[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] the machine is well-built. However, due to the design of the bottom (the rubber), it is not flat, when typing, the laptop shakes which is annoying.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Cruised onto this super fast techno-marvel. It's just amazing and smooth so far. Excellent product. When booted for the first time, it showed my previous laptops dsktop, which was kind of surprising.
Would recommend to my family and friends, and Lenovo laptops are my top choice.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my fourth ThinkPad in 11 years. I'm an independent consultant, and after going through a consumer-grade laptop every year, I wised up and started to buy ThinkPads. In my experience, ThinkPads are very robust and don't break or wear out. I now upgrade every three years.
The Carbon X1 Gen9 is pretty much the identical footprint as the ThinkPad X250 it is replacing (I have been very satisfied with the X250) , but only about half as thick, and one pound lighter. Not only is is slimmer and weights less, it is much more powerful and ready for Windows 11 with a mid-range I7 CPU and 16 GB of memory.
I especially like the reduced weight and thickness, since this makes it easier to carry. Fits into any briefcase easily.
The LCD display is bigger than the X250's display (14 inches compared to 12.5 inches), beautiful, and pretty easy on my aging eyes.
I haven't timed it, but battery life has been very good as well.
An excellent feature is the inclusion of both USB 3 and USB-C ports. I have several USB peripherals (printers, scanners, and the like) and everything I have tested so far works fine.
The USB-C charging is another excellent feature. You can charge the laptop from a power bank (a big one!). I purchased the optional USB-C Gallium Adaptor, and it is only able twice the size of my Samsung phone charger. Lenevo should include this charger with the laptop; I won't care if it cost a few dollars more. The small charger charges my phone as well, and works with the small USB-C travel hub that has Ethernet, VGA, HDMI, and USB ports (you plug the AC charger into the hub, and the hub's attached cable into the laptop's USB-C charging socket).
Also has a full-size HDMI port.
The two negatives are:
1. There is no Ethernet port. Lenevo's Ethernet-to-USB dongle fixes that. The dongle is quite small and portable; I just leave it attached to my network cable and put the whole thing in a pocket of my briefcase.
2. The keys don't have quite the same depth of travel as my previous ThinkPads. It is still a VERY GOOD keyboard, but not a GREAT one. Not enough difference to rule out this laptop; but noticeable. If it was any other brand you might not even notice.
I would recommend the Carbon X1 Gen 9.to executives who want a slim, light, powerful business laptop with a nice screen and loads of ports.
It's only been a few weeks, but so far so good. I hope -- and expect -- to get the same reliability and long life from this ThinkPad as my previous models.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Tried all the other models but the x1 carbon is best for business use, light, packed with features and hardly ever breaks down!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have always loved Lenovo products and this is my 3rd X1. Super happy with the performance and love the keyboard and lightweight machine.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is an outstanding machine that exceeded my expectations. Lightweight, powerful, and quiet on lower power usage settings. I bought this for research in linguistics and teaching\conferences and it fulfills all those needs well.
