[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had many spots by house and near woods. I planted seeds as directed and with a little watering each day for a few weeks, I have beautiful grass. All the spots filled in and it even came up in parts of yard with very little sun. This is my first time ,trying to grow grass and it was so easy. I never had any luck with other products. Thank you Scotts!!!
Pros: Easy to Use, Effective, Good Directions, Value, great for someone who has never planted seeds

Shady grass

I have a large backyard that is perfect for entertaining but the ground stayed bare because it was surrounded with huge shade trees. After trying endless types of seeds this one finally stuck and I now have a full carpet looking lawn under a nice shade.
The grass stays full and colorful and I am no longer embarrassed at the thought of setting my lawn chairs under the shade of the trees

I use nothing but Scotts products and get compliments on my lawn all summer.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used cheaper lawn products and started getting weeds and brown patches when I switched to all Scotts products my lawn is beautiful and get compliments from everybody that sees it. I've also heard my lawn is the best in my town too. Thank you Scotts!!

Scotts turf builder grass seed

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After seeding a bare spot area in my yard with this product, I wondered if it would fail to grow like past attempts with other grass seed. I was happy that this seed did as promised. I watered daily for 2 weeks and the area is now full of grass.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Scott's grass 'sun & shade" seed has been the most successful brand of grass seed for a very difficult area of my lawn that does not receive very much sunshine and usually remains bare every year, but since using Scott's brand......this product produced grass and it was heavy, thick beautiful grass. I was very happy with the results and you should be too.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have used the Scott's Turf Builder in my yard in Central Florida, where there is an abundance of sunshine. It makes my grass tougher and able to withstand the hot summers in Florida. The grass in this region needs help due to the dry months and this product gives me a fuller grassy lawn and that extra boost to make my lawn green year round.

I purchased both a three pound bag and a 7 pound bag. After I saw no results a week after I purchased the 3 lb bag, I purchased a 7 pound bag. No germination after 5 weeks. The blue seeds are still lying on the areas I prepared to reseed. I followed directions on the bag and at this site. I watered every day that it did not rain.
I've done this before over the years, but this is the first grass seed I've used that failed to produce.
Absolutely no results.
Cons: Didn't work as expected, absolutely no results
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This particular product usually has a lot of success stories from users, but it is helpful when we get reviews like yours to help us produce quality seed. Here are a few tips to consider when growing in the future. For Cool Season grasses like Bluegrass, Ryegrass, and different types of Fescues soil temperatures must be at least 55 degrees (+12.7 Celsius) for grass seed to germinate and can take between 4 -21 days to see germination. Warm season grasses like Bermudagrass, Centipede and Zoysia, which germinates in early summer, requires soil temperatures between 75 - 90 degrees (24 - 32 Celsius) and can take between 5-28 days to see visible germination. Watering also plays a defining factor in germination. We recommend watering 1-2 times a day until germination is visible and then watering 1- 1 ½” per week as needed. Both excessive watering and not enough watering can slow down or even stop germination of the product.
