This product produced the worst results of any product I have ever used on the lawn. The results were highly inconsistent. The best patches are very thin and some areas are still bare.
Cons: Didn't work as expected
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We are sorry that you have had problems while using Scotts Turf Builder Grass Seed Sun & Shade Mix. Generally, we recommend seeding in early autumn when soil temperatures are still warm and there is no danger of frost for at least a month.
Temperature plays a critical role in seedling germination. Soil temperatures must be at least 55 degrees and no warmer than 75 degrees for your seed to germinate. If you sow your seed when the soil temperature is too hot or too cold, the seed will wait until ideal conditions are present. As long as you do not experience a sudden change in temperature after germination begins, you could still experience the great results you expected from our seed.
One major "enemy" of a newly seeded lawn is herbicide. Make sure that no weed control or weed prevention product has been used in the area, as those products will also prevent or inhibit germination. When used on newly germinated lawns, herbicides will kill off the new grass.
We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. At your earliest convenience please contact us to see what can be done. You may visit our contact page by clicking on the following link http://tinyurl.com/7ag7a3n

Followed directions to a T and the seed does not germinate even after 8 days. Lots of money for a terrible product. Just buy sod and save the time and money.

I am sorry that you have experienced problems while using Scotts Turf Builder Grass Seed Sun & Shade Mix. It is certainly frustrating to go to the work of reseeding an area, only to have the results less than satisfactory. Undoubtedly you will be doing reseeding projects in the future, and I just want to give you a few tips that have been helpful to some of our consumers.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This spring I used Scotts Turf Builder Grass Seed & Shade Mix on several areas on my lawn that were thin after last season. The results are truly outstanding. I highly recommend this product to anyone. Growing grass is not rocket science by any means - it just takes some patience and keeping the seed moist until it germinates and takes root.
Pros: Easy to Use, Effective, Good Directions, Quality, Value
I would recommend this to a friend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I fertilized my lawn then threw down some of the Scotts Turf Builder grass seed on most of the bare spots and I can't wait to see it fill in like it has in years past!! I've been using Scotts products for years and when we have a bad Winter like we had this year in the Northeast I always get some pretty bad bare spots from where the plow plowed the snow on the side of my yard. I usually don't worry to much about it though cause I know after I use Scotts fertilizer and Turf Builder Grass Seed it looks like it was just planted this year like when I first moved here 25 years ago!! My entire family has been using Scott's lawn products for years and we fully trust them for all our lawn care uses.
Pros: Value, Quality, Easy to Use, Good Directions, Effective, great growth!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this product because I had to redo the entire lawn from scratch because of the oil tank removal. The area that I wanted covered with grass is sunny and shady. This was perfect for the area. I spread it out evenly and a lot of the seeds were either eaten by birds or just simply washed away by the rain (slightly slopped area to cover). The second time I spread the seeds around to fill in areas that didn't take. The grass grew in beautifully. I will definitely spread a little more seeds down in the spring time to get all of the areas filled with grass. The product is very pricey.
Pros: Easy to Use
Cons: birds will eat the seeds
I would recommend this to a friend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] All I use is Scotts Lawn Care products on my lawn. Grass seed has fast germination time when used as directed. Fertiilzers ate excellent and bring great results for a nice green thick lawn. Lawn gets stronger every year and looks great after thus harsh New England winter.
Pros: Value, Quality, Easy to Use, Good Directions, Effective
