Grass grew fast.

Great for major lawn replacement

I used scotts sun and shade with water smart mix two years ago to completely redo my front lawn which was destroyed by an unusually hot spell during the summer of that year. This part of the lawn must endure complete sun exposure from 11AM to 5PM. I did this work in late September.
The following year saw a fairly well established lawn with a few bare spots. I applied more seed (which I had leftover) to the more visable bare spots in the early fall. I followed that in early December with an application of Scotts wintergaurd.
This year I applied Scotts with Halts in mid March. The lawn has flourished (it is very thick, more so than ever before during the past fifty years) with no visible bare spots to date.
The following year saw a fairly well established lawn with a few bare spots. I applied more seed (which I had leftover) to the more visable bare spots in the early fall. I followed that in early December with an application of Scotts wintergaurd.
This year I applied Scotts with Halts in mid March. The lawn has flourished (it is very thick, more so than ever before during the past fifty years) with no visible bare spots to date.
Pros: Easy to Use
I would recommend this to a friend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We had some bare spots in our lawn. Since I always use Miracle Grow Products, I decided to try their Grass Seed. As usual it was outstanding. I found it very easy to use. It germinated quickly. It is filling in the bare spots as I hoped it would. I love Miracle Grow Products!

Sun and shape seed

This is the first product that I can say that doesn't work. Cannot get it to grow. I've been growing grass on the Cape for over 35 years years. Will never purchase this again. Don't know if it was just a bad batch. I bought the best and got the worst result !!!
Cons: Didn't work as expected
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Easy to use and very effective on my lawn

Took a chance with this product and it absolutely has paid off. My lawn is now very plush in areas that had been difficult to grow anything except weeds. A combination of this product along with the Scott's crabgrass and dandelion eliminator has made our lawn explode. Definitely worth using this on your lawn.

Grows well if soil stays moist.

This product must stay moist for the seed to grow. In the hot, dry southwest, it took a lot of watering to grow these seeds. The first 2 plantings did not work very well due to not enough watering. If you have the time and energy to water frequently, I recommend this product.

We are sorry that you have experienced problems while using Scotts Turf Builder Grass Seed Sun & Shade Mix. Water is an important factor in successful seeding. The newly seeded areas must be kept constantly moist for weeks on end. Allowing the soil to dry out even for an hour during the critical germination phase can result in seedling death. This may require that you give the seeded areas a light watering two to three times a day for the first few weeks. After that, you will still need to keep the seedlings watered on a regular basis. The soil should feel moist like a wrung out sponge.
Two "enemies" of newly seeded lawns are herbicides and lawn diseases. While you have very little control over the outbreak of a lawn disease, do make sure that no weed control or weed prevention chemical has been used in the area, as those products will also prevent or inhibit germination. When used on newly germinated lawns, herbicides will kill off the new grass.
