - gave it a very clean look. The stainless finish cleans very easily with just a damp cloth. We weren't looking for the door-in-door feature and, frankly, don't use it. For someone with younger children it likely would be a benefit.
We've has two issues with this LG LRSDS706S: both with the ice making functions. It came with a craft Ice maker - not a feature we sought. It's a nice feature but we've had to have it replaced twice because it wouldn't work properly. It made extremely loud clanking and banging noises when it was dispensing ice into the holding bin. Eventually it stopped making ice. There's clearly a design/quality control issue here. Both replacements were covered by warranty but it took several weeks each time to get the replacement part. We've also had an issue with the standard ice maker. Ice cubes in the hopper often freeze together and won't dispense from the in-door water/ice dispenser. We have to remove the hopper, loosen the ice and put the hopper back in the door. It's not a major issue but certainly is an inconvenience and seems to be a manufacturing/design issue that LG needs to correct.
We would not recommend this particular LG model based on the issues with the ice making functions, but have other LG appliances that have met or exceeded all our expectations.

We bought this at the end of October 2022 and had to wait until more of them were in stock. It was delivered in December. The refrigerator was a great selection! The features are all very good and it has worked well. The craft ice is a nice feature, and those ice balls will last all day in our water cups. The only issue is that the half fridge door will not close on its own by letting it go. You have to physically close the door as it is not heavy enough to close by itself. Not really a big issue but it is something we have had to get used to doing. Overall, I would recommend the fridge!
