[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had an area on the side of my driveway that I can't seem to get grass to grow so i used this. It has only been a couole of weeks but I can see tiny grass sprouts growing. I'm so excited to see my problem may be solved.

Terrible results with this grass seed
on July 8, 2023

Put the seed down, watered every day and have only small spots of grass growing. this is terrible seed. I am going to ask for a refund. so disappointing after all the work to prepare areas, not to mention my water bill.

We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Scotts Turf Builder Sun & Shade and appreciate your feedback.
You should start seeing germination in 6-14 days under ideal growing conditions, but will take about a month for all the seed to germinate. We recommend mowing the grass short and rake or de-thatch the area to remove dead grass and loosen exposed soil prior to applying. This Grass Seed will germinate best when temperatures are consistently in the 65-80-degree F range. Weed control used prior to seeding will prevent seed from germinating.

Good Green Grass in Sun and Shade
on September 12, 2023

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This product grew very well for me and has survived a very inconsistent rain schedule, as I am not committed to watering my lawn once it is established. I am very pleased with the results. I took the time to prepare the soil according to directions and watered it until established.

We're sorry to read that Scotts Turf Builder Sun & Shade PhysBlend Mix didn't meet your expectations and appreciate your feedback.
This grass seed will germinate best when temperatures are consistently in the 65-80 degree F range. Cool nighttime temperatures and fluctuating temperatures will slow germination. Both excessive moisture and not enough moisture can inhibit seed germination.

Bought a bag to fill in some bare spots in my front yard. I scratched up the areas and laid down the seed. I covered it with a thin layer of top soil and watered the lawn. We also had ample natural rainfall for about a week and a half after that. I've planted grass like this many times and had great results. For some reason, this time very little grass actually came up.
Cons: Didn't work as expected
Response from ScottsBy James, Scotts Consumer Services, June 10, 2016
We apologize that the seed you planted did not have satisfactory growth. It is a frustrating experience to prepare an area for reseeding only to not have the grass come up as planned. We do have some tips to offer that have been helpful to some of our consumers in the past. Top soil is important and having that thin layer of the soil on top of the seed is an excellent step to take in growing seed, but make sure to not make this layer more than 1/4 inch thick or it can smother the new seeds. Temperature is also important as this particular variety of seed requires soil temperatures of at least 55 degrees to germinate properly, and using a weed control can interfere with germination as well.
We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. At your earliest convenience, we ask that you please contact us so that we can discuss the issue and our guarantee in further detail. In the Fall my neighbor across the street was out with his dog he asked if he could walk on my lawn. I said why ? He said it looked like carpeting . I said Wow , Sure! Even my next door neighbor, Asked What do you do to your lawn that makes it look so nice ! I said"TRADE SECRET" LOL P.S. They were mean people !
Pros: Easy to Use, Effective, Good Directions, Value, Quality
Cons: none

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Maine has very rough winters. We can't wait for spring to come. As soon as the snow melts I rake the yard picking up pine cones and branches and rake up all of the leaves. I then take my Scott's waking seed spreader and do a over seed with Scott's grass seed. I then spread with my Scott's push spreader and lay down my spring Scott's turf builder. I like getting a early start on this as soon as the snow has melted and the frost is out of the ground. Now I can just set back and wait while Mother Nature takes over watering the lawn . While waiting I will get the snowblower off the tractor and put the mowing decting on hoping that green grass will be here soon.
Pros: Value, Quality, Easy to Use, Effective, great results
