I am an avid user of Scott's products and have made many recommendations. Three weeks ago today I put down new top soil in an area that was neglected by not getting enough water. I planted the sun & shade mix, added Scott's starter fertilizer and have been watering it twice a day (with my newly installed in-ground sprinkler system). So far I am very unsatisfied with the results as I need to look very closely for any new blades and they are very limited. I planted some EZ seed I had leftover at the same time and that came in fine. So today I purchased an alternative seed and will re-seed.
Cons: Didn't work as expected
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We're sorry to hear you haven't gotten the results you were expecting. High temperatures and the use of weed controls play a role in germination during this time of year. We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After using Scotts Weed/Feed Fertilizer and then Scotts Grass Seed last year, I did not have good results. Pretty expensive when it doesn't work.! I admit the ground here is pretty bad also, but the ground was moist when both were applied and kept moist throughout the next two weeks. Hummm, the dandelions thrived and the and the chickweed came on strong. I once again applied the weed/feed fertilizer this year and then it rained. While what grass I have grew, so did the dandelions and lots of bare spots. I have not yet applied the seed as the birds will get it before it takes hold. I would not recommend it for MY area.
Pros: Easy to Use, Good Directions
Cons: Didn't work as expected
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We're sorry to hear that you did not get the results that you expected. Keep in mind that Scotts Turf Builder Weed & Feed kills existing weeds in the lawn. It does not prevent new weeds from developing. It's also important not to apply Turf Builder Weed & Feed to new grass until it has been mowed 4 time or not to seed for at least 4 weeks after the application. When the lawn is thin, it will be difficult to keep weeds out. It sounds as if it would be best to work on amending the lawn soil and seeding. Once the grass is established, it will help to keep the weeds out. http://tinyurl.com/q4mgxo2

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased several bags of this seed and planted it in the late Fall. I did not think it would germinate, but it did and I now have a good start for next Sping.
Pros: Easy to Use

An excellent product for reseeding bare spots

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Based on a recommendation of a local landscaper, I used this Scotts product for reseeding areas of my lawns damaged by aggressive crane fly infestation. After treating the lawn to get rid of the crane fly problem, I reseeded following the directions on the package. The grass germinated quickly, filled in the bare spots nicely, and held up well during an unusually hot summer. Now I have to see how it comes back after a very cold and wet winter here in the Pacific Northwest.
Pros: Effective, Value, Quality, germinates quickly
Cons: none

Extremely disappointed in this product

I used this product to re-seed my lawn. I used new loam, Scotts starter fertilizer and three 20 lb. bags of this seed. ($150.00)
After religously watering daily for 24 days, I see about 5% of my lawn area with some growth. It looks like I was fooled by the marketing of this product. I don't plan on buying Scotts seed again.
Pros: Easy to Use
Cons: Didn't work as expected

We are sorry that you have experienced problems while using Scotts Turf Builder Grass Seed Sun & Shade Mix. Generally, we recommend seeding in late spring when temperatures are warm not only during the day, but at night also. If this was planted recently we ask that you give the seed a chance to germinate and grow with warmer temperatures that are coming in the next few weeks. All of products do carry a satisfaction guarantee so if the seed fails to perform please contact us to see what we can do to help. http://tinyurl.com/7ag7a3n

Scott's Used for overseeding

I had a lawn that was installed as sid during may of 2011. The next spring the lawn was half dead. After I aerated the lawn and thatched it with a thatch rake, I used Scott's Sun and Shade Mix asking with Scott's Lawn Soil to overseed my lawn. Within 35 days, my lawn was fully integrated with new beautiful green grass. It was a great success you can see my videos which show how Scitt's actually performed on YouTube under the username shoelesstom. I don't work for Scott's and I had no knowledge on how to grow grass. Scott's made it simple.
Pros: Value, Quality, Easy to Use, Effective

Excellent Results with Scott Grass Seed

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] i have been using the Scott Grass Seed for a number of years and have had phenomenal success. We live on a corner lot and from time to time spots that need touched up arise from the 4-legged visitors or perhaps after a long winter. I put this grass seed down and lightly cover it with grass clippings and keep it moist for a few days. I think every seed germinates and within about four to five days, the area is covered with grass. Needless to day, I always have some on hand. Great product!
Pros: Quality, Easy to Use, Effective
I would recommend this to a friend!
