Beautiful backyard - waiting patiently for front
on October 16, 2024

Mid summer I planted a new lawn in back of house and it came in thick and lush with no problems in about 10-15 days. Early fall I planted the front area and I’m still waiting for one blade! I followed the same procedure I used on back. The only difference was newly purchased bags of seed. Is it possible the seed was compromised? I am using sun & shade.

I bought this grass and seeded it today. When do you think it will start to show growth. What's the best way to keep my dogs off it? If they get on it will it ruin it?

Too late in the season to comment

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Only one start because I selected the product several weeks ago on the web page. It arrived a few days ago and here in the northeast we're past foliage and temperatures are approaching freezing at night. I hope to be able to report in early spring. Looking forward to seeing some lush green.

40 lbs applied to less than 3,000 sq feet. Zero grass. loosened up top half inch of soil, put down 20 lbs, watered daily. week later, another 20 lbs. kept watering daily. 15 minute here, and there. 4 weeks later. NO GRASS ANYWHERE.

We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Scotts Turf Builder Grass Seed Sun & Shade Mix and appreciate your feedback.
In the spring it takes a lot of consistent warm temperatures to warm up the soil, especially in the northern states. Cool night-time temperatures and fluctuating temperatures will slow germination. For this grass seed mix, soil temperatures must be at least 55 degrees for germination. This generally requires daytime temperatures consistently in the 65+ degrees range.
We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. At your earliest convenience, please reach out to us at 888-270-3714 if we can further assist.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have three little dogs that love to run up and down the fence line producing a wear path that's always been a challenge. Put this down in the spring with normal rainy periods and it's working like a charm. Only a little reseeding because of the consistent traffic pattern. Thanks for such a great product.
Pros: Easy to Use, Effective, Good Directions, Value
I would recommend this to a friend!

only good in shade

I bought this a while ago. Put it down with some top soil. It started growing, some areas very patchy. Gave up at the back of the yard. It is very high demand for water. We went away for for a week, came home to brown dead grass in areas of full sun. Area that recieved a lot of shade still looked green. Still brown after watering daily now for a week. Given up. Would not recomend for anyone in high sun states.

No good

This is the worst seed I have ever used. I have gone through 2 bags of it just doing a few small patches, because I've had to re-seed three times over the period of the last 3 months because it just is not doing anything. The little bit that did sprout, quickly died. I have had better luck with generic seed at 1/3 the price.
