[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have used this product for several spring seasons and have found this product to work very well. The grass that grows is thick and deep green and comes up fairly quickly. We had taken down our above ground pool several years ago and this product stood up to it's claim. and the job was a hard one to fill let me tell you. The area we needed new grass for was to fill the area left from a 15x30 ft. pool. After two seasons the area was green and full. I would recommend this product.
Pros: Easy to Use, Effective
Cons: two seasons to complete

Germination rate no better than competitors.

I've tried several brands for spot and overseeding and have not found Scotts to be superior. Time of application, watering, depth of seed all result in the same germination rate among companies I've used.
Cons: Didn't work as expected

We are sorry to hear that you experienced disappointment with the performance of this seed. Temperature plays a critical role in seedling germination. Soil temperatures for this particular product must be at least 55° F for the seed to germinate. For best results, daytime temperatures must typically be in the 60-80°F range and not going below 50°F at night. Seeds will not germinate if the temperatures are cold at night, or are fluctuating from high day temperature to very low night time temperatures. We want you to be confident in our products, this is why we offer a product guarantee. Last year I had a bad year with snow mold and a Large portion of my grass in the front and back was dead and looked TERRIBLE!!! I used Scott's Grass Seed and within a few weeks the grass came back and my lawn looked Beautiful. Kudos to this product and the Company that produced it....

Good grass seed - even in shady areas

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a good grass seed - especially for extreme conditions such as shady areas & extreme sun & heat. I am very happy with the results. Be sure to follow the directions & keep it moist daily (not too much water) - at least until the seeds germinate, then monitor watering depending on the weather.
Pros: Effective

Almost satisfied

I did my research and prepped my yard, using Scott's starter top soil, applied the seed according to the label and added Scott's new grass starter food. The seed germinated but is rather patchy in some areas, also the grass is very flimsy and lays flat is stepped on. My biggest complaint would be that no matter what time of the day, even when the grass is completely dry, there is flat tire marks after mowing. The grass seems to just stay that way until the next mowing.
Pros: Easy to Use
Cons: flimsy grass

Grass WILL grow in that section of my yard!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Have a section of my yard that's between the road and sidewalk, under a large maple tree. The grass has never been much better than patchy there. I had some soil leftover from a project in the back yard so i wheelbarrow-ed it up front and spread it out in this area. Loaded up my Scotts spreader with some Turf Builder Sun & Shade grass seed and started spreadin'. Came out of the spreader really nicely, since the setting was right on the bag. Followed the directions, kept everything moist, and in no time i was seeing grass shoots. Really looking forward to seeing how it looks in the spring and being able to actually mow something other than weeds in this spot.
Pros: Easy to Use, Effective, Good Directions, Quality
