Got a bag of this crap. It grow but only about 50% germination, and what did grow is angle hair and dying . Water every day . In reality good top dirt . In the shade and sun. Now I have to reseed with a different seed for someone else. That's all it take for us to never use Scott's again.

We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Turf Builder Grass Seed Sun & Shade Mix and appreciate your feedback.
For cool season grasses (Bluegrass, Ryegrass, and Fescue), soil temperatures must be at least 55 degrees (+12.7 Celsius) for grass seed to germinate. Soil temperatures must be at least 55 degrees (+12.7 Celsius) for grass seed to germinate. The warmer the soil, the faster the germination. This generally requires daytime temperatures consistently in the 65+ degrees (18.3 Celsius) range. Cool nighttime temperatures and fluctuating temperatures will slow germination.
Both excessive moisture and not enough moisture can inhibit seed germination. We recommend watering 1-2 times per day to keep the seeds moist, until seed germinates. Then, we recommend watering about 1-1 1/2" per week as needed.

Brought the summer guard application and had nothing but weeds and dead grass, this after applying the right amount of water. Used Scott’s products for over 30 years, (suggested my sons use it as well, not anymore, CS wanted nothing to do with me and my complaints.

This grass seed will germinate best when temperatures are consistently in the 65-80 degree F range. Cool nighttime temperatures and fluctuating temperatures will slow germination. Both excessive moisture and not enough moisture can inhibit seed germination.

I decided to save money and stop paying fertilizer companies to do a nominal job of caring for my yard. I am so glad I switched. I am saving money and my lawn is looking amazing.

SO Sad
on August 30, 2021
Posted by: kwinkle
We had a very large tree fall in our yard and after only 12 hours or so, areas of the grass were patchy. Of course it got worse when the tree removers finished. We raked up the areas and put down Scotts (coated) Grass Seed for Sun & Shade and watered, watered watered. It's been two weeks and some of the grass seed has grown. AND so has crab grass and some other plant (green leaves with purplish stems). I have pulled about 100 of these unwanted plants and there are MANY more. :( Beside that, this seed is supposed to grow grass within two weeks and I still have SEVERAL bare spots.
