.Grass lays on top of soil

I'm a fussy person that's why I went with the Scotts seed sun/shade. I made sure the dirt was loose then I put down Scotts seed then more than enough dirt to cover the seed. I apply early spring when the lawn gets dew on it, or Fall when the weather get cooler. Problem When grown and you pull out a weed along comes all the grass. The grass lays on top of the soil and the weeds grow right underneath the grass, since the grass isn't attached to the soil. I spoke with other people that used Scotts grass seed they had the same problem. I used Scotts Turf Builder and the Lawn seed feeder. I did find out the solution, I bought some cheap grass seed and I applied it to an area and yea and behold it came up nice and thick. It attaches to the soil and I get close to no weeds. NO MORE SCOTTS PRODUCTS FOR ME!
Cons: Didn't work as expected, poor quality
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We are troubled to hear that you have experienced problems while using Scotts Turf Builder Grass Seed Sun & Shade Mix. It is certainly frustrating to go to the work of reseeding an area, only to have the results less than satisfactory. This is not the experience we want for our consumers.

Two "enemies" of newly seeded lawns are herbicides and lawn diseases. While you have very little control over the outbreak of a lawn disease, do make sure that no weed control or weed prevention chemical has been used in the area, as those products will also prevent or inhibit germination. When used on newly germinated lawns, herbicides will kill off the new grass.

We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. At your earliest convenience please contact us to see what we can do for you. You will find all of our contact information by clicking on the following link http://tinyurl.com/7ag7a3n

The Scott's grass seed that I used was able to grow new grass in an area that has had it's soil compacted, is generally very shady and is in an area that the grass has to to compete with a tree for water. I followed the directions and information provided on the website along with the Scott's starter fertilizer and was able to get good results.
Pros: Value, Quality, Easy to Use, Good Directions, Effective

after 5 weeks no growth disappointment

Dethatched, arriated, fertilized the previous month (no weed killer)added. Watered thoroughly( never dried out over 5 week period. Daytime Temperatures 60 to 70 degrees. No growth at all.
I have always used Scotts products with great success. This time dollars wasted on 20 lb. of grass seed & water. Wasted time & energy. Most of all the anticipation of seeing new grass grown for the Spring not realized. With all the other bad reviews listed expressing the same problem I submit the product is defective. Spring is coming please remove this defective batch of seed from store shelves.
Pros: if the grass did not grow there are no pros.
Cons: Didn't work as expected, did not grow
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Weeds and patches

I cut my sod, put down topsoil, and spread Scotts Sun and Shade. 3 days later i started seeing weeds. Couldn't figure it out. 2 weeks later i have more weeds than grass. There's some bald spots so I put down more Scotts Sun and Shade. Now i know where my weeds (by the foxtail) came from. 3 days later new weeds growing. My yard looks horrible, and I'm stuck with it now until the fall
Cons: Didn't work as expected
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
