The ideal seed for a vigorous lawn

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The south side of my front lawn is shaded by my neighbor's tall oak trees. I have trouble maintaining grass in the shade of those trees because my lawn is primarily tall fescue. I decided to plant Scotts Turf Builder Grass Seed Sun & Shade mix (exactly as instructed), and I now have grass that has held up to the limited sunlight of this area. I have also been over seeding my entire lawn with this seed, and the results are impressive; the grass from this seed spreads to fill in bare spots. I particularly like the fact that, for all intents and purposes, it produces weed-free growth. This is a great product and well worth the money. I will be buying more in the Spring to repair my lawn from the Winter ravages.
Pros: Easy to Use, Effective, Good Directions, Value, Quality

Horrible product

This is the worst grass seed we have ever purchased! Since we live in a rural area surrounded by large trees we decided to purchase this specific product because it was ideal for sun and shade. We seeded, put straw over it, and watered it. It was slow to start, then took off after a couple weeks. We now have a very patchy yard and a lot of weeds. I do not recommend this product for anyone that actually wants a yard that fills in and looks nice...unless you prefer weeds. We will go back to buying our off brand seed.
Cons: Didn't work as expected

We're saddened to hear that weeds grew where you applied the product. Our grass seed is filtered 3 times to ensure that it is 99.9% weed seed free. Most of the time when this occurs, it is because the weed seeds were dormant buried deep into the soil from weeds that were present in that area of the lawn previously. Activities such as tilling the soil to prepare it for new grass seed can bring these seeds close enough to the surface to be able to germinate.
We want you to feel confident in our products, and for that reason we offer a product guarantee to our customers. I needed to replant grass in a 20'X30' area and this product worked great. I planted in June and grass started coming up in 2 weeks. Used a spreader to seed the area.

We're sorry that you were disappointed in the results you had with your Sun and Shade Grass Seed. Unfortunately, seed does need a substantial amount of moisture in order to ensure germination. Did you see sufficient germination with the seed? We would like the opportunity to speak with you further about your specific situation. Please reach out to us at your convenience.
