[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] What I like: 1) Screen size is perfect, not too big and not too small. 2) Dimensions of the laptop are great, nice and compact. It looks sleek but the specs pack a punch. 3) Material and construction of the computer seems sturdy. The keys feel great when you type - not flimsy or cheap - its a nice crisp feeling when you press each key. 4) Webcam privacy slide - I dont have to put a sticky note over the webcam anymore, this laptop comes with a built in slider that covers up the webcam.
What disappointed me: 1) Speakers - Although the laptop is equipped with Dolby Atmos - I find that the speakers make a crackling or popping noise randomly - for example, when certain webpages are loaded up. This is the second laptop i've replaced that had this problem - doing a quick search online shows that this is a common defect. For me, the speakers are an important feature since I do many of my webex/zoom calls using my laptop sound instead of wearing a headset. I think that after spending over $2k I should get a perfect laptop and in this case this defect makes it fall short.

I would recommend this to a friend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Upgrading my X1 Carbon Gen 5, I was already sold on the ports, weight, and keyboard I've come to expect. The addition of Windows Hello is a surprisingly nice quality-of-life change, the speakers are much improved, and the trackpad is a step up from the older one. The matte display lives up to expectations garnered from the 16:10 aspect ratio, but doesn't blow them away - the same can be said for the 720 p camera, which, while better than the Gen 5, seems like an easy place for improvement.
However, using the two side-by-side, what surprises me more than anything is the heat. The Gen 9 has phenomenal heat management, staying cool to the touch in all but the most intensive (gaming only, to date) use cases. If this is going to literally be lap-top, you can't go wrong with the X1 Carbon Gen 9.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love this computer for work. I wholeheartedly recommend this on the basis of a long battery life, great keyboard, and very light.
