Horrible tons of crab grass..don't use
on August 11, 2024

There was a ton if crab grass in this mixture and I used there crab grass killer product and it didn't kill any of it. I had some work done at my home and trucks left ruts in my lawn. I filled the rurs with Scott's top soil and then seeded with Scott's. Then I figured I would sprinkle the rest over my lawn. What a mistake, my lawn is now crab grass heaven. I am so missed I did this. I even went back and bought the crab grass killer and nothing. I have pics ..

Summer in the NE and still growing

Later start this year for all outdoor planting. Decided to seed a new lawn the last w/e of June 2018 in Upstate NY (heatwave). Mostly shaded area with some afternoon sun. Knowing it was a bad time of year and very hot I have been watering WELL at LEAST 3x/day. GRASS IS GROWING! Prepped ground by loosening hard soil, added some topsoil and Scotts Turf builder lawn soil, rake out add seed rake gentle lots of water. so far so excellent!

Huge Disappointment...Huge

Used this product by first prepping the area, adding loose black soil, raked in seed mix. Watered religiously. I'm a gardener I know how to plant things. I've got a few grass sprigs after about 4 weeks. I'm so disappointed and have used Scotts products for years. A gardener likes to plant things and watch them grow, this was a huge frustrating disappointment. I"m just going to buy sod and find a new fertilizer for the rest of the lawn.

We are sorry to hear that the Turf Builder Sun and Shade Mix did not germinate. Excessive moisture and not enough moisture can inhibit seed germination. We want you to be confident in our products; therefore, we offer a product guarantee. To receive more details about this, please contact us at http://tinyurl.com/mds8zo5.

Crabgrass

We had some new landscaping done and needed to repair some areas in our lawn. Used this product in all of these areas and now have crabgrass in every single area that we planted the seed. We purchased 2 20lb bags so, not only an unsightly mistake using this product but, a costly one as well. Very disappointed and frustrated.

We are sorry that you have been disappointed by the appearance of weeds in your newly seeded areas. Our seeds are guaranteed to be 99.9% weed-free. Weed seeds are exposed when the soil is turned and will germinate right along with the new seed. Weed seeds may also be introduced to the area through the addition of topsoil or straw. We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. At your earliest convenience, please contact us to see what can be done. Always Grows

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Scott’s seed always grows. It germinates quickly just water as directed. When it fills in it it lush green and thick great for over seeding. To make clean up easier I wear gloves otherwise you do get a bluish film on your hands washes off easily just my choice.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used in an area that is between a house and a drive way that does not receive not much sun light and isn't easy to grow grass . So tried it and it seems a good mix for this area other grass seeds haven't work.

Waste of time and money!

I tilled our lawn and removed the old grass, then spread premium top soil before spreading the seed. It has been getting watered twice a day for the last SEVEN WEEKS! What do I have to show for the expense and effort? Nothing but a few random clumps of grass! I will never purchase another Scott's product! What a scam!

We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Scotts Turf Builder Grass Seed Sun & Shade Mix and appreciate your feedback. For best results, this product should be applied when daytime temperatures are consistently above 65℉, making the soil temperatures at least 55℉. In the spring, it takes a lot of consistent warm temperatures to warm up the soil. Cool nighttime temperatures can delay the germination process even if warm enough during the day. Germination should begin in 6-14 days under ideal growing conditions and will take about a month to fully germinate. Both excessive moisture and not enough moisture can inhibit seed germination. Weed control product used on sew seedlings will kill seedlings. Do not apply a weed control that is registered for lawn use until it has been cut at least 3-4 times. We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. At your earliest convenience, please reach out to us at 888-270-3714 if we can further assist.
