[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this to grow grass in a lot of places: a very large area where my 24 foot round pool was & it grew in fantastic! Also between the sidewalk & the street where everyone else on my street had a problem growing their grass & I didn't!! I told them it was because I used Scotts... I had a dog & used it in many other places in my yard as I have 6500 square feet of just grass.. I am a huge promoter of all your products... I use the Halts crabgrass treatment, weed & feed turf builder 2, summer guard, fall guard & winter guard... I get a lot of compliments on my green grass!!!
Pros: Value, Quality, Easy to Use, Good Directions, Effective
I would recommend this to a friend!

We apologize for the lack of results from using our product. Going through the effort of preparing and reseeding an area only to have disappointing results is certainly frustrating. We have sent your comments as well as comments from other reviewers to our Quality Assurance Department to investigate any issues. We also have some seeding tips to offer that have been helpful to some of our consumers.
It's important for the seeds to be in direct contact with the soil. When overseeding, this may mean having to rake over the seeded area or lay down a thin layer of top soil. Soil temperatures should be at least 55 degrees for proper germination and using most herbicides or weed controls can interfere with the new growth.
We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. At your earliest convenience, please contact us to see what can be done. You may visit our contact page by clicking on the following link: http://tinyurl.com/7ag7a3n

Extremely Disappointed

I have been using Scott's fertilizer the last couple of years to take care of my lawn . I've always been happy with the fertilizer so I just imagined all of the products would be equal in quality. I bought mulch for my beds and was disappointed that it was chock full of large wood chips. I ended up purchasing mulch this year from a local dealer. I used the topsoil that Scott's produced and was also disappointed in that contained some sticks and debris in it. I ended up purchasing local top soil that was sold in my local Home Depot for half the price and the quality was much better. Never the less I didn't invest a lot of money in these products so I wasn't too sour. In addition I figured that Scott's was most known for its fertilizer and seed so i didn't think the poor quality of the other products would carry over. The last couple of years i had bought bags of seed that my landscaper used when they were intalling some hardscapes at my house. When I patched and overseeded my lawn this year I purchased a 40lb bag of sun and shade mix from Home Depot. I did I what I always have done in prepping the area and raking in the seed and keeping them moist. I have to say that I've been very unhappy with the results. There is a low percentage of seeds germinating than I have seen in the past and I'm upset that I've paid or wasted $100 on this product. I think next time I will find another brand and try it because as of now, Scott's wasn't the $100 that I paid.
Cons: Didn't work as expected

We’re sorry to hear about your disappointment with several of our Scotts products. The Turf Builder Sun & Shade Mix does contain a variety of seeds that develop at different rates and may explain why grass blades are growing sparsely. Please contact us if you have any further questions. Regardless, your satisfaction is our primary concern and we offer a product guarantee. If you have any questions, please contact us. http://tinyurl.com/6qwd44t

Had to seed a large portion of yard. Used this product because I have a lot of shade in some areas and sun in others. Grass germinated well and grew in most locations. A few locations needed a 2nd and 3rd seeding to take over well.
Pros: Quality, Easy to Use, Effective
I would recommend this to a friend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Scott's Turf Builder Grass Seed Sun and Shade Mix is pretty average, but gets the job done for the price.
