[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wanted Scott's cause I thought it was the best... But I was very disappointed. I had large patches of no grass even though I raked up the ground first... Planted the seed and watered well each day when it was dry!
Cons: Didn't work as expected
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

No grass for me.

My yard had been neglected last spring because I was deployed overseas. This year, I decided that I would stick exclusively with Scotts brand products. I am very happy with the Halts and Weed/Feed products that I have applied to the remainder of my yard, but I am not at all happy with the grass seed I purchased to help fill in an area near my patio. I don't think one seed germinated.
I raked the area to make sure the seed would be in contact with the soil. I applied starter fertilizer and kept the Halts crabgrass preventer clear of the area I was planting new seed, but no luck.
Pros: Easy to Use, Good Directions, Quality
Cons: Didn't work as expected

We apologize for the inconvenience you’ve experienced when using the product. This particular product usually has a lot of success stories from users, but it is helpful when we get reviews like yours to help us produce quality product. For Cool Season grasses like Bluegrass, Ryegrass, and different types of Fescues soil temperatures must be at least 55 degrees (+12.7 Celsius) for grass seed to germinate and can take between 4 -21 days to see germination. Warm season grasses like Bermudagrass, Centipede and Zoysia, which germinates in early summer, requires soil temperatures between 75 - 90 degrees (24 - 32 Celsius) and can take between 5-28 days to see visible germination. Watering also plays a defining factor in germination. We recommend watering 1-2 times a day until germination is visible and then watering 1- 1 ½” per week as needed. Both excessive watering and not enough watering can slow down or even stop germination of the product. If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to contact us at INSERT LINK and one of our representatives would be glad to assist you. We hope this issue has not caused you to lose faith in our product, as we use reviews like yours to maintain and improve the quality product that you and other consumers have come to know and love.

We are sorry that you have had problems while using Scotts Turf Builder Grass Seed Sun & Shade Mix. Temperature plays a critical role in seedling germination. Soil temperatures must be at least 55 degrees and no warmer than 75 degrees for your seed to germinate. If you sow your seed when the soil temperature is too hot or too cold, the seed will wait until ideal conditions are present. As long as you do not experience a sudden change in temperature after germination begins, you could still experience the great results you expected from our seed.

One major "enemy" of a newly seeded lawn is herbicide. Make sure that no weed control or weed prevention product has been used in the area, as those products will also prevent or inhibit germination. When used on newly germinated lawns, herbicides will kill off the new grass.

We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. At your earliest convenience please contact us to see what can be done. You may visit our contact page by clicking on the following link http://tinyurl.com/7ag7a3n

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had a lot of bare spots to fill in from a harsh winter. I have used this product in the past and have had very good results. Works great in sun and shade areas due to blend of seed. Germinated quickly around 7 to 10 days and filled in around 3-4 weeks. Follow instructions and you can not go wrong. Make sure you have good soil and use the starter fertilizer for new lawns with weed preventer.
Pros: Easy to Use, Effective, Good Directions, Quality, Value

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We used this on our front lawn to fill in some places that had no grass growing. We loosened the soil and then put down some new dirt and then we put the grass seed on. It started growing within a week and then it filled in. The lawn looked great after that. I would use this grass seed again.
Pros: Easy to Use, Effective, Good Directions, Value, Quality, quick growing
I would recommend this to a friend!
