Unfortunately I found this product to be worthless.

I've used Scotts products for years and this is the first time I was disappointed. I went through the same time consuming prep and then seeded then watered and waited.....HEAVY on the waiting and nearly nothing grew.
Cons: Didn't work as expected
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We are sorry that you have experienced problems while using Scotts Turf Builder Grass Seed Sun & Shade Mix. It is certainly frustrating to go to the work of reseeding an area, only to have the results less than satisfactory.
Water is an important factor in successful seeding. The newly seeded areas must be kept constantly moist for weeks on end and seeds must come into direct contact with the soil in order to germinate. Two "enemies" of newly seeded lawns are herbicides and lawn diseases. While you have very little control over the outbreak of a lawn disease, do make sure that no weed control or weed prevention chemical has been used in the area, as those products will also prevent or inhibit germination.

A Winner Wherever it Lands

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love to use this product from Scott's. I had 3 properties to fix up and sell. Each one had a sad looking lawn in need of repair. One was sunny in back & shady in front, one was all sunny, and the 3rd house had dense shade with 2 huge mature trees in front and a small sunny/shade mix in the back yard. I bought Scotts® Turf Builder® Grass Seed Sun & Shade Mix for each of these places.
I also use it in my own yard and I don't have to worry about where the seed lands. It just knows what to do and fills in where needed.

Produces nice grass blades

This grass mixture comes up nicely. Nice blades. I over seed my lawn annually and always use this mixture. Does a nice job every year thickening the lawn.
